Our order of seafood curry meal.  If you remove the side of the plate and half of the curry sauce the size will not look that big. It's what some food critic said a trick of the eye. Thinking it was big we share this order between the 3 of us. Since we have some snack before going to Monster curry. Have seen some people eating this monster curry by themselves which is possible. Was attracted by the mega monster portion whenever I passed by that shop, seeing huge plates on the tables. Finally got to dine there and chose the Pork Katsu Curry ($13) with one flame (up to 5 flames). The pork katsu is very crispy and juicy, served with a side portion of yummy coleslaw. The curry is actually not very spicy as the flame actually is a dollop of chilli, so unless you mix the chilli together with the curry and rice, you will feel the spiciness. If you eat just the curry alone without mixing the chilli, it is not spicy at all. The Cheese Pork Katsu Curry ($14) is even nicer than the Pork Katsu, there is a slight burnt smell on the cheese itself, giving it an even better taste. The goodness of the cheese together swirled with the pork katsu is heavenly! Next time, choose the one with cheese, it is nicer!!Portion is considered big, but if one is hungry, it is possible to finish the whole plate! Recommended by my friends, this is a nice place to gather with friends and share food together, a time for all 4 of us went there and ordered the Monster Combo Curry and Mountain Monster Curry. The monster combo curry which consist of pork katsu , fried fish, tempura, cheese, pork shabu-shabu. Mountain monster curry consist of pork katsu, sausage, chicken karoago. From the photos you can see the portion is a lot even 4 of us eating just 2 bowl of it we could not finish it. As you can see from the photos there is a orange orange red flame on top of the curry , that symbolism the level of as chilli as my friend scare that it might be too spicy hence we ask for 2 flame only. Monster Curry claims to be the biggest and heaviest Japanese Curry Rice in Singapore. Probably yes because it’s the biggest (hence heaviest) plate I’ve seen being used to serve curry rice. See the picture below where I had compared the size of the plate to the can drink.I ordered one Monster Combo Curry set to share with my husband and it came with pork katsu, fried fish, pork shabu-shabu, prawn tempura and grated cheese. When the rice was served to our table, I was thrilled to see the variety of ingredients soaked in a massive amount of gravy. Yum yum yum.The pork katsu, fried fish and prawn tempura were crispy but I found them a little too greasy with a slightly thick batter on the outside. The fish was fresh with no fishy smell and the prawns had a good crunch too. The pork shabu-shabu was surprisingly tender and very tasty. Even the coleslaw was lovely with a soury sweet thousand-island like dressing that really whetted the appetite.There are 5 spicy levels to choose from:1 Flame (Normal Hot)2 Flame (Extra Hot)3 Flame (Very Hot)4 Flame (Super Hot)5 Flame (Monster Hot)And we picked Extra Hot which I presumed was the chilli sauce that was drizzled over the curry. The curry sauce was a clear winner. It tasted different from the packet Japanese curry sauces we could get from the supermarket. Monster Curry sounds more like an animation rather than a restaurant. However, in Singapore Monster Curry is restaurant serve a jumbo size Japanese curry with different type of protein such as chicken, eggs, pork, prawns, fish and scallops. I was looking for a place to grab a quick bite after collecting my rewards from one of the food review website. When I spotted Monster Curry, my cravings for Japanese curry just get the better of me. Quick look at the menu, I decided to order Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry ($14). You actually has a choice of spicy level from 1 (normal hot) to 5 (monster hot). I decided to went with normal hot. When I grab a seat after ordering, then after looking around the area, I realised that I was in a deep trouble. I saw how huge the plate was and normally each couple is sharing one dish. So when the dish come, I was staring at a 30cm in diameter huge plate. The rice filled more than half of the plate and the protein is the same size as the rice, with shaved cheese covering the top of my pork katsu. On the side, a few pieces of Japanese pickle and shaved cabbage. Staring blank at the plate, I was starting to wonder how am I going to finish it.The pork katsu is quite tender and the batter is very thin and crispy. The curry is thick, flavourful and generous in portion. As I have only ordered a spicy level of normal hot, they added only one chilli sauce heart shape. Although the katsu is tender, it is also very lean, so you can feel on some part to be dry, instead of juicy all over. For the curry, it is served just like a sauce instead of with potatoes and carrots like other normal Japanese restaurant. Service wise is very minimum. You place your order in the counter, make payment and they send the food to your table when it is done. So interaction with them is very minimum, other example of Japanese fast food culture with low labour cost involved. Like a normal Japanese establishment, we are still greeted very warmly as we enter or exit the restaurant.Overall, I find the portion is tremendous and generous, so you won't mind paying a little bit more. Thus, if you are looking for a place to satisfy your Japanese Curry, give this restaurant a try. I assure you that you won't come out unfulfilled. Kanpai! Just when i thought that Japanese curry is sweet, this place proved me otherwise. Their curry is served in different level of spiciness. I order the Monster Combo Curry in 5 flames sauces. However, it is not as spicy as i thought. Probably i am the one who has a rather high tolerate for spicy. Among all the food in that gigantic plate, i would say that the curry sauce, rice and fish are the best. The pork katsu is rather too tough and ebi fry is coated with too much flour on that tiny little prawn. The pork shabu shabu is alright also. Overall, the dish is fine at the price offered ! What if you didn't want anything fried here?Of course there are items on the menu that aren't fried so not to fear.Building up muscle mass with some carbo here at Monster Curry.I ordered the shabu pork and omu rice. Making add-ons for sausage and cheese. And a level 5 for curry. The shabu pork was simply done retaining its original flavours. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and moist enveloping grains of japanese short rice grains. The sausages came in two pairs. Crunchy sausage casings and savoury pork fillings. They serve you your curry rice either in a one person portion, or it's big enough portion for 2 persons or the super hungry fellow Me and my friend split this between us :)We ordered the Sea Monster Curry which consists of fried scallops, fried fish, tempura and fried shrimp!The curry spiciness can be chose, hence i ordered a extra hot (2 flames) curry to go along with our rice and ingredients!Overall, the dish's yummy but we agreed that it's a just nice portion for 2 It would have been better if it was more or it could be that we were hungry? First time here since the change from Gorilla Go! Go! curry and i'm surprised to see that the menu has expanded to include so many new items. I had the seafood monster curry ($24) with cheese and boy was it massive. a happy assortment of seafood items including prawns, scallops and a generous piece of dory. I had a level 5 spicy curry and to be honest, it wasn't all that spicy although it is said to be made from sambal. The fruit curry was sourish sweet and coupled with some heat, this was some addictive gravy! My first visit to try this Monster Curry - the world best curry. I would agree so! For the first time after eating Japanese style curry, I actually crave for more of it. I ordered the sausage curry rice which costs $11.00. As I picked my rice portion to be half size, the price was reduced by $1.00. Cool right? You can tailor your own portion and choose the level of spicy-ness. I chose the "SUPER HOT" - 2nd hottest range. Hmm... to me, i think it was still not spicy yet but my colleagues felt that it was very spicy. They chose "mild hot" and "hot" for their portions. Worth a try if you have not been here to eat yet. My colleague actually bought me over to Monster Currcy at ION. Pretty impressive with it. IT really have huge plates and the portion is pretty big, good enough for 2 if you're not very hungry. However, I did not finish my plate as it is a huge amount for me and I'm just gorging it down. I had Fried fish Katsu Rice with only 1 flame because I can't take real spicy curry. On the contrary, my colleague took 2 & 3 flames but they said the curry don't taste much except the chilli itself. As you can see the pictures, the number of circles are the levels of flames. Headed for lunch with a few colleagues. The restaurant is properly renovated, but sitting capacity is rather small. What i rather like is that you don't walk in to find a table, you ordered at the counter and they tell you which table to sit, which sorts of stop those "tissue choping" people.We ordered the Cheesy Pork Katsu Curry Rice, Pork Shabu Shabu Curry Rice, Fish Fillet Curry Rice and the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. You get to choose the level of Spiciness ranging from 1 to 5. According to the counter staff, you can actually request higher levels if you are game for it. The food came quite fast and the plates they used were huge. Well, the cheese didn't melt entirely and it doesn't really go well with the curry. As you can see from the photo, the number of "rings" on the curry tells you what level of spiciness, this is a 3 flame curry sauce. at $14, it's not really worth the money.The fish was pretty well done.The Prok Shabu Shabu seems like th emost bang for buck dish, comes with omelette as well.…查看更多

As foretold, a second visit to Monster Curry within a month of my first. Venturing further afield this time, I did request for a level of spice above the default. I chose level 2 and imagine my amusement when there were 2 little squiggles on my curry when the plate was served, each indicating an additional spice level.This time round, I ordered the Cheese Pork Katsu Curry. I was a tad disappointed that the cheese was not embedded in the pork loin like a proverbial Cordon Bleu, but rather cheese strips laid out upon the hot pork katsu to melt. Even so, the overall taste was good, the cheese quite effectively lending moisture to the pork katsu that tended more to the dry side and as ever, the curry was great and hit the right notes perfectly. I would however lend caution to those who are not accustomed to higher than normal spice levels. For my lunch, I ordered the Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry. As for the spiciness level, I ordered the maximum level of spiciness, which is 5 star. This was also reflected in my dish, from the 5 orange colour twirls that you can see on the curry sauce. I presume they are the chilli sauce and for a chilli lover like me, I felt it's quite spicy but I like and am able to take the spiciness.My meal cost $16.45 in total, inclusive of GST and service charge. I headed over to ION for my Japanese curry rice fix and decided to try Monster Curry! I ordered the Pork Katsu Curry ($14) with the spiciness level (Normal, Extra Hot, Very Hot, Super Hot, Monster Hot) at Extra Hot. The portion was literally, a monster size! I was greeted by a giant plate of rice with generous amounts of curry doled at the side. The presentation may not be much and the katsu wasn't fantastic either(You can get better katsu elsewhere), but the curry was just the right flavor in my opinion, not too starchy nor salty! The spiciness level was just right for me too. Honestly I am a huge fan of spicy food and curries but spicy Japanese curries seemed like an odd combination for me, so the Extra Hot level was just nice. It was definitely more spicy than the normal japanese curries you would find in other japanese restaurants, but it had a peppery zing to it that was very refreshing.The plate was so huge that I could barely finish it, leaving about 1/3 untouched. If you are a small eater or if you happened to be not-very-hungry, I'd recommend the plate to share (Monster Combo Curry at $21).
