Full Manbok review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2015/10/manbok-chinatown-korean-bbq-steamboat.htmlManbok Chinatown Korean BBQ & Steamboat in Singapore Chinatown has been around for a while now. Among the more well known of the Korean barbecue and steamboat concept, particularly for their value for money prices, owner Mr. Tan tells us that the name 'Manbok Chinatown Korean BBQ & Steamboat' also represents 'a fortune of millions' in Mandarin!Ambience at Manbok is decent for an indoor barbecue outlet. The biggest bugbear of such establishments is smell, fortunately, the exhaust nozzels directly above each table takes care of the majority of it. There is still some lingering smell of cooking, but this subsides quickly, a lot better than other places! Furnishings are spacious and functional enough for comfort, and I like the brightly lit area. Food displays are clearly labelled and kept chilled, but the salad / condiment corner is hidden behind a wall and not immediately visible.Service at Manbok is polite and efficient. Staff have basic working product knowledge, able to explain in simple English / Mandarin the food available, as well as guide you how to operate the barbecue grill on the table. I also commend them for coming around often to change the grilling plate when it turns black from grilling. They also proactively clear away empty / dirty plates, rather than letting it pile up on your table. Good!Food at Manbok is all about meat... a carnivore's dream! The star is the selection of 10 different cuts of meat (beef, pork, chicken) for barbecue / grilling, as well as the selection of seafood for the steamboat. The selection of salads is rather small though. Manbok also offers a small selection of 3 cooked food items, these are changed daily for returning diners. Communal dining is a must here, at least 2 people, though a group of 4 or more is recommended. Their Korean food is authentic and generally tasty, but their non-Korean food tends to be rather flat and not that tasty. Prices are reasonably cheaper than elsewhere, budget about SGD $18 for lunch, and SGD $32 for dinner, per person. The highlight of a meal here is the beautiful, large slabs of meat, chilled on ice. Pick from 10 different cuts! My personal favourites would be the Marinated Beef Short Rib, and the Marinated Pork Belly.Loved the Maneul Dak Ganjang / Garlic Soy Sauce Chicken Wings, this is easily the best cooked food item here! The chicken wings have a crisp, savoury, slightly salty skin that is fragrant with garlic. The chicken meat is moist and tender, coming off the bone easily. Chef tells us he only makes this in small batches, as the skin gets soggy when it cools, so it has to be eaten quickly! 繼續閱讀

Manbok Chinatown is located at Chinatown, as the name implies, and thus very convenient to get to. This is a Korean BBQ Restaurant, and the very affable owner Mr. Tan proudly told us that the name means "a million fortunes" (万富) in Chinese. What a prosperous name!A neatly-organised section serves all the necessities required for grilling or the soup - seafood, sausages, vegetables, eggs, mushrooms etc.The array of marinated and non-marinated meat selection was pretty impressive - around 10 types of them colourfully displayed in two rows. The meats consisted of Chicken Breast, Chicken Legs, Pork Belly, Marinated Pork Collar, Bacon, Spicy Pork Belly, Beef Chuck Tender, Beef Short Ribs, Pork Collar and Beef Short Ribs (non-marinated). My favorite was the Marinated Pork Collar, Spicy Pork Belly and Beef Short Ribs - utterly tender and tasty, thus giving rise to multiple helpings.Usually there would be 3 types of cooked items as well. For tasting purpose, we got to try more. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why these Korean Garlic Chicken Wings made it to the top of our list - crispy, flavourful and simply finger-licking good. From the cooked food to the grilled food to the soup, it was all very enjoyable. I really like the BBQ chimney used here - someone the entire dining experience did not leave us smokey or greasy, and the smell that lingered on us was toned down significantly. Service was excellent and price is reasonable - I will definitely be back for more, whenever the cravings kick in.For full review and more detailed information, please refer here:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/10/media-invite-dinner-at-manbok-korean.html 繼續閱讀

Manbok has a wide variety of meat in various marinate for BBQ-ing. The meat was fully thawed, no icings or huge chunks still frozen together. There is also lots of fresh seafood- prawns, clams, musses and squid.Manbok also serves ingredients for its clam soup steamboat. The clams were an absolute love- sweet and juicy and there are tons more of clams at the buffet table for us to add to the soup. There were also authentic Korean dumplings (mandu) and rice cakes (ddeokbok). Manbok is not certainly not compromising on the variety of its offerings, and the quality of them. 繼續閱讀

Manbok Chinatown served buffet lunch until 3 pm daily. Experiencing Korean BBQ at a reasonably priced at S$14.00 per person with a pretty good spread of food. This restaurant is next to Oriental Plaza. Each table is equipped with a smoke suction device. If you are a meat lover, you will definitely agreed with me that its indeed value for money. There is also wide variety of banchan (side dishes) with free flow of drink. A big pot of Ddukbokki is made available to diners. Having seen repeatedly this dish at various KDrama series, this is my first experience with the dish and I find it tasteless. The not so sticky flour covered with tomato and chilli sauce does not suit my taste bud.At the meat counter were generous amount of different types of meat. Chicken, beef, pork and the Samgyeopsal (3 layered flesh unmarinated pork. This dish must definitely dipped with ssamjang paste. We only arrived at this restaurant around 2.10pm and had only about less than an hour for the buffet lunch.I could only find the squids available from the seafood section. Probably they did not replenish anymore of the seafood dishes past lunch time. The generous amount of lettuces in a big basket is definitely a good wrap for all the grilled meats. The service was good. The grilled plates are replaced every 10 minutes ensuring that the customers have a clean grill for different dishes. The broth for Budaejjigae are topped up regularly without even requesting for it. I was in such a hurry to complete my lunch that I have forgotten to take a photo of the hot stew. 繼續閱讀
