Catered for NTU staff and students, Cafe Al Fresco is a dine-in facility that has both a la carte and buffet set menus. It is extremely affordable in a shocking price, say, the buffet cost less than $7 during promotional hours. However there are limited choices for buffet, just some meat, veg, and nothing special. Drinks are sold on a separate basis.I always love to go there for my western food! It's a great hangout for friends, and usually it's not very packed as it's a little out-of-the-way.It

It costs $5.90, and the potato is really baked american-style. The shop belongs to a couple, and they're quite friendly and helpful.

It is quite a surprise. From the outside, it looks like some atas Western restaurant, but when you enter, it is quite ordinary. So don't be fooled by its exterior. To give it some credit, it feels very homely. The food also has this home-made feel - like something my Mom would cook for a regular dinner. The portions are huge, but I could finish it because it is delicious (and also partially cos' trying to find this place made me so hungry). Check out my picture below for the Chicken Spaghetti wh

The portions are huge, but I could finish it because it is delicious (and also partially cos' trying to find this place made me so hungry). Check out my picture below for the Chicken Spaghetti which costs $3.50. The proportion seriously is quite funny, really very big. But I find it okay because it is just sufficient for me.

You can say that the way they arrange is very unprofessional (LOL No, I did not pinch a few broccolis before taking this photo, it is really how it is presented to me), but also good for people who don't like veggies
It is a very homely ambience with a fish tank that kept us entertained for quite a while. There are two Nemos inside!

I wouldn't recommend you to eat here because there are so many other places in NTU that serves better food, but it is quite a strange experience.

Cafe al fresco is located along the route of NTU's shuttle bus D route at the International House. You can take the shuttle bus from Pioneer MRT station into the campus and stop at the Admin Office building in NTU. Shuttle buses take about 10-15 minutes to arrive except on weekends where the timing isn't as regular. Cafe al fresco is basically, as the name suggests, a non air-conditioned cafe, rather small with few seats and it is seldom full so you need not worry about not getting a table. They offer western and asian dishes, the best, in my opinion, being their sandwiches and vietnamese coffee. Something to note is that they are closed by 4pm on Saturdays and not opened on Sundays so if you're travelling from outside of the campus in to try it out on saturdays, do come earlier.
