Fika is a social institution in Sweden; it means having a coffee with one’s colleagues, friends, date, or family. When we got wind of Fika Café, we knew we had to give it a shot. I have never tried Swedish food before unless you count the meatballs from Ikea. So one day I decide to head to Fika Swedish Cafe and Bistro, which also happens to be halal! When i told my swedish friend about how i loved IKEA meatballs, he totally pooh-pooed at me a and said that it wasn’t authentic at all! Imagine my shock. haha. I still love it anyway! But Fika is one that has gotten the stamp of approval from the Swedish community in singapore, and after dining there, I could see why! Well, most of us may be very familiar with the meatballs at Ikea and love them. But, there are even better meatballs at Fika! The meatballs are definitely more expensive but it is worth a try! Ok, so it contains mashed potato and of course, beef balls, pork and some lettuce i think. Well, in IKEA they sell the same thing but it does not contain pork because they are halal. The mashed potato taste good and its texture was soft. The beef balls have some cheese gravy on top. One pro tip: Do not wait for too long to eat the beef. It tastes really really nasty when its cold. Anyway, its $18.50, It costed me a bomb.

Fika- Swedish cafe & bistro offers a range of open-faced sandwiches (smoked salmon, shrimps, chicken, meatballs..etc), salads (signature Smoked salmon salad) , crepes and desserts (swedish pancakes). And indeed, the food here are really nice and they really satisfy your cravings for meatballs and others. Though the price of some of the food are more expensive, but it is worth a try.
