The chicken salad here has very beautiful presentation and the taste is equally impressive as well. Lots of fresh sliced lettuces, olive, sliced cheese and mini tomatoes can be found in it. There are three different types of dressing provided for this salad and is placed separately soitwill not directly affects the taste of the salad. The chicken is pan fried so it is quite crispy and fortunately not too oily as well. It tastes refreshing and filled with lots of nutrition and vitamins in it

If you love to eat beef dishes,the steak here at Brotzeit should impress you. One of my favourite dish will be their black pepper steak in hot stove. The steak is quite thick in texture and the meat is really tender,juicy and not too oily. Especially like the black pepper sauce on it which is really thick,sweet and with a little spicyness in it. I'm not surprised to find this place to be packed with people during weekends.My agenda here was for the beer of cause!Food here was a typical pub price range but I guess. ordered the ultimate meat dish (cant rmb the actual name)but it has the best combi of meat ever. one giant pork knuckle fried to juicy crispy perfection, 4 thick german sausages, and finally 2 large slabs of fried meat the side.

A commonly mispronounced restaurant name, Brotzeit (bro-zait) German Bier Bar & Restaurant, got my friends and I to actually ask the waitpersons themselves what exactly the pronunciation is, and, voila, case closed. Before I went there, I’ve always wanted to give it a try, just because it looks so cool from the outside.

I still remember the first time I stepped foot in (the VivoCity outlet). It was after a long day, and thankfully, the ambience just made it better. It’s definitely a place for friends to chill over a table of german beer, sausages, platters, and well, maybe their famous pork knuckle. First time there, and not exactly for a main course, we ordered the Fischplatte.

Fischplatte ($36.50++) :: It’s a seafood platter, with a variety of smoked / pretty rare / raw fishes and seafood, and from what I know, not a lot of people out there are fans of these kind of platters. But for me, I am quite a huge fan (likewise for cold platters and the likes). It has smoked salmon, tuna, prawns – all of which are, I must say, pretty safe choices of fishes. The only more exotic one is the anchovies. I feel that it is a love-it-or-hate-it affair with the anchovies, particularly because of its saltiness. First bite down, second chew in, it might still be tolerable. But as it goes on, one might find it too salty to taste it independently. I was pretty much licking off the plate until half the anchovies were gone, then I couldn’t really go on anymore. But it was a good dish I must say – good for sharing, what with the basket of bread that comes with it. If you’re a gigantic fan of german sausages, you’re in for a treat, as they have a sausage platter, with basically, ‘all’ kinds of sausages.

 Pork Knuckle :: This signature dish of theirs isn’t on their menu (I really have no idea why though). It’s in the mid-thirty price range, for a delectable, big portion of pork knuckle (it’s bigger than your knuckle, for sure). I shared it with my friend, and if you’re planning to have some desserts after the meal, I think it’s probably sufficient. I’ve tried Pork Knuckle at Brewerkz and Marche, I thought this is the best of the three.

Now comes my favorite part of the restaurant, weirdly enough. Haha – it’s desserts!

Schokokuchen (Warm Rich Chocolate Cake with Stracciatella Ice Cream) ($12.50++ ) :: Very ordinary cake, very ordinary ice cream. It was enjoyable as far as a dessert goes, but nothing special.

Kaiserschmarren (Shredded Pancake with Rum & Raisin with Plum Sauce) ($12.50++) :: I tell you, this tastes SO much better than it sounds. It doesn’t appeal to me at first because of the plum sauce, but little did I realize that the plum sauce was actually the best thing that happened that night. My friends and I ordered the previously mentioned dessert on top of this. After finishing both, guess what, we were so addicted to this (I bet they sprinkled some-, I mean, a lot of MSG over the dessert) we ordered another plate of it. That is after our main course & these desserts, mind you. I don’t know, but the pancake, rum & raisin and the plum sauce go SO well together it’s like they’re made for each other from the day they were born. No exaggeration. But of course, this is my very personal opinion. It’s just, surprisingly good. I know that I’ll definitely not be giving it a miss the next time I give Brotzeit another visit (probably to get a taste of their german sausages, as it should be for a german restaurant).

Impression on Brotzeit Very nice, unique though confusing restaurant name. Always somewhere nice to chill after work, after a long day, with your date, with your friends. Dim lighting. Very neat and furnishing – the benches, the high stools. And at least an average to above average food. Worth trying.

Even though i am dining at a German restaurant but pardon me for not eating German food :X.Ordered the dory food set to try since it was on lunch set promotion It came with a soup and drink. the soup was pumpkin soup, like the taste for the first mouth but not the subsequent tried as the soup did not has a heavy pumpkin smell but rather more to milky creamy taste. As for the dory fill , i like the way they served with fresh tomatoes, potatoes and fish paste (i guessed) apart from the fish is q

this is a place for nice beer and chill out at night..we came here to have some nice food as wellwe had a variety of sausages from pork to chicken.. served with sweet onions!we also had ham with bread with cheese.. and pickles as well as eggsreally nice place with good food =)

The seafood aglio olio is quite nice.The softness of the spaghetti is just right.The seafood is also very fresh and big in size.
The potato wedges is very nice,it is very crispy and not oily.

 Erm,i dono the name of this dish.It is a bit spicy although it looks very red.
I can add more chilli to make it more spicy.

This is a very special dish,Bread,onion,fish and chilli sauce.It is some kind like the tuna from tin.
The almond becomes soft because of the sauce.So it taste a bit not nice.

Brotzeit serves fantastic food but was abit dissapointed after making a few trip down and their pork knuckle actually sold out everytime. So this time we took the sausage platter consisting of spicy chicken sausages, pork bratwurst, mini pork cheese sausages, weisswurst sausage, garlic sausage + sauerkraut as an all round tasting platter of what Brotzeit has to offer from its repertoire of sausages.Pricing is certainly on the higher side & going in a group on sharing basis is definitely advisab

Two new friends, Mr NGFL and I got down to Brotzeit to try their Game Menu for Christmas, till 31 Dec only. What is game? Not computer game ok?? In movies or books, the aristocrats will gather at someone’s huge mansion, and they will go hunting in the forest. Any animal that is hunted in the wild is called game. It can range from fowl to beasts.

“Brot” means “bread” and “zeit” means “time” and together, it means a homely meal with beer. Haha, you think it’s “bread time” right?? We argued over some time how to pronounce it. ”Zeit” is definitely pronounced as “tsahyt” as in the English word “zeitgeist.” And since I write this blog, I decided to pronounce “bro-tsahyt.” Yo, for the bros, man!

Despite that the restaurant-bar is huge, spanning two storeys, it gives a very cozy and intimate ambience. I love how funky the murals are: Animals found in Germany are in the process of brewing beer in Singapore, signaled by iconic Singapore buildings. The lightning is yellowish, which is how all restaurants’ lighting should be. It’s definitely a good after-work place or just hangout with friends.

For starters, we had the pretzels and, from the game menu, the duck confit with cranberry sauce and Brezn sticks ($18.50). Brezn stick is baguette form of pretzels, which is white bread treated in an alkali solution, according to Chef Claus, the executive chef of Brotzeit. The duck confit took 18 painstaking hours to prepare and cook. I usually dislike duck confit–don’t like overly salty things–but if you stuff the salty shredded duck and sweet berry-ish but not tart cranberry into the bread, the mixture of the taste, a little bit of everything, titillates the tongue.

Although the starters were good, I’d say, go for the mains because Brotzeit gives a very generous serving of mains. We four only ordered two mains because of the starter. I think next time I go, I’ll just kill on the mains and eat one entire plate on my own.

From the Game Menu, there is a choice of roast or stew and we picked one from each.

Wildragout ($38.50), as in Wild-ragout and not wil-drag-out Drag Queen Kumar style, is deer and wild boar stewed till tender with onions, bacon, juniper berries, finished with sour cream. My new friend asked if I could distinguish between the deer and wild boar. So proud of myself, I can!!! The deer is very tender, and comes out in shreds in your mouth, and has a very, very distinct smokey aroma, like it has been on the charcoal grill for some time. The deer was truly delicious. Next time I come, I want to ask them if I can have a plate of just deer because I’m a dear.

The dish also comes with red cabbage that takes 24 hours to prepare and tasted like the Chinese salted vegetables; buttered Spatzle, a seasoned dough poached in boiling water, that tasted like mee hoon kueh; and fine beans wrapped in a piece of bacon.

We didn’t like wildschweinbraten ($34.50), roast wild boar, so much. We know the dish is well cooked but it’s just that we’re not used to the toughness of the meat. Wild boars and Babe (farm pig) are very different. Babe gets fed, becomes fat, and fats give meat the tenderness–that’s why I’m so tender. But to survive in the wild, boars are muscular and have tight hides, so that’s why the meat is tough.

However, the sides were AWESOME. I can’t stop eating the napkin dumplings! It’s white bread treated with paisley and spices and boiled in a napkin. It tasted like mashed potato salad with black pepper. I love potato salad! This dish also has red cabbage and fine beans wrapped in a piece of bacon.

 We each had a Gluhwein ($14.50), pronounced as “gluen,” which is Xmas seasoned hot red wine served with vanilla ice cream and strawberries and the Heisser Gluhwein ($12.50) itself, which is hot red wine. This truly, truly reminds me of Christmas. When I was at the Ah Beng Boot Camp in New York, the weather was freezing, minus ten degrees. And at Union Square Farmers Market, I bought this hot red wine, and it felt so warm inside despite the freeze.

Ice cream is also very winter-ly. It actually feels very good eating ice cream in winter. So Gluhwein is really a great creation, with the sweetness of vanilla, the woody spice of cinnamon and sweetness of berry (both ingredients are very Xmasy), and aroma of the Xmas wine. I want to go back and eat more of this!

The Game Menu is an eye-opener for me. I’ve eaten game fowl before, but not game-four-legs. The entire experience feels very Christmassy – probably because the restaurant uses many Xmas ingredients, lots of berries, cinnamon, and a winter beer, Weihnachtsbier, a sweet, full-bodied lager that has a berry aftertaste. I think I’ll go back soon before the game meat menu is over.

Most people order sausages at Brotzeit but I had a crispy chicken salad instead and it really trumps all other salads i've ever had. Though be warned that if your aim of eating salad is to go on a diet, this is not a salad you should consider. Their portions are quite substantial, it took me some time to finish the mountain of vegetables. and the chicken is fried, so not exactly diet friendly. The chicken remained crispy throughout my meal despite the moisture from the leaves and that was really

i love the food at brotzeit. absolutely love their sausages and scamble eggs. when my girlfriend brought me to this place, i was very curious about their german beer, she was more excited about the food, in the end i got even more excited about the food. the sausages are very juicy and tasty. the scrambled eggs are scrambled very well, seasoned to perfection.

I had a salad from Brotzeit as I wasn't having much of an appetite. My favorite part of the dish was the mozzarella cheese. It was fresh, white and mild but faintly sour in taste, it was good. The salad were deep green in color and the amount of dressing tossed was appropriate. My favorite type of greens is rocket salad. Service was prompt. I remember the salads come in two serving sizes, regular and a larger one, suitable for 1 pax and 2 pax respectively.

My family and I headed down to Brotzeit for some true blue german food. Was excited because I seldom eat german food. We ordered the meaty pork knuckle which was good for two. Their gravy was slightly sweet but not too empowering. It blended really well with the meat! We also ordered sides such as wedges for the kids who might not like the main courses. Overall, the food is really not bad and it's definitely worth a try if you've not been to Brotzeit!

This is a German Bar & Restaurant which is pretty popular during dinner time. Since it is a German Bar, the must try is the Pork Knuckle which is a good dish to go with beer. I ordered the pork knuckle but not the beer. The pork knuckle is pretty huge and very crispy and is served with potato salad, sauerkraut with brown sauce on the side. This is a German Bar & Restaurant which is pretty popular during dinner time. Since it is a German Bar, the must try is the Pork Knuckle which is a good dish to go with beer. I ordered the pork knuckle but not the beer.

The pork knuckle is pretty huge and very crispy and is served with potato salad, sauerkraut with brown sauce on the side. The pork knuckle is very well seasoned and in some ways it actually taste like Chinese roasted meat. The skin is very crispy and quite difficult to cut. The meat is tender and there are actually quite a lot of fats in it. It goes well with or without the brown sauce. I cannot really figure out what is the brown sauce.

Sauerkraut as translated from German is sour cabbage. It is shredded cabbage fermented by various lactic acid bacteria. It tastes sour, a bit soggy and very soft. Too much of it will make one sick of it.

Do note that the pork knuckle is not stated in the menu.
