Cova, Pasticceria - Confetteria的食評 – 新加坡烏節的意大利菜甜品及蛋糕餐廳

It was my first visit to this italian confetteria and it was very much a pleasant and sweet experience. The wide choice of pastries and cakes delights are displayed in fridges and diners can be assisted by friendly waiters once they enter the cafe.

Me and bf found a cozy spot to sit and we looked through the menu with anticipation. I ordered a tea called paradise kiss, a drink that is fusion of fruits. Bf was truly attracted by the wide array of cakes displayed in the fridge when we walked in, and hence ordered a choco tart - tartufini, which is a consolidation of chocolate flakes (top layer), chocolate cream (middle layer), and a crusted layer(at the bottom). It was a sweet addiction eating each mouthful and it seemed not enough for two sweet-toothies here. Bf requested for additional 2 mini biscuits that originally came with the tea I ordered. We realized they were given complimentary, not reflected in the bill. Sweet isn't it? I didn't get a full sip with bf's drink as he's too absorbed in it and that the drink was finished quite soon after it came.

In a whole, the experience was great,coupled with a nice italian setting.(Chandelier lightings,cozy sofas, elegant furnishing)

At the end of the meal, the bill came and everything cost below what we have expected.(Cos we were dining at TCC the last night and it actually cost much more with lesser items)

Well, for all sweet toothies, here's another must-go cafe for high tea sessions!

Service does not rank high on my list of considerations for eating. Usually, I am lucky enough to get excellent service even in places where people complained about. The service people at Cova is not bad in theory - polite, unobtrusive, knowledgeable. But they sure make you feel patronised. A certain tall waiter who served us was just cold, cold, cold.

We wish we will be as peeved over the food as the waiter's icy cold attitude but the pasta and starter were great! For a dessert place, Cova has a tight but excellent list of starters and salads. We decided on Rossini ($16) as rocket and smoked salmon are technically best friends. The smoked gruyere (I am assuming it is very young gruyere) was light. This dish would be divine if there were some fresh dill.

Love the Crayfish and Zuchini Tagiliolini in Saffron Sauce ($34) with a glorious orange hue. Cova is certainly very generous with their saffron. For such a prized spice, the amount of saffron in this dish was totally unbelievable. Granted the crayfish was a bit overcooked and the sauce became a bit heavy towards the end. This is one unforgetable pasta. Highly recommended if you ever want to dine at Cova.

Cod with Balsamic Reduction ($32) was rather boring! The cod was neither smooth nor firm. The texture reminded me of sutchi fillet. The only saving grace was that delightful and sweet brunch of cherry tomatoes.
