My new favourite burger

Love this new Osaka-yaki Rice Burger from Mos. Between the rice burger is a seafood patty with a delicious pan fried egg and cabbage topped with bonito flakes, together with the very flavourful okonomiyaki sauce, it is so tasty and addictive! The burger comes in rice burger or burger form, I like it more the rice burger version. Also tried the Matcha Latte ($3.80) for the first time; in fast food standards, it is not too bad. This japanese croquette is quite different from the other sold from other japanese restaurants. Firstly the size of it is almost double the size and is much thicker in texture. Inside also filled with quite generous amount of mixed dice vegetable in it which added that extra flavour and crunchiness to it. The price is sort of a bit high, which is more than two dollars per piece, but I should say it is still quite reasonable priced.

Mountain Ocean Sky (MOS) Burger at Tiong Bahru :)

If you've read many reviews saying that MOS Burger only have great rice burgers, well this is one other review that tell you ALL their burgers are equally GREAT. Ordered my favourite Fish Burger for $3.75. This is about $0.45 more expensive than the one you have at McDonalds. To add a set meal (French Fries + Drink (Coke)), you have to top up about $3.90. Most people change to Ice Milk Tea, it's a refreshing caffeinated drink that can cause you to stay awake till wee hours of the morning if you

Most people change to Ice Milk Tea, it's a refreshing caffeinated drink that can cause you to stay awake till wee hours of the morning if you gobble up one Medium Cup in the late evening (at least that what happened to me!).

 The Ice Milk tea comes on a separate cup of ice tea (With sugar) and a few capsules of milk where you add them in yourself. I have great fun doing so because it's a lot of flexibility and personalization in which you get to choose how much milk you want to have in your cup. For those who are lactose-intolerant, (well my friend is), fear not! My lactose-intolerant friend added 5 capsules on his LARGE ice milk tea and had no trouble. Of course, don't take a risk if you'd have a super huge reaction against milk.

 This Teriyaki Chicken Burger is topped with sweet brown sauce and a patty that has tough, juicy meat for you to sink your teeth in. The fluffy bread is also taken into deep consideration as it goes really well with the meat. However, the portion is really small for guys (MALE GENDERS).

 Thus, my friend ended up buying a Hokkaido croquette ($3+). It wasn't that tasty, in fact the croquette was quite oily and I was quite sure he regretted buying it. However it does a great job of filling up his stomach (and mine too!).

 Initially my friend was asking if the coffee in Mos burger was good because it's not freshly brewed with espresso machines. So I said 'no'. But I was pleasantly surprised that their coffee was quite good too! Well the caffeine is really strong (because I couldn't sleep until the 3rd watch of the night). It's smooth texture with a sweet aroma is something that you can get at premium coffee outlets, thus MOS burger do actually make quite good coffee too! The coffee cost about $2.

And I've been told that a lot of people don't know what MOS stands for. If I'm not wrong, it's actually Mountain, Ocean and Sky, thus don't be surprised if you receive cups or burger wrapped with pictures of mountains/ocean/sky. I really love the simple layout of the fast food outlet, and how the restaurant actually hires senior citizens and really old adults to serve. Although the service was really really slow, I'm still quite pleased because it helped me to learn to be patient with the ageing population of our society and it gives them a purpose in their season of their lives!

Food Attempted - Yakiniku Rice Burger + Corn Soup
Outlet - Tiong Bahru Plaza

I recalled eating a MOS rice burger a long time ago and back then, I felt that the rice was bland and non-appealing. Though I gave it a second shot today, my verdict remains unchanged. The beef was tasty though, but difficult to bite off into smaller, manageable pieces. Similar to eating a Big Mac, the consumption of this burger was difficult and bits of the burger were falling everywhere.

The corn soup was ordinary to me. I would have liked it to be creamier and contain bits of corn. I was expecting "corn-lets" in the soup, but there was nothing to munch in the soup, save for the croutons.

Though the MOS outlet at Tiong Bahru Plaza is small, one can easily find seats for a table of 4 during peak hours as there are other food outlets to distract the lunch crowd. The counter staff who served me today was an old man and he was very slow in taking and serving orders. It struck me that despite his slowness, I was very patient and tolerant towards him. If he belonged to another nationality (I'm assuming he's Singaporean), I would have sent lightning bolts to the poor counter staff! Just food for thought!

Mos Chicken and Teriyaki Burger

Mos Burger famous in their rice burger and teriyaki chicken burger. Too bad that they do not have the teriyaki rice burger. I ordered the teriyaki burger and add one Mos Chicken and complete my meal with the frozen strawberry.Teriyaki Chicken burger: Meat is tender and mixed well with their special teriyaki sauce. Mos Chicken: Cripsy outside and juicy inside. Frozen Strawberry: 3 pcs of strawberry with vanilla ice cream coated white chocolate selling at $1.60. Nice dessert choice.
