Sleep late after drinking session and went city hall for lunch. Ordered Lasi LEMAK rice, Gado Gado and soya beans drink from Grandma's Resturant. Look nice and delicious to me or maybe I'm hungry. Serve with egg, curry chicken, Assam vegetables and lovely sambal chilli. The whole plate is fill up and I like the chicken as curry is thick and slightly spicy. Ordered anothe soya bean cold drink. Not bad also as combined with almond taste so well mixtures. This places is good for those looking for good value meal. Service is normal as ordering though iPad technology ha. 繼續閱讀

We had our lunch at Grandma's Restaruant as we wanted to try out their local arrays of dish, prepared in a conventional way, just the way Grandma used to cook it.We tried Grandma's fried rice as it was a promotion item, selling at $5.80 each. We ordered one plate each and as soon as they served it to us, we regretted our decision as the serving was huge! The fried rice was fragrant and there was three peeled prawns. We ordered the Mini Ngoh Hiang. For those who may not be familiar with Ngoh Hiang, it is a minced meat roll wrapped in beancurd skin in the form of spring roll. It is reasonable. For vegetable, we ordered the Kang Kong stirred fried with sambal chilli. It was cooked in spices blended with a combination of chilli, shallots, garlic and belacan. I like it!As we know curry is always one of the dishes that most Singaporean craves for, we could not resist from trying Grandma's Curry Chicken. The curry tasted just right with the right spices and the curry chicken drumlets and chicken wings were delicious. For those with Facebook account, you can enjoy complimentary Iced Tea if you like Grandma's Facebook.Overall, their tastes and pricing are reasonable. Their customers services are above expectations. 繼續閱讀

This restaurant offers a fusion of Chinese food and Peranakan cuisine. It is like a more atas Zichar place but with additional Nyonya dishes such as Beef Rendang and Assam fish. Easily accessible at the basement of Raffles City, the place can be quite packed during peak hours.Ordered the Nasi Bukhara and the Cantonese Kway Teow. The former dish consisted of Beef Rendang, Fried Chicken, served with Nasi Pilaf (looked like Nasi Briyani with a slight fragrance but tasted almost like plain rice). Chicken was not too deep fried and the chunks of Beef were quite tender. I prefer the Hor Fun, the gravy was not too diluted and the noodles was slurp-ily smooth with a pleasant 'wok-hei' taste in it.Ordered the San Bei Ji ($12.90) as well, recommended as one of signature dishes. There were pieces of chicken stewed with ginger, garlic and chilli served in a pot. I had no idea why this ordinary dish would be anything special. Tried the Fried Four Heavenly King which is actually a combi of Petai, brinjal, ladies finger and long beans fried with Sambal. It was not too spicy and appetizing and you get four types of veggie in one! Overall, food quality is quite good but with a few misses for some of the items. Quite a variety of choices while some might feel the price slightly steep considering that one can get most of these food items at ZiChar coffee shops. 繼續閱讀

5 years ago, I tried the Nasi Bojari at Madam Kwan’s at Suria KLCC and I simply couldn’t forget its luscious plate of tri-coloured rice with their signature fried chicken leg, beef rendang and assam prawns. Though Madam Kwan is also available in Singapore now at Vivocity, it just doesn’t feel and taste the same. So whenever I head to KL, dropping by Madam Kwan’s is still a must every time.A good alternative to the Nasi Bojari would be the Nasi Bukhari from Grandma’s. Even its presentation looks 99% similar to the former. The succulent chicken leg is fried to perfection. Its skin is thin and crispy with hardly any fats underneath. And when you cut into the meat with your fork and knife, you’d be gratified to see juices oozing between the layers. I don’t think the chicken is marinated with any other seasoning so what I taste here is just the authentic freshness and sweetness of the chicken meat. The beef rendang and assam prawns may look dry but they are superbly flavoursome. The beef cubes are so tender, the meat just breaks off easily. The prawns are fresh and crunchy and goes very well with the sliced onions. I wish there were more gravy for both items but I’m sure they would give if I ask.The pilaf-style rice imparts a lovely smell of garlic, onion, turmeric and other aromatics and is nicely cooked, not dry or soggy, so every grain is well separated. And because every dish on the plate is so rich in flavour, you can just eat on and on with the rice like how we’d enjoy a good Nasi Padang or Nasi Lemak. There’s also some hard-boiled egg and cucumber slices hidden below the chicken leg. This is probably the 10th time I’ve had this at Grandma’s and it doesn’t disappoint each time. For full review and pictures, please visit http://springtomorrow.com/2013/11/03/grandmas-raffles-city/ 繼續閱讀

The otah otah here is really good. This is restaurant style good quality otah otah where the dish comes in a large slap. There are chunks of fresh fish embedded in the otah and each piece of fish is flaky and smooh. The otah is just spicy enough and is great to accompany plain rice to sooth the heat. However the otah is not very big in size and hence doesnt go a long way. 繼續閱讀
