My sister has been telling me about a place that serves decent Myanmar food. Curious and since I happen to be free, I decide to drop by for lunch with my sisters.Inle Myanmar Restaurant is located in Peninsula Plaza and I think there are more than 2 restaurants serving Myanmar cuisine though my sister told me the other restaurant that serves cheap but equally good or better food has closed. Anyway I reached the restaurant around 12.30pm with my sisters and the restaurant seems to be half full. My sister recommended a couple of dishes and we ended up ordering 2 main dishes, 2 appetizers and 2 drinks to share. The Tea Leaves Salad Mix ($6) is actually a very refreshing and appetizing appetizer. I was initially quite hesitant when I saw a lot of unknown ingredients (to me) but my sister kept insisting and I am glad I did. It is very crunchy and it feels like I was munching on chips. The Crispy Tofu ($6) didn’t impress me a lot. It is not literally sliced tofu and deep fried. Rather it seems like minced tofu and wrapped with another thin layer before it is fried. Luckily it tastes a little bit better with the gravy provided. My sister and I shared a Butter Flavoured Rice with Chicken Curry ($8.50) and the chicken is really tender and easy to peel away. Not much difficulty encountered when eating it using a spoon and fork. The rice came with fried spring onions and I mixed it in. This ends up making it very crunchy and I could hardly discern the taste of the rice. I tried my sister’s portion of rice which didn’t have the onions, and there is only a very light hint of the butter. The rice is also the slightly soggy version. I like the curry which came with the chicken. It is unlike any other curry I tried and it is not spicy too.My sister ordered a noodle dish ($7) and I would say it is an acquired taste. I didn’t like it very much. But she thinks it’s nice. So there you go. Taste is subjective. We got the Myanmar Milk Tea ($3+) and it tastes like the Yin Yang (tea + coffee) drink at Chinese restaurants. The tea is very overpowers the milk, thus resulting in a more potent tea taste.Overall I had say I am not very impressed by the food and the total bill came up to $33+. Still it is worth a try. 繼續閱讀

I'm not a fan of Myanmar food, it was recommended by my friend. Once stepped in, I realized that all their staff are from Myanmar, but quite a lot of locals eating here.I had their fish, it was served in a fish shaped plate, which i find it quite cute. The fish was tender, tasted very light and bland. As for the vegetables it tasted so so only, don't really like the sauce, a bit too salty for me. Service was ok, price average, don't think will come back again. 繼續閱讀

It's my helper's birthday and we decided to treat her to some yummies from her home country. So in the restaurant, we asked her to order some dishes that she likes and we will be adventurous and just eat. So she ordered: 1) Myin Khwa - salad with a nutty flavor dressing. The leaves have a slight bitter aftertaste but the overall effect is actually quite nice. 2) Pork Sausage - this is essentially ngo Hiang in popiah skin, deep fried till the skin is super crispy. I thought the pork will taste porky but I was surprised that this was actually very nice. 3) Kyazan Hinga - it's certainly different from my usual selection of glass noodle. I don't mind it but I don't love it either. 4) Rakhine with soup - Same feeling as the glass noodle. My helper shared that she also found the taste funny as it's not made like this back home. So I guess this restaurant is not as authentic as we thought so... 5) Kang kong - nicely stir-fried that achieved a good amount of wok-Hei! 6) Shrimp paste fried rice - it's ok, taste like normal fried rice. Good to be able to taste the mini Shrimps in the rice. 7) Pork black beans - Again this is close to our Chinese lor-Bak. But not as nice. 8) Dessert - a super sweet concoction of everything sweet! But yummy lah... For a place that is not super authentic, it's full of Myanmarese! Since my helper doesn't like the food here much, it's unlikely I'll return. 繼續閱讀
