If you are looking for local desserts at the Food Republic at Causeway Point, Ice Shop is the stall that sells them. They offer the usual range of both hot and cold local desserts such as Cheng Teng, Bobo Chacha and Ice Kachang, with some varieties thrown in, such as the Chin Chow with Strawberry ($2.50). Other than the Red Bean Soup and Green Bean Soup which cost $2.00, the rest are all priced at $2.50. You can also "Mix & Match" and create your own dessert with their homemade soup and add in ingredients such as Rice Ball for $0.50 or Attap Seed for $1.00. I wanted to try the "Mix & Match" but I was craving for Ice Kacang, so we got the Ice Kachang ($2.50) and Chendol ($2.50) instead. The Chendol came with toppings of red bean, jelly noodles and attap seeds. However, we found it to be a little lacking in coconut milk, which was a little disappointing.The Ice Kacang, with a base of red beans, jelly and attap seeds, fared a little better when it comes to the taste. It was also quite refreshing. However, I found the base ingredient portion to be quite small; the amount of red bean couldn't even fill up the entire spoon!Service was so-so too. When I went to place our order, the counter lady was inattentive despite me standing there for quite a while trying to catch her attention. If you are dining at Food Republic and just want some of the usual local dessert to complete your meal, then you could consider trying one of their desserts.
