Cha Shu don (<$10). Cha shu was moist, tender and not very fatty. The meat had also absorbed the essence of the gravy. The gravy also complemented well with the plain rice which wasn't dry/lumpy.

The restaurant was located along the Japanese Village of Jurong Point Shopping Mall with a very small shop front though their signage is quite big. There were quite a lot of people having their dinner fix here too but we were lucky to be able to get a seats without much waiting.

Tables and chairs are all placed near to each other due to small restaurant size
As for the space of the restaurant, due to smaller space constraint, the tables and chairs are placed near to each other though that did not bother most of the people in there due to nice ramen being served here.

They provide Free Upsize for noodles (Ramen)
There are quite a few dishes to choose from mainly ramen and it does not take a long time before we decided to our dishes. As the restaurant give free upsize for their ramen, I just get it upsize as I am quite hungry from all the windows shopping and etc.

One thing which attracts me from coming back for more of their ramen is their marinated vegetables which are very nice and crunchy. The taste of these are very nice as a starter or as a side compliment for the ramen. Sometimes, these are not being placed on the tables and you need to request for it. The staff there are quite friendly and willing to give you if you request for them nicely.

The ramen are very nice, firm and chewy while the soup base is great. Based on their information, Tonkotsu is a cloudy white broth resulted from boiling pork bones over long hours and they are rich in collagen with hearty flavour and creamy consistency. The Charsiew are very tender and fully marinated and powered by the nice soup base.

Even their menu shows that the Charsiew served in Men-ichi were selected from good quality bara niku (Boned rib) and pan-fried lightly to bring out its natural flavour. Each piece was boiled for 2.5 hours and left overnight to fully absorb the flavour of its sauce.

The soup based of Shoyu is a bit darker than the Paitan version and a bit more saltier though the overall taste was still as great as it was to be. Other than the different in flavour, the rest of the taste is actually the same as they used the same ingredients for their ramen including the 70% boiled braised egg (half).

Based on their menu, their noodles are 100% homemade using numerous rounds of research and trial, yielding a medium-thick noodle 1.4mm in thickness and 30cm in length. Each strand boasts the aroma of wheat and an irresistibly springy texture which I believe they are truth due to the nice taste of their dishes.

My friend was craving ramen so we decided to try this small establishment amongst the japanese section at Jurong Point. The bowl had plenty of ramen noodles and not enough broth--one of their promotional seasonal items. I'm always tempted to ask if the broth can be refilled. I felt like there was a lot of care in cooking my ramen and the pieces of charsiu were thick and filling. The bowl looked small at first, but I was full before I was even halfway done.

This place can be rathered crowded even on a weekday night. The limited seating means that it is not a place for dwelling too long. Food is served rather promptly and tables are cleared pretty fast. On this night, my partner and I ordered the shoyu tonkotsu ramen, which was approximately $15 each. It came with some slices of char siew, which was well-flavored. As for the soup, it was strong, without being too salty. The portion size was decent enough for a single person eating.

Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen (2pcs charsiew) (SGD12.90)
For 5pcs charsiew, it's $15.90. The broth was super thick and flavourful! I am not really a fan of pork esp the fatty parts but the charsiew was so good I had everything including the fats and this is saying something!! I love everything about it.

Top up for the eggs as well, because I am a fan of such eggs!

I actually feel this is better than Ippudo or Ramen Santouka! :/

Paitan Tonkotsu Ramen (5pcs charsiew) (SGD15.90)

Both the broth actually taste the same to me but I still love this!!

By the way, for big eaters, upsizing of ramen is FREEEEE!

Some things to take note, the restaurant is a little small though and if you are going in a big group, you might have to wait a while. I went there alone so I opted for counter seat.

Oh and sometimes the staff are not really attentive when you want to make an order!

Was craving for ramen after school one day, and my friend recommended that emn-ichi serves pretty decent ramen so we came here and give it a try.I ordered cha siew ramen and the standard of the food was quite okay. Personally, i feel that the cha siew was not soft enough, not those kind that will literally melt in your mouth when eating (like the one at Santouka's). The soup was okay, quite tasty. The egg is very soft and with a hint of soy sauce when you eat it.

Loves this dish the most out of all dishes. A big piece of fried egg that comes with crab meat and mushrooms with the sweet Japanese sauce on its top and sprinkled with spring onions as its garnishing. Although it is served fried, one will expect it to be dry, however it isnt the case, it is very moist!

My friend and I had Teriyaki chicken Ramen one each. The everything was similar to the Paitan Tonkotsu ramen less, char siew meat and egg. It comes with the yummy Teriyaki chicken meat, each piece was still coated with the sauce despite that it was being placed into the broth. One should try this if we get bored about Char Siew Ramen.
Cost: S$11.90

This was also part of the set items. The pan-fried japanese gyoza's dough is just another thin layer that wraps up the succulent minced meat filling. Fried till a little bit crispy and with some soft portions in between, it makes quite a good side dish in the set meal especially when its not too oily.

Service
Service is rather fine and of average standard. Servers are friendly and words of caution were given as the dipping sauce bowl is scalding hot.

Ambience
Men-ichi is located in the Japanese street of Jurong Point shopping centre and as we walked pass, your clothing and the air are filled with the strong smoke produced by the Japanese restaurants. Men-Ichi, particularly has their cashier counters decorated with a handful of "Zhao Cai" Cats. In the belief, these cats with the waving paws will bring prosperity to the business.

Price
Pricing is if the market standard. Since it is located in the Japanese food street, MEN-ICHI has been known for its reasonable price and tasty ramen.

Recommendations / Tips
Too much MSG was added. I have been drinking bottles of water ever since the dinner.

Service is quick. Ramen is served pretty fast when order.

Menu is placed on the table and during wait outside in the queue, it is better for customer to make their choices and order direct once they have got their tables.

Food is generally ok and not that kind of tip top fantastic. There are many better ramen outlets.

We ordered crabmeat and mushroom omelette and braised pork too. The braised pork - too busy eating that I forgot to take photo of it - was very delicious, the sauce was a little sweet and had a nice flavour. The omelette was done very well too. It was half-cooked and the teriyaki sauce spammed atop of it balance the flavours of it. Even though there wasn't a lot of crabmeat and mushrooms, I still like the egg because it is special. The rice was alright, nothing to rave about. The ramen was nice, I like the broth. It was light on the palate and not too oily. Noodles were springy too.

I personally love Men-ichi's ramen but never tried the Shoyu Tonkotsu, or their char siew. The soup was not too different and I threw away all the char siew after the first bite. Men-ichi has a wide selection of tasty ramen, so I'd recommend something else like Curry Cheese Ramen or Teriyaki Salmon (tonkotsu) ramen.

Visited this Japanese restaurant as was really attracted by the trendy and nice japanese decoration and furnishings here. Have tried their ramen soup and was not really delighted with it. The ramen is quite chewy and is quite alright. However I think the soup base is abit too salty and the thinly sliced pork belly is also abit tough in texture and quite bland in taste as well. The seaweed and hard boiled eggs does not add in any additional points to this bowl of ramen as well.

Noodles wise, Men-ichi has usual, doesn't lose out to other ramen restaurants. Noodles were well-cooked and bouncy. I have had the Tonkotsu soup from Men-ichi before but never the spicy version. The tonkotsu soup is very concentrated and sweet. It was indeed spicy but bearable kind of spiciness. However, the chilli did overpower the taste of tonkotsu soup.

Overall, it was tasty but I got sick of it slightly because all there was to eat with the noodles is the egg. No vegetables or eggs to go with it.

It costs $11.90 and you can upsize the noodles to 20% more (in quantity) for free.
