Recently I have been eating Japanese food, I don't really want to eat Ichiban Sushi but was meeting friends for a chat so thought of finding a quiet restaurant to chat while having dinner. Lunch at Ichiban today and we ordered my favourite salmon sashimi at $9.50 for 7pcs. The salmon is quite fresh and thick.Apart from only eating sashimi, I ordered the Ishiyaki Saba Rice - $12.90, it is garlic rice served with grilled mackerel in hot stone. My friends and i were suddenly craving for Japanese cuisine food. So when we happened to pass by the ichiban sushi outlet at Hougang mall, we decided to go for it.I had ordered the cold noodle. i prefer to eat something refreshing and cold like this on a hot day as i will fell very chilling and calm.The cold noodle tasted normal as Sakae Sushi for me. I prefer the tasted of the tea noodle. and the sweetness of the soup was just nice too.

Normally cereal will only make you recall of cereal prawn if you want to use it for fired dishes. However here at Ichiban, the chef has fully used their creativity by using it to deep fry the chicken meat. The chicken meat is tender and juicy, and with at crispy cereal coating over the chicken pieces, it is no wonder why so many younger generation love this dish so much. I had one of the value promo sets: Sukiyaki Salmon Wazen. I was quite taken aback by the portions served. There are many things served in this set. There's fresh salmon in sukiyaki sauce with egg (which definitely whet my appetite!) served with rice. There is also a few slices of tender black pepper smoked duck. There is also chawanmushi, miso soup and a slice of watermelon. The food were all fresh and this set is definitely value for money!

Dad is a cake lover and he onli eats traditional sponge cake or swiss roll from chinese bakery and i'm surprise when he told me he love cheesecake! Yes, i tot it's those heavy cheesecake like strawberry cheesecake, orea cheesecake or newyork cheesecake. But i was so wrong. Dad describe the texture as light, fluffy and moist. Went there for dinner with friend for dinner. I ordered Chasoba. The chasoba was not tasty and the soba was a bit floury. It quite good when mixed with the tea. The tea actually tastes like tea, not overly salty or tasteless and unlike some restaurants where the tea tend to be tasteless. Overall, the chasoba was average.

i always go to hougang outlet to eatthe food was just so so,not very authentic however i love their salmon skin i tried sushi tei one but 1 plate about $5.90while this only cost $2.20 very crsipy,crunchy,not too saltyi also like cheesecake,i think is their best seller too always sold out at night time one more nice dessert to recommend was their matcha azuki not too sweet,with big azuki ,mochi veri chewy,QQ overall i rate 6/10 for this

It was during one of the after school trips to Hougang Mall many years ago that I actually discovered this awesome and superb coronet from Ichiban Boshi. The coronets come in two different flavours, custard and chocolate. I love the custard flavoured one. The crust is topped with a layer of icing sugar and it is crisp and delicious
