The boat porridge is the first dish I had for my meal. It is served garnished with deep-fried wanton skins and raw lettuce. There are fish, cured cuttlefish, jellyfish and peanuts in the porridge. This is the first time I had jellyfish in porridge. The porridge is not so gritty. It is thick and smooth but a bit bland. Luckily, there is soy sauce provided for me to enhance the porridge's taste. The fish, jellyfish and cured cuttlefish are tender. The strips of jellyfish are crunchy. The pieces of cured cuttlefish are smooth and chewy. The peanuts are hard and crunchy. However, I find the ingredients in the porridge a bit too little. The deep-fried wanton skins are golden brown. They appear to be hard but after being dipped in the porridge for a while, they are soggy. The pieces of raw lettuce are crunchy but a bit unfresh.

The durian chee cheong fun is the next and last dish I had after the porridge. It is one of the creative dishes I ever had. I had seen pancakes and cream puffs containing durian filling but I had never seen chee cheong fun with durian filling. The chee cheong fun is served in small pieces topped with grounded peanuts. The sheer chee cheong fun is white and as smooth as silk. The creamy durian filling is bittersweet. The grounded peanuts that make the dish appealing are hard and gritty so they add another texture to the dish. They are sweet too. That helps to balance the bitterness of the durian filling when the chee cheong fun is eaten with the grounded peanuts.

The taste of the chee cheong fun is superb but the porridge in my opinion needs improvement. The eatery also offers other dishes such as tangyuan and fried rice. I hope to come there the next time for better dishes.

This restaurant is famous for having a wide variety of rice roll, some of their unique and interesting flavors include apple, XO durian and banana which we seldom get to taste at the food centre. We ordered the vegetable fried rice but the outcome of the dish was not as per our expectation, the quality of the rice was quite dry and bland, moreover, they do not serve green chilli which makes the rice not that tasty. the fried rice costs $5.00 each plate!

I was craving for some tang yuan and decided to try the yam glutinous rice balls in peanut soup here, which costs around $3.80. They took really long to serve it, probably more than 15 minutes, although there weren't much customers. The yam glutinous rice balls were average, and quite filling. They were also very inflexible and did not allow customers to mix flavours, e.g. 2 yam and 2 green tea glutinous rice balls. You could try their fruit flavoured tang yuans though, something special.

I walked past this place and their glutinous rice balls caught my eye. House of rice roll and porridge is supposedly famous for their porridge and cheong fun, as I saw many newspaper clippings. They also have zi char dishes. I got the strawberry rice ball with almond soup for $4.80. Something unique as I've not come across fruit flavoured tang yuans so far. It was not bad, strawberry paste not too sweet, a little sour, so it goes quite well with the almond soup. They also have mango, yam, green

Stop by this place to packet some breakfast. First impression of the price range is - boy its damn costly for porridge WITH several options costing >$6, but then i reminded myself this is town area and this stall is supposedly a porridge specialist. I proceeded to order the cheapest version of century egg pork porridge at $4.50 + 20c for takeaway + $1 for egg. I also saw a guy preparing the home-made ccf behind the ordering counter but he doesn't look very skillful like those we see at hawke

I also saw a guy preparing the home-made ccf behind the ordering counter but he doesn't look very skillful like those we see at hawker centre where the auntie will dish out ccf like production houses. Anyway back to the porridge, the texture is the super gluey type with no sight of each grain. i would rate it at lest a 7.5 with the egg and century egg combination pleasing my taste buds well. Amount served was generous as well, it was filled to the brim of the plastic container. The absence of fried shallots also make the porridge less oily, that's a good touch. Overall a good eat. Would love to try the corn ccf next time, looks quite yummy.

While waiting for our turn at Comcentre, we headed here for some light snacks. It is located directly opposite comcentre. I had a plate of scallop rice roll/chee cheong fun. The rice roll are smooth and thin. Very easy to chew and swallow. I didn't really like it on the whole as i find it a little too bland even with the dark sauce. The scallops were not marinated as well. I was amazed that they even have durian rice roll. What a weird combination and i didn't have the guts to try it. Maybe next

Lastly, i didn't really like the service as i was eating half way and when all the dishes were served, they asked me for payment. Hmmm...

I tried the chee cheong fun stuffed with prawns. The chee cheong fun itself is amazing! The texture is smooth and slurps down your throat beautifully. The dark sauce is just the right taste, not too salty nor sweet, it's more the Hong Kong type of dark sauce, totally different from the Singaporean thick dark sauce on chee cheong fun. I would say that the prawns are quite a letdown cos they are quite small and are nothing fantastic. I would say that if you like the hong kong style of chee cheong

My favourite 'Chee Cheong Fun' stall in Singapore.I was very depressed when I couldn't find it a while back. I thought they had closed down or moved to somewhere unknown, but I received a comment on my old food blog entry about it's new location, which is just a few shops down the road - from 75 to 89 Killiney Road.A MUST in every visit.I mentioned in that old entry years ago that I did not dare try their signature 'Durian Chee Cheong Fun'. I mentioned in that old entry years ago that I did not dare try their signature 'Durian Chee Cheong Fun'. I finally did one day, and it was the road to no regrets.

Every time I recommend this dish to my fellow peers, they will raise their eyebrows and look at me like I was retarded or something. But once they've tried it, all of them would be utterly convinced.

The thick chilled Durian meat went perfectly well with the soft rice flour skin and a dash of peanuts and sugar. It's a very aberrant kind of sensation and the closest I can relate it to is cold Durian 'mochi' with very thin skin. Heavenly.
