1) Assam fish $2.60 the assam flavour tastes authentic, it is spicy and sour at the same time. The fish has a rather thick bone though (not much flesh) and can be hard to eat because of the bone. 2) Fish Otah 1.30It will be better if they grill (or heat) it up before serving as I reckon it has been left there for some time since it is only slightly warm. But the otah is delicious and made up for it. 繼續閱讀

More often than not, one of the most recognizable forms of catering i see is the packed nasi lemak from Lee Wee and Brothers' Foodstuff. The box is coloured orange and green and so it's very easy to tell straightaway.Anyway one day while coming back to work on a Saturday, my friends and i were treated to Nasi Lemak from this stall. You can also order catering or get it from any of their stalls at major locations in Singapore. The rice is really fragrant, with the banana leaf smell and taste. The lunchbox comes with a chicken wing, otah, fish cake, ikan bilis, cucumber and chilli. These are ingredients commonly found in nasi lemak. I like the otah and fish cake as they are easy enough to eat. For the chicken wing, its hard trying to eat it with a plastic spoon. Although it looks like its prepared several hours in advance, it still tastes good. All the ingredients tasted fresh without any weird smell. The fish cake is springy, the chicken wing a little soggy (can't be helped since its been a few hours) but still tastes good. The otah is nice too. I love the chilli and its nice that its packed in little containers. If you order catering, you cannot really predict how many don't take chilli with their nasi lemak, So by putting it in a container, if the person doesn't eat chilli, he/she can remove it easily. 繼續閱讀

Apparently this franchise has many outlets (as told by my friend), but this is my first time trying. The economy bee hoon is so so, not too good, probably just passable and i'll have vegetarian bee hoon at a nice hawker stall over this anyday. The otah is ok, not too bad, but once again nothing too special. Good to go if you're looking for a quick meal to pack for lunch or so. 繼續閱讀

Really surprise that out in town still have otah which is non spicy. This is available at Lee Wee & Brother's stalls, which you can actually buy it on its own or to have it in their coconut rice set as well. The set meal is quite affordable and the portion is decently good too. Like their coconut rice which have their grains separated well and the rice is full with fragrant from the coconut milk and pandan leaves. The chilli sauce also give quite a good impact to this dish as well. However I should say I do not really like their non spicy otah which is quite tasteless and the texture is quite similar to fish cakes. 繼續閱讀

Went to all the malay stalls and asked for takeaway ikan bilis in a tub. NONE of them wanted to sell just ikan bilis! Then I found Lee Wee and they sold ikan bilis in a tub! You can choose to have ikan bilis original with peanuts and chilli or ikan bilis withOUT peanuts with chilli. I love the ikan bilis without peanuts, so i got a pack. The ikan bilis without peanuts is more expensive than the ikan bilis with peanuts. Without peanuts is $3.20 for 120 grams. With peanuts is $2.70 for 120 grams. The ikan bilis was sticky and a bit spicy and very salty and crunchy. It doesn't taste as fresh and good as the malay stall's ikan bilis that are fried on the day. But if you want to takeaway, this is your only option. Not really recommended as it didn't taste like malay ikan bilis. And it's very expensive. And it's made of the big ikan bilis which are more bitter than the small ikan bilis due to more intestines. 繼續閱讀
