After visiting the dentist I go to the basement of Paragon to get my prescription. And on the way of the mall out I notice some goodies in a glass display which look like cronuts except the label read Crodo. So I order the one that looks the least sweet, the glazed crodo, yes I know my dentist wouldn’t approve. I get back to the office, I plate and cut the Crodo half which revealed a soft and layered inside. I take a bite and the pasty is soft, buttery and almost melts in your mouth! As anticipa

As anticipated it was a little too sweet but that didn’t take away how good this merge of two very different pastries tasted. I will definitely be back for another!

The cronut = croissant + donut is absolutely ingenious!Had the chocolate cronut and the original custard. Though it was a tad sweet, every bite was worth the sinfulness that came with it. They are really filling though as I only had half a cronut and I had to take a break.Try to consume it on the same day, or put it in the fridge if you can't immediately consume it, else it may go soggy.

I had not bought anything from Da Paolo Gastronomia before, but since they sell Crodos and the craze with it is still ongoing, why not try their rendition?The only variant I had tried is the Chocolate Crodo. The only variant I had tried is the Chocolate Crodo. The Crodos have a somewhat flaky texture on the exterior that resembles croissants but shaped like a donut, but there is not really much bread filling inside which is good for those who finds donuts too dense for them. Instead, accompanying the chocolate filling inside is a texture that is greatly identical to our Chinese doughsticks (You Tiao), though less the oily or doughy taste with a buttery one that you usually would find in croissants. The chocolate filling was sweet but not overwhelmingly so to cover the taste of the pastry, and so does the hardened chocolate on the top too. Something I particularly do not like about the Crodos would be how oily it was. It does not take much effort to squeeze out the amount of oil absorbed in the pastry; it just gets to your hands just by holding it. I am not sure if the Cronuts are identical in taste and texture to the Crodos, but it is definitely a delectable pastry to have a bite on. Currently there are two flavours sold here at $4.90 per Crodo, which are Cream and Chocolate. Cream comes with sugar coated on the top and a cream filling inside (which I had not tried) while the Chocolate comes with hardened chocolate on the top with chocolate filling inside.

Chocolate Crodo
The pastry topped with the wonderful bittersweet chocolate and filled with chocolate filling.

Both tastes very nice, I personally like the Cream-flavoured Crodo better as it looks closer to a donut but taste like croissant. The cream filling balance the taste better too. It is exciting eating the chocolate version with the chocolate filling flowing out.

Whenever I'm craving for sweet comfort food, I would always think of the tiramisu sold here. It is one of the best tiramisu you can find in Singapore. Everything is done very well, smooth mascarpone cream with rum soaked cake layers in between. You could taste the perfect combination of liquer, coffee and cocoa with each bite. I just wish the liquer content in the tiramisu were higher. I usually buy the medium box. The small cup they sell simply isn't enough!

Messy but each mouthful was filled with the richness of cheese the intense sweetness and sourness of the fresh blueberry. With the combination of sweet and sour, it makes me drool while typing this and you will not be sick of the taste, but rather you will want more. With the cruchy biscuit at the bottom, it makes the whole cake a perfect dessert.

Couldn't resist not going in there to grab a pastry. At this place I'm happy with mostly all their food from the minestrone soup to lasagna to tirimisu from their fridges for takeaways. I tried many of their food and so far they have been good and they really mindful on their quality. Since it's tea time, I will settled for a Almond Crossiant which what I need was some sweet stuff. The crossiant pastry was rich and flaky and the toppings were the toasted almonds was just perfect and cruchy. Love

After my visit to the gastronomia at The Sail, i had the urge to go again and try other of their food items. So, one day when i was staring at the directory in Paragon and saw Da Paolo on the list, i knew that would be the place to go and grab some lunch. Unlike the outlet at The Sail, the paragon outlet does not offer any seating alternative. One particular item caught my attention, and that would be the disney pasta. Unlike the outlet at The Sail, the paragon outlet does not offer any seating alternative.

One particular item caught my attention, and that would be the disney pasta. Apparently, these pasta comes in the shape of disney character and would sure get the attention and liking of all those young kids out there. I had considered buying it home and cook for my niece, but truth to be spoken, even though it is unique, it is still considered pricy for a small pack of pasta.

Instead, i went over to the counter for the "main course". I bought grilled chicken breast, caprese, and stuffed eggplant. The irony is, i love the sweet pepper that comes together with the chicken more than the meat itself. The capsicum is really soft, to the extent that i doubt any teeth is needed to eat it. Caprese, is just the standard, with alternate slices of mozzarella and tomato. It is a great salad for those people out there who hates the greens.

When i was making payment for these food items, i cant help but to notice the scones that are calling out to me. I heard that the white chocolate cornflakes and chocolate chips are the best selling, thus i bought one of each. The scones are slightly pricy, going at $3.50 each, but at least they are consider huge and just one of it would suffice for my breakfast next day. They are generous with their chocolate chips and chunks of milk chocolate can be seen all over the scone. I put the white chocolate chip scone into the oven and toasted before eating. And yes, i would advice the rest out there to do it too, cause it makes the cornflakes crispy and it provide a hugh contrast to the softness of the scone texture. The scone, over all, actually tasted more like a muffin. But i'm not complaining, so long as it taste nice.
