More than a year since my last visit (continuing reading after this) , Maison Kayser still dishes out pretty much same offerings for bread and pastries. But a closer look revealed something new. The Chocolate Caramel Tart ($6.30) looks promising but the tart is not exactly crunchy. Sitting beneath the swirls of cocoa-dusted chocolate mousse, the caramel layer can be lifted with teeny bits of sea salt. Relievingly, there were two decent finds. The Matcha Mascarpone breaks the conventions by replacing the red bean with a subtly sweet milk chocolate ganache. With a silky matcha mascarpone of above-average intensity, this was quite a good deal at $5.50.

Ispahan is no longer a sole propriety of Pierre Herme as it has been replicated many times all over the world. I was delighted to find this Ispahan Eclair ($3.70) that contained a lovely lychee-raspberry pastry cream perfumed with rose scents. The choux pastry wasn't good, obviously, but who cares when it tastes so pleasant, especially right out of the fridge.

Maison Kayser is a nice place for me to chill in the late afternoon. I had their eclair set, which was one of their best selling pastries. I choose the coffee eclair and a cup of hot chocolate to go with it. The length of the eclair was around 15cm and it was filled with rich and creamy coffee cream. I find that the pricing was reasonable, as the the eclair has made my money worth, thus I will be coming back to try their other eclair soon.

Though its been few months ago, I can still remember the goodness of the Croissant. Its buttery, flaky and light. The Baguette I kept overnight and light toasted the next morning was crispy and fresh. Goes well with a spread of butter on the slices.

Besides breads, they also sell pastries and cakes.

Just visited maison kayser for lunch today. I had a chocolate hazelnut croissant for my lunch. The croissant was pretty tasty, being sweet with a nutty and chocolatey flavour, however I felt that it wasnt very outstanding. the pastry itself was pretty normal, maybe I had too high expectations of this well known brand but the croissant did not wow me. Cost 3.30 per piece

Had my lunch at Maison Kayser located at the basement of Scotts Square. Ordered their Croissant scrabble egg set lunch which comes with a soup. Soup of the day (Tomato soup) - The soup was quite watery and sour. Since i am not a fan of tomato, this soup does not suit my taste buds. The set lunch - The croissant was crispy at the outer layer but really soft inside. It had a very strong buttery taste. The scrabble egg & the bacon was quite normal.

Read more food reviews at http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.comWhile their breads are indeed awesome, their other stuff were relatively sub-par. We had:1) Croissant ($2.43): an aromatic, fresh out of the oven confection. Its crisp flaky exterior peeled away to reveal soft chewy and airy insides. It was totally addictive. It's definitely comparable with Antoinette's version, and a worthwhile alternative. Anytime Antoinette runs out of their croissants, I'll know where else to get my croissant fix!

1) Croissant ($2.43): an aromatic, fresh out of the oven confection. If I had to choose between the two, I'd say that Antoinette trumps Maison Kayser, because their mains, and not just their breads, are delicious.

2) Tuna Sandwich ($10.65 for the lunch set with a soup), with emmental cheese, cucumbers and tuna mayo (made unique with the addition of diced pickles) wedged between a crusty ciabatta, didn't fare as well. It was a little plainish, plus, it didn't help that the cucumbers were bitter.

3) Cream of Broccoli (soup-of-the-day part of the lunch set) had way too much milk and cream but too little broccoli. It was insipid and watery. I could hardly make out a taste the broccoli in this.

It has the sweet taste and the sweetness level isn’t high.BY doesn’t take too sweet stuffs but she find it is very delicious.

I ordered Scramble egg with croissant @S$5.60. It is recommended by the service staff. The exterior of the croissant was cripsy and light taste while the innards are soft and flaky.

We also ordered another tea time set which is Eclair Tea Time Set @S$5.61. There is an option between chocolate and coffee and i wanted to try chocolate but there isn’t any left so the only option is coffee flavor. This is the best eclair that i found so far in Singapore. The coffee specks throughout the custard filling inside which was adequately sweet and the taste of the coffee isn’t very strong. It is done perfectly well. I will definitely try their chocolate eclair soon.
All the price stated exclude 10% service charge and 7% GST. Total damage @S$20.91. The service staff is friendly and they will provide suggestion when you ask for their opinions. However, the staff wasn’t prompt to response as it took them quite a while to notice us when we put our hand up for bill.

Came here to try out the pastries that are raved about by all my friends. Tried the almond croissant which was absolutely delicious! Although not the most visually appealing pastry, the croissant was really really yummy. It was served warm and was crunchy on the outside and almost cookie like, while the inside was soft and buttery with a distinct taste of almonds!

For the Eclair set you can choose Chocolate, Cafe or Vanilla and it also comes with 1 drink. I picked the Cafe Eclair which has a coffee fragrant. the choux pastry was filled with cream and the top had a coffee cream. It is thinner and longer that your usual eclair. Length about 5 inch long.

Among the tea set I prefer the taste & texture of the Eclair which was yummy. If you buy just the eclair it will cost you at least $3.80.

For Drink you can pick either Original Blend Coffee, Earl Grey Tea or Espresso.

The breakfasts here are great. The scrambled eggs are nicely done and not dry or overly wet. Served with bread basket and butter. The bacon is a bit too stringy and thin, with not much meat on it. Another new bakery in town. Nice breads. Would recommend having breakfasts here. It's a relaxed environment. The takeaway always has a long line and things get sold out very early. Their various breads are very well balanced, dense yet soft, and very flavourful. Served with butter. It's very moreish and you can't stop having the breads! The coffee was pretty good too. Service is polite and friendly but very slow. There were crumbs everywhere from other previous diners.

Love the pastries here! Fresh, fluffy and tasty! I recommend the almond pastry and the white chocolate bread. The almond pastry is fkuffy and crispy and not too sweet. The white chocolate bread is fresh and tasty and it just makes you want to have more of it.service is also good, the waiter was keen to serve and recommend and kept asking for our feedback. This is indeed a great place for teabreaks!

Mrupupup bought one bread with chocolate (with photo) -'pain au chocolate' (french words - meaning bread with chocolate). Maison Kayser is also an outlet where one can sit down to slowly enjoy the bread with coffee.

So, decided we'd check it out for breakfast on a weekend. Arrived slightly before 11am on a Saturday and easily got a table. There were breakfast sets with espresso and 2 pastries for about $10. I had a croissant/pain au chocolat and the boyfriend had a croissant/apple turnover. They were among the best we've had in Singapore - flaky outside, soft inside, real chocolate filling (not the plasticky stuff they use at BreadTalk).

Anyway, we paid for breakfast then went up to the counter to see what they had for bread loaves. They were giving samples of their tomato bread and it was *divine*. We took a loaf of that and of the ciabatta which is also excellent. In the past 3 weeks since I first visited, I'd stopped by 3 times for the bread. If you prefer European style breads that aren't sweet, you'll love it!

The chocolate eclairs come in two different versions- one dark chocolate and the other milk chocolate with praline(?). I had the dark chocolate one and I was impressed by the intense dark chocolate topping on top and the very fresh, sweeter chocolate cream inside. But the pastry was a little dense and it would be great if it had been fluffier. The vanilla eclair was also quite nice; the topping and generous fresh cream filling had a strong vanilla taste to it, especially with the little black vanilla pods floating on the vanilla topping.
