(: i have to say that this space is really small though! i was beyond surprised when i saw it actually. hahaha. i thought it would be some upstairs-downstairs kind of concept, but it's all really in one space. and i think the seating capacity is less than 20? so you might have to be prepared to wait if you plan to go there. honestly, i was a tad disappointed when i was there. although it was a lovely space and the cakes were quite yummy! (: i'll tell you why along the way.tiramisu: a very light mousse-like cake. dig deeper for the alcohol!! souffle milk tea cake: a very unexpected flavour (: it possessed a slight hint of a tea aroma and was very light. strawberry cake: the sweetest of the three. even though the texture was mousse-like, similar to the other two, the strawberry flavour was infused into every bit of the cake (: i was surprised that the cakes were SO tiny. and for an exorbitant price of around $8-$10 if i remember correctly. and when we reached there at 4pm, they told us to order asap because it was their last round of cakes...but they're supposed to open till 7pm? O.o i wonder what they're gonna do if they sell out before then! the service was also a little iffy. i mean, in general it was pretty good because the staff helped us to get an extra table and chair because of our large group, but at times i felt that they were just a teeny bit rude.also one thing to remember is that these japanese cakes are really light! because of their mousse texture, they're very airy and aren't substantial at all. i guess for a lady-like tea they'll do ;) but the staff actually recommended us to get 3 cakes for 2 people. i'm not telling you not to visit this place, because their cakes were undoubtedly tasty. but just keep these things in mind, and manage your expectations, and be prepared to spend. 繼續閱讀

If you keep your attention to your right while walking down Ann Siang Hill leading up to Club Street (it proves to be a challenge, what with some many interesting cafes, restaurants and shops alongside the narrow roads), you will spot Kki Sweets (which means cakes in Japanese), peacefully tucked away in this aesthetically pleasing location. At some angles, you would feel like you’re abroad, carefreely strolling. That’s why this makes Ann Siang Hill, in the Tanjong Pagar precinct one of the best places to chill out.Not only does Kki Sweets sell cakes (& mousse), they sell knick-knacks too. Classic items, pretty cute objects and sometimes oddities. So while shopping for cakes, feel free to look around for intricate yet simple souvenirs for yourself. One thing to take note though, is that getting seats can be a chore. Only able to sit around 15 in the shop (and about 8 outside of it), you must be in luck to tuck yourself in the shop comfortably. Furthermore, when patrons come here, they have the intention of taking their time to sip tea and complete their tai-tai high tea routine. Thankfully, my dining partners and I were in luck this very Saturday afternoon.Though the staff can appear stern at the first look, she was surprisingly helpful. We were at the counter browsing at the sleekly decorated cakes when the staff offered to go through the cakes and mousse they offer. She went through each and single one, displaying top knowledge on the products. She rejected our order on a Chocolate Cake, saying that if it was our first time there, try the mousse, which is their specialties. Of course, we followed accordingly and ordered 3 mousse.Little Red Riding Hood (Dark Chocolate with Raspberry Mousse) ($9+) :: Best dessert of the day. The mousse you get here at Kki Sweets is not the usual. If you’re a mousse hater, you should try one here, because that will potentially change your take on them. It is the smoothest and softest, most delicate mousse I’ve had, not forgetting flavorful. This sparkling gem had our umpteen approval. The raspberry can turn some off, but its sour touch to the very thick dark chocolate package makes it easy to finish. A must try.Coconut with Passion Fruit ($8.50+) :: Again, don’t be fooled by it standing tall, I nearly melted together with its softness. Like its Dark Chocolate Mousse, its filling (this time, passion fruit) is slotted in the middle section of the cake. As compared to its above counterpart, this pale in comparison.White Chocolate with Mango Mousse ($8.50+) :: Similar, this piece of mousse doesn’t hold a finger to the winning dish of the day. But oh well, its texture was enough to make us go cloud nine and happy, for whatever reason.Despite not having a clean sheet of good food, it’s still a definite go-back for me, thanks to its serenity and ambience it offers. I’ll be sure to head back and try their other selections. They offer Gryphon Tea to go along with the cakes and mousses too.—> Note #1: 10% service charge will be charged. K ki Cafe & The Little Drom Store on Ann Siang Hill is probably one of the most known and popular 'hidden find' in Singapore! Opened by self-taught baker Kenneth Seah and his wife Delphine Liau, K ki (which literally means cake in Japanese) Cafe has also achieved for itself quite a reputation abroad as well having been featured in a couple of international publications.This cafe sells an array of artisan cakes with a wide range of different flavours but staying true to their specialty of light and airy Japanese inspired mousse cakes. We came here on a Saturday afternoon for tea and was honestly quite spoilt for choice, faced with many displays of beautifully crafted and designed cakes in front of us. Delphine who was the lovely lady at the counter was quick to suggest a few of their popular items and even suggested the order in which we were to eat our cakes so as to not let the varying tastes and flavours overpower each other.The Antoinette was a white chocolate mousse with a mango centre. Affectionately named after The Little Drom’s Store owner- Antoinette, the first forkful of white chocolate mousse was incredible- extremely light, airy and not heavy at all unlike most white chocolate products. And the icing on the cake or rather the centre of the cake was reaching the mango puree part which was thick and luscious, this was seriously good cake.The Emily aka the Angry Birds cake had a bright bold red exterior with a Champagne mousse and wild strawberry centre. The subtle Champagne taste and the sweetness of the strawberries was a celebration erupting with the taste buds. Definitely one to buy for the Valentine, your date will surely approve.We had the Little Red Riding Hood last, probably because it was the richest and most overwhelming especially with the bitterness and intensity of the dark chocolate used in the mousse and the exterior. With its gleaming and shiny chocolate coat topped with a single fresh raspberry and a dust of icing sugar, it is not difficult to see why chocolate lovers call this a favourite. Using Michel Cluizel chocolates as a mark of quality, the Little Red Riding Hood can and probably will give most chocolate mousse cakes a run for their money. Not forgetting the lovely raspberry centre as a sweet contrast to the bitterness of the dark chocolate, this was indeed memorable.K ki Cafe with its little connecting vintage drom store is fast capturing the hearts of many dessert lovers with their winning formula of Japanese baking techniques and emphasis on light mousse cakes that they have become so successful at making. Like the quiet and peaceful Ann Siang Hill in the afternoon, went for a cup of tea and cake with hubby at Kki. We had Mont Blanc, tall tangle strands of thin flavorful thin chestnut puree with icing sugar looks like a mountain covered with snow. Cut the mountain apart to reveal the sweet and smooth chestnut paste and light fresh cream in the centre. Visually neat looking Tiramisu feels the air with aromatic coffee smell, moist sponge covered with creamy and silky mascarpone cheese topped with a layer of bitter cocoa powder, Heavenly ! 繼續閱讀

It is a small little place in Ann Siang Hill. Inside there is also a shop selling cute little things. It is a very small place with about 20 seats.There is not much mini cakes left in the display counter when we arrive. But still we ends up having cakes and tea.NAO ($9.00)Strawberry mousse with Pistachio centreAntoinette ($9.00)white chocolate with mango centreBoth cakes tastes very light and airy, with filling in the centre.
