District 10 opens its fourth branch at The Star Vista with the concept of a bar with different themes at each outlet, we came to this one which allows diners to chill out and enjoy tapas at the bar table. However,we are here today in anticipation of their newly introduced brunch menu available only on weekends! When it comes to daytime on weekends, it becomes so family-oriented unlike the usual perception we've had prior to this visit. There are inflatable bouncer at the outdoor dining area, tiny chairs and tables for children to have some fun themselves in the midst of the chitchat sessions of mummies and daddies. Attentively, there is also a kid's menu with animals on it provided with colour pencils for them to play!Spanish Omelette with Bell Peppers, Mushrooms & Chorizo | $14++We appreciated the generous amount of food they served here, with a big patch of omelette as main and together with sides of half a grilled tomato, hash brown and plenty of rocket salad. The crunchy bell peppers mixed in the omelette complemented well with the soft mushroom, flavoursome chorizo and eggs. A simple dish well executed.District 10 Eggs Benedict | $16++Poached Eggs on Toasted Muffin with Sautéed Spinach, Smoked Salmon & Hollandaise SauceWhile the serving was similarly generous for this dish, the major drawback was the hollandaise sauce on the poached eggs was not thick and creamy enough, perhaps due to the imbalanced proportion of egg yolk and butter. The muffin was toasted to perfection together with smoked salmon and sautéed spinach that sat on top, which completed the dish.Pandan-Coconut Pancake with Gula Melaka Syrup | $9++We thought that this dish had the best mixture of ingredients out of others, it was a fusion of Southeast Asian and Western cuisine. We loved the fact that the pancake was actually made from pandan and coconut, as well as drizzled with gula melaka syrup replacing maple syrup or honey on top made the dish addictive! The drawback of it would be texture of the pancake tasted like 'kueh' which lacked fluffiness, though some might like the way they did.Pizza Margarita with Tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella | $19++This was not part of the brunch menu but you could order from their main menu. We loved this simple yet delicious thin crust pizza as it was the highlight of the whole tasting. A harmonious combination of tomato sauce and cheese spread was nicely complemented by the soft and chewy buffalo mozzarella that was evenly placed on top of each slice of the pizza. We unknowingly finished the pizza slice by slice!Antioxidant (Peach, Green Apple, Mango and Strawberry) | $13++We find that there are always different types of juices out there which try too hard to blend many different types of fruits which may not always turn out tasting pleasant. This particular rendition with peach, green apple, mango and strawberry turned out surprisingly smooth and good! After drinking this antioxidant-rich juice, it certainly made our calories count!Apart from their tapas, now diners could enjoy their new affordable brunch mains at a relaxed ambience surrounded by laughter! 繼續閱讀

For pictures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.com/2014/04/02/district-10-star-vista/Met my Uni friends some time back at Star Vista for dinner, and our choice was District 10, a bar tapas restaurant serving more than 35 tapas and pinchos (spike in Spanish). Pinchos are small bites skewed on long toothpicks, typically found in Northern Spain bars and taverns. Although tapas are meant to be the star, the main course, pasta and pizza we ordered outshone the former.Alfresco and indoor seats are available. I would use the word Chillax to describe the ambience- a place whereby many office workers would like to unwind after long day’s work. Service was attentive and patient; and staff are eager to help. The menu is extensive, with a variety of tapas, pinchos, soups, salads, pasta, pizza, main courses and desserts to choose from. We were spoilt for choice and landed up squabbling on what to order, haha! I strongly suggest to come in a group, so you can order a wider array of tapas. We kicked start our hearty dinner with some tapas. Please pardon my photo quality; the lightening was difficult for photographyFried Calamari with Wasabi Mayonnaise ($12). Deep fried with crunchy batter and springy calamari, accompanied with spicy tangy dip. Forget about counting calories and just indulge!Sautéed Mushrooms with garlic and parsley ($8)- simple, yet so addictive!Natural Cut French Fries ($9) were crisp and crunchy, yet not at all oily, with enough fluffy potato inside to make them satisfying. Flavour-wise, it was lacklustre, hence ordering the truffle dip ($3) is a good idea.Pizza with Iberico Ham, Rocket and Parmesan Cheese ($29). We loved the slight charred, thin crispy crust and tasty melt-in-the-mouth Iberico ham.Linguini in Aglio Oilo and Jumbo Crab Meat ($26). Al dente aglio oilo pasta, huge chucks of succulent crab meat and cherry tomatoes-a winning combination fully deserving of our 6 thumbs up.Spanish Oven Roasted Pork Belly with Mashed potato and Onion Gravy ($24). This main course is part of the promotion menu so I am not sure whether it’s still available now, but if you see this, order it! Delicious, tender porky goodness that none of us could resist.Desserts were too pricy ( about $10) and didnt sound very interesting, so we went elsewhere for sweet endings.Brunch and set lunches are also available during the day, you can find the menu on their website 繼續閱讀

I'd been hearing the name of this place quite a number of times. and i was quite pleasantly surprised at how good it was! it had a very refreshing menu, with lots of interesting dishes that we wanted to order ^^ i would say that the prices of their tapas were pretty steep though, knowing how small the portions usually are. thankfully the quality of food made up for it (: the sauteed garlic prawns with olive oil ($12) were deliciously fragrant. a hit amongst us garlic-lovers ;) we devoured it in minutes!! the prawns were juicy, and the sauce was so good that we mopped it up with anything and everything available I loved the jumbo crab cakes ($14) for their fluffy texture. they were such a delight to eat! The mini black angus cheddar cheese burger ($7) was tiny, but so adorable!!! the combination of the beef and cheddar cheese was divine (: and the naturally cut fries with truffle dip ($12) were so good!!!!! i think this way of doing such fries is much better than those pseudo truffle fries that have barely any truffle flavour at all -.- for this, the fries were fried beautifully - super crispy, while fluffy inside and tasty on their own! perhaps they were a little too oily though. the truffle mayo dip was delicious with sufficient truffle essence ;) For the rest of the review and photos, visit http://thelittlemomentsofmylife.blogspot.sg/2013/10/district-10-bar-restaurant.html 繼續閱讀

It was on a lazy and relaxing Sunday evening that my regular dining companion and I decided to head over to District 10 Bar Tapas Restaurant, nestled within The Star Vista. I had, in fact, wanted to sample District 10's sumptuous-looking Spanish-based cuisine for some time, but never found the opportunity to do so.Venturing into the restaurant, we were immediately struck by the apparent lack of attentiveness on the staff's part. We actually had to make our way, unaccompanied, towards a table, only for staff to register our presence when we were almost at our table of choice. Certainly a far cry from most other sit-down restaurants, where staff would be eagerly awaiting your patronage at the entrance of the restaurant. Perhaps the lacklustre service could be attributed to the odd hours we were there, around 1645hrs.We promptly settled for a Pizza Margherita with buffalo mozzarella, accompanied by Manchego Cheese and Jamon Croquettes which I could not resist, simply by reading the item description. Being an ardent cheese lover, the opportunity to sample a Spanish cheese I was unfamiliar with was too tempting a proposition to pass up. We also ordered mugs of mildly, yet refreshingly, sweet Iced Tea to go along. As the croquettes could be served only after the dinner kitchen opened at 1730hrs, we took our time to savour the Pizza Margherita, which swiftly arrived. We were pleased to find it thin yet satisfying, with the crust expertly charred at the edges. It was as good as one could expect of a classic Margherita, with the tomato not excessively flooding the pizza, well-contained by the luscious cheese coating. Generous wedges of buffalo mozzarella sat atop each slice of pizza, together with a sprinkling of garnishing. The wedges of mozzarella were close to perfect, each bite mildly salty and satisfyingly springy. The pair of croquettes arrived shortly after 1730hrs, sitting pretty in a bed of creamy white sauce which I couldn't quite figure out. Bearnaise, perhaps? Each croquette was well-breaded and filled with ample quantities of the ham and cheese. Simple yet delicious. It was after finishing the croquettes that we decided to add the Spanish Potato Tortillas to our order. The tortillas duly arrived after just a few minutes. The wedges were well-presented, sprinkled with a pinch of garnishing and drizzled with copious quantities of olive oil. Overall, the tortillas, comprising layers of potato mash, were certainly tasty, although I found the croquettes more satisfying. If you, like me, love rich, greasy, cheesy food, the croquettes would certainly hold greater appeal for you.Based on my maiden visit to District 10, I would not hesitate to endorse the food there, as it certainly did not fail to live up to my expectations. Service was prompt and fuss-free, save for the initial lack of attentiveness at the entrance. If you are looking for a place to sample bite-sized portions of Spanish-inspired cuisine in a relaxing and soothing setting, District 10 is well worth your consideration! 繼續閱讀

Came across this impressive looking restaurant with nice ambience.Classic French Onion Soup (with Gruyere Croutons)The clear soup’s smell is robust yet not overpowering and visually appealing. The taste is more on the sweet side (instead of usual savoury) . A piece of toasted bread topped with savoury cheese is dipped whole into the onion soup.Hoegaarden Battered Fish & ChipsUpon first impression was the miserable portion of chips/fries, which taste wise it’s okay. Crispy and still has it’s own potato goodness within. Beer battered fish is also crispy and “airy” , meat is juicy, well seasoned and well deepfried into golden brown . There’s a side of mint mashed peas dipping and tartare sauce which you can choose from for your fish / fries. 繼續閱讀
