Fettuccine pasta with creamy saffron sauce, prawns and green zucchini $26. There were quite a number of prawns but they tasted like frozen ones which were a disappointment as I was expecting more from this establishment. This somehow tasted like the western version of our local mee pok. It was quite jelat for one person to finish it. I still prefer the crab linguine! This was a miss and I will not purchase it again.

The portions of their pizza are really huge and certainly meant for sharing! One person cannot finish it all unless you have a really big appetite. We tried their signature la nonna pizza which has cheese, asparagus, truffles and egg on top. The truffles taste was distinct and everything went well together. It was also really fragrant. I'll probably go for their pastas the next time!

crabmeat linguine $23. Slightly expensive but this tasted good! There was plenty of crab meat scattered everywhere. The sauce base was slightly creamy and best for sharing as it may be gelat. The linguine was well cooked and the shredded crabmeat was fresh. worth the try!

Friends had 2 others types of pasta and they were both pleased with their choices.

We enjoyed a 1-for-1 promotion so the meal was very value-for-money indeed. Will return when they have another promotion.

We tried their macaroni, spaghetti, lasagna and their signature pizza. I ordered the Lasagna and kind of regret my decision after a few spoonfuls. It was quite soggy and extremely filling with the overwhelming amount of cheese (good dish for cheese lovers!) Can't say much about the rest of the dishes except that my friends liked their macaroni/spaghetti/pizza. Rather pricey place I must say.

they have a menu of typical italian desserts – we settled on the lemon meringue tart and a pannacotta, the latter of which really is indicative of the skill of the restaurant. the tart had a great crust – buttery lemon curd (though slightly gelatinous) and sufficiently-fluffy meringue on top, and it tasted the way it ought (average food truly don’t make for descriptive adjectives).

that pannacotta, though – I’m still on the lookout for a great rendition. this one is a little on the stiffer side, but still creamy enough not to offend. it didn’t have those beautiful black seeds though – so I’m guessing extract in this one.

it’s difficult to be more descriptive – but if you’re skipping it all to the last line – this place is alright if you’re in the area, though I wouldn't travel for it.

Tried the squid ink ristotto at La Nonna and it was really good. The rice was covered in squid ink sauce and although i prefer squid ink pasta more, this dish is also worth a try as it has a different texture compared to the pasta version. The rice comes with squid ant tomatoes and the flavours in the dish really complements one another adding great flavour to the dish!

La Nonna is a italien restaurant that is great for casual hang out, to chill places. Tried the La Nonna pizza that consisted of asparagus, egg and cheese. Love the thin crust of the pizza and the taste of the pizza was quite unique to the restaurant. The lamb was really tender and it is definitely worth a try even for those who dislike lamb as the taste of lamb is not at all strong.

I had a really good meal previously so I brought my hubby there a second time. La Nonna is the casual, homestyle trattoria owned by the people at Senso so I was surprised that my second meal here was such a disappointment. Maybe the chef was having an "off-day".

We ate:

1) Mozzarella e Parma ($19), pan-fried mozzarella wrapped in 18-month old Parma ham. This was originally meant to be served with a mesclun salad, but I asked it to be switched out for rucola leaves instead, which the staff happily obliged. Thumbs up for the service here

2) Risotto ($20) carnaroli risotto with porcini mushrooms - horrendously watered out, with the rice grains completely mush and awfully tasteless. The mushrooms were also water-logged.

3) Ravioli ($20), filled with lobster and crabmeat fared much much better. While the pasta was slightly overcooked, the seafood was fresh, and the arrabiata sauce was tasty. Not the best pasta around, but definitely palatable

The sausages are also very delicious, although slightly saltish, but it is still bearable. The pizza is baked with a very generous amount of cheese, making it quite filling even though it is a thin crust pizza. Do try them if you like crispy thin pizzas!

A few of my decade-old friends and I went to Holland Village just the other day to hang out and have dinner, and decided on La Nonna after wandering and loitering the area for a little while. For me, it’s always hard to make a decision at Holland Village, what with the side by side by side bar cum restaurants down the street – we’re basically spoiled for choices. Having read up a tad’ bit about the restaurants at Holland V., and La Nonna being one of the few that caught my eyes, we settled for it.

The picture may not look as ambience-filled as it actually is, but if you ever intend to give this a try, ask for seats upstairs, level 2. To sidetrack a little here, when we went to the restroom (which was at level 2) at the end of our meal, we were like all pleasantly surprised at the very nice presentation and ambience of the dining area. Pity, it was booked that day we went there, so we weren’t given a seat upstairs even though we asked.

It’s always satisfying to have bread / nachos in many Mexican restaurants served before our main courses, because more often than not, we’re all starving while waiting. So we dug in immediately, and I must say, this dry but soft and tasty bread is, ‘like a nice only’. Hah.

We chose to have a pizza each after looking at the (long) list of thin-crust pizzas they have. They all have catchy, (Spanish I guess) names for the pizzas.

Nera Pizza :: $19.00++
The ever so peculiar and unique type of pizza / pasta – Squid Ink Pizza. It’s topped with a few of my favorite seafood – prawns, scallop and calamari. Needless to say, I fell in love with it.

Caprino Pizza :: $19.00++
Cold cuts’ definitely my cup of tea, and so this pizza, topped with pancetta ham, caught my attention, on top of the very interesting goat cheese being part of it. It sounds exotic enough to whet my appetite. With the mozzarella cheese, it’s enough of cheese to satisfy my high cheese intake. The rockets on it makes it easier to finish up the whole 12″ pizza.

Cocodde Pizza :: $19.00++
Food being food – it is subjective. I’m not really a mushroom person (not unless it’s sauteed mushroom in English breakfasts), so this pizza, topped with shitake mushrooms and chicken sausages, isn’t to my likings. If you’re even just a tiny mushroom hater, don’t, try this.

La Nonna 'Signature Pizza' :: $19.00++
This cheesy pizza (literally and metaphorically) is surely topped with some weird stuff – asparagus, half boiled egg and black truffle. Not the safest choice you can get, but the half-boiled egg makes the whole pizza tastes interesting and fresh (if you’re daring enough). Fortunately there isn’t much of the asparagus taste, or I’d have condemned this (not much of a vegetable fan as you can see).

Overall, the pizzas are up to standard, and worth it even though it’s $19 before taxes per pizza. It’s, for sure, filling. Plus, if you’re having the level 2 air-conditioned seats, that price paid is value for money for the ambience too. Service here is undoubtedly good – they’re friendly and will, once in a while, crack a joke or two with you. Now that’s the spirit! If you want to have a place to chill and feel at home, try La Nonna.

—> Note #1: It might look like they do not serve Iced Water what with only a wine glass on the table, but they do. Go ahead and ask for it.

—> Note #2: They have a few daily special dishes written on the board on the inside, and on the glass beside the door on the outside that you can take a look at.

—> Note #3: Like aforementioned, go for the level 2 air-conditioned seats! If you’re up for ambience that is.

Also ordered their pizza, it was quite okay! The crust is real thin and easy to cut except towards the end where it's thicker but compared to other traditional oven baked pizza, this is considered good! Others like the one at NTU pitchstop flop! It cost ard $19, quite reasonable! But if you prefer a tasty, filling and value pizza, den CANADIAN pizza or PIZZA HUT. haha!
