Came for lunch with friends and ordered:Calamari - still the same, crispy but can do with more seasoning.Portobello - this is a starter I shared with friends. Plump mushroom grilled to perfection. Delicious!!!Squid Ink Pasta - not to be consumed on first dates!!! But since Im only out with friends, eat away!!!! Pretty tasty and ingredients were also fresh. Just wish there were more really...An enjoyable meal nevertheless as they do make very decent pastas.

Fettuccine pasta with creamy saffron sauce, prawns and green zucchini $26. There were quite a number of prawns but they tasted like frozen ones which were a disappointment as I was expecting more from this establishment. This somehow tasted like the western version of our local mee pok. It was quite jelat for one person to finish it. I still prefer the crab linguine! This was a miss and I will not purchase it again.

A birthday celebration for friends at this Italian dining place tucked along the streets of Holland Village, La Nonna serves traditional Italian cuisine. When we first arrived we were served a bread basket with 2 small plates of olive oil with vinegar - common custom in some parts of Europe for customers to munch on while waiting for their food to arrive. We tried their macaroni, spaghetti, lasagna and their signature pizza. I ordered the Lasagna and kind of regret my decision after a few spoonfuls. It was quite soggy and extremely filling with the overwhelming amount of cheese (good dish for cheese lovers!) Can't say much about the rest of the dishes except that my friends liked their macaroni/spaghetti/pizza. Rather pricey place I must say.

La Nonna's! Me and my friend went down for their very worth it one for one lunch! We were not able to make reservations as they were already fully booked so we went down earlier for walk in. We arrived in good time and were the first people in the Italian restaurant. I ordered their linguine. Which is this crab meat and tomato sauce with linguine. It is really good!! The crab meat sauce is awesome! With shreds of crab meat. The serving of crab meat is really generous. And the sauce is awesome with the linguine!

this place is known more for their well-reasonable set lunches – but that’s paltry. sweets! we came here for desserts-only after lunch at al hamra; and it did us well enough, even if it was nothing too special. they have a menu of typical italian desserts – we settled on the lemon meringue tart and a pannacotta, the latter of which really is indicative of the skill of the restaurant. the tart had a great crust – buttery lemon curd (though slightly gelatinous) and sufficiently-fluffy meringue on top, and it tasted the way it ought (average food truly don’t make for descriptive adjectives). that pannacotta, though – I’m still on the lookout for a great rendition. this one is a little on the stiffer side, but still creamy enough not to offend. it didn’t have those beautiful black seeds though – so I’m guessing extract in this one. it’s difficult to be more descriptive – but if you’re skipping it all to the last line – this place is alright if you’re in the area, though I wouldn't travel for it.photos and more: http://andmorefood.wordpress.com/2013/05/26/la-nonna-holland-village/
