Dinner Date: 8th July 2014Dish tried: Cuttlefish Kang KongPrice: Average $4 per headNearest MRT: Dakota and Mountbatten ( Old Airport Road Market)Chance upon this stall operated by an old couple. Initially was looking for my favorite oyster omelette but was closed. Realized that the stall was selling one of my wife favorite thus decided to patronize.Asked for $4 dollars serving and quickly the Auntie get to work by mixing all ingredients into the mixing bowl similar to rojak.First bite was sensational. The ingredients are fresh which has given different level of crunchiness for different ingredients which makes the whole dish very refreshing. A plus point is that usually the kang kong and cuttlefish in other places are overly blanched in hot water but not with Jia Jia stall. The emerald green of kang kong and the bright beach color of the cuttlefish are brillantly complimenting each other and top with beansprout which were equally crunchy to our likings.Taking a closeup look on the dish, you can tell the sweet and sour tamarind and prawn paste mix had evenly coated on each strand and understood from the couple the sauce is made everyday fresh out of the kitchen stall. Sprinkle with fine grated peanut is a heavenly combination beyond description and practically spice up your appetite which can be serve either as an appetitizer or main dish. Stall itself is practically clean and more importantly this bring back memories as one of the singapore representation of local cusine which is truly singapore. So next time if you are there , do give it a try...they are in the same row as the stall that sell kim zhu dumplings.
