Hougang Hainanese Curry Rice (已結業)

I went to Boon Keng for a laptop fair, but before I snatched my goods i decided to fill up my stomach first! :) I was quite surprised that during a Saturday afternoon, there were more than 50% of the stalls are closed! The environment was clean and quiet, not many people around. I ordered the Hainanese Curry Rice with my friends (SET C- the one with braised meat). I really love the curry, it was not very spicy, but it is very savoury. It really help in boosting my appetite. On the other hand, the braised meat was soft and tender, i believe it required a lot of skill before the cook can achieved such good skill and the vegetables was soft, but slightly too oily. I disliked the rice as it was quite hard, but i think for the price $3.00 for 3 dishes is worth the price! :) …查看更多

right at the heart of bendemeer market & food centre, this is one of the most popular stall. i ordered a plate of rice with a curry chicken drumstick and curry vegetables which cost $3 in total. More sweet and savory than spicy, the flavorful curry is somewhat reminiscent of that of the famous Redhill curry rice. The curry vegetables, however, are slightly too salty for my liking.I guess I still prefer Nyonya curry over Hainanese curry because Nyonya curry is more spicy, less sweet and less sticky.
