Kelong Seafood & BBQ is located in the one and only one coffee shop in Holland Village and easily accessible by MRT.  Presentation of Signature Golden Beancurd scored. 8 Beancurds were placed neatly surrounding an island of healthy broccoli with a pool of gluey clear gravy. Beancurd was crispy on its exterior and had a great texture once we sink our teeth into it. Ingredients consist of shredded carrot and taste was a great reminisce of carrot cake.

 Gong Bao Sauce was fried together in the Cashew Nut Chicken Dish, however the taste of the sauce did not accentuate to the chicken cube and tasted more like surface coating only.

 I'm quite glad that the Yi Mian was soft enough in its gravy and seafood ingredients like prawns, Sotong and fish. However the serving lacked the traditional lard aroma and was nothing more than ordinary.

 Having Tze Char from Kelong Seafood & BBQ has always been in my mind whenever I passed by. With a impression that the food there is often catered for Tourists or expats, that's why it took us quite a long time before giving them a try. However, there are also locals enjoying their fair share of

food from the Tze Char kitchen too. Though service was prompt, I find that food is generally pricey taking its taste into consideration.

Worth a Try

Sister-in-law (SIL) had a craving for their fried rice so I went down to buy for her. For ourselves, we also ordered:1) Ginger Fish Slice with rice - the sauce turned out to be a little too sweet for my liking and a little overpowering. It's not bad, just not great lah. 2) Beef Fried Rice - SIL said their normal fried rice is better as the beef slices were a tad too tough. Darn...3) San Lao Horfun - the wok-Hei of this dish is very evident and very flavourful indeed!! I love this most of all the

3) San Lao Horfun - the wok-Hei of this dish is very evident and very flavourful indeed!! I love this most of all the items. It's really good, so good that I'll return to the shop JUST for this dish. 

Considering the Coffeeshop is in HV, I didn't give it much credit. I assume the main clientele would be tourists or Ang-mohs so food can't be that good. Well, I was wrong. In fact, on the day I bought the food, the clientele consisted of mainly locals! Interesting!

Located right opposite Holland Village Food Village, this seemingly humble little stall conceals a whole lot of good food within it. As a huge tze char lover (and a rice pail at that), I couldn't miss out on a place like this upon a friend's recommendation. It is a usual good gauge to decide how good the food is by how many bowls of rice I ate. This time round, I had two bowls, which means it is pretty good but some room for improvement!  Steamed Broccoli with shallots ($12): I love broccoli and they did this dish justice by ensuring that it is soft and crunchy, and evenly flavoured with a faint wok hei fragrance. Usually I don't like too much of a wok hei taste because I find it unhealthy - this one balanced it well.

 Beef slices with onion ($15): The beef was quite tough to bite (I must say I felt guilty for this because I said a little too loudly that I was very hungry - NOT intended to hurry them up :X) but the taste itself was excellent. I would adore this to death if only it was more tender... a potential huge achievement given that I am not a fan of beef.

 The service was prompt (the dishes came in around 5 minutes) and friendly - smiles and laughter abound. Enjoyed my trip here!
Around $40 for 2 people.

Sambal Kang Kong

Not only just seafoods taste really delicious here, you may also like to check it out on their stir fry sambal kang kong. This vegetable is really crunchy during every bites and the chilli sambal used in it is very fragrant and spicy too. The portion is quite generous and is also one of the popular dish here too. Love to have it with a plate of their fragrant plain rice, so delicious!
