Steak and Eggs ($23+): A 150g grilled ribeye steak topped with two sunny-side up eggs, served with their homemade entrecote sauce. The steak was juicy and very flavourful and not too uncooked for my liking.

Mac and Cheese ($18+): This is macaroni baked with creamy bechamel sauce and four cheeses. Even though it was just plain Mac and Cheese, no other ingredients, it was superbbb. The cheese was so tasty and rich, probably because four types of cheese are used here. The portion was just nice, deliberately smaller so you don't feel jelat halfway.

DIY Steak Sandwich ($22+): The grilled US Angus ribeye steak with balsamic onions are placed beside the toasted ciabatta cut smaller for easier consumption, and it's up to you how you wanna pair both together and eat it. The was good as usual, same as the Steak and Eggs! The ciabatta was crispy and somehow the kind that you won't get full very easily.

Cheddar Cheese Bacon Waffles ($19+): Cheddar cheese and bacon bits are baked into their signature waffles, and served with a side of bacon and chive sour cream. The waffles were really crispy. The cheese inside wasn't the gooey kind, but I could still taste it together with the bacon bits. The bacon on the side was nicely grilled too.

Nassim Hill Bakery is a good place to go for delicious food, and they have quite a wide variety of drinks too. Their Happy Hour promotion of 1-for-1 draught beers lasts the whole day from 9am to 9pm.
題外話/補充資料: Sometimes they have credit card promotions of 1-for-1 mains, so do look out for that!

It's almost a year and I have not forgotten the place, that's why I'm back here at Tanglin Post Office again. For those who drive, parking can be a little tricky as there are limited free parking lots in front of this Bakery Bistro Bar and if you are lucky you get free parking. If not, you will have to park at the basement and pay the standard parking fee.

Spacious, wide and filled with a semi rustic designed interior whereby flooring are cemented yet not looking rundown. Be it dining in groups, alone or couple, this Bistro Bar is all ready. There is even a enormous long island marble table in the middle cater for big groups.

Long black was served in a red cup with oblong-shaped almond biscuits (Biscotti). It was hard, dry and crunchy - the characteristics of what it should be. It has a little bit of Cinnamon fragrance which made a harmony of the long black and itself.

Though I have longed to come this place, there is nothing to rave about. Perhaps the lively ambiance over a lovely weekends like this is something I look forward to - young family gathers on table for breakfast, or even a few good friends to chit chat.

Nassim Hill Bakery is located at Tanglin Post Office, a rather iconic building at the edge of Orchard Road. With a comprehensive drinks list and beer and apple cider on taps, Nassim Hill Bakery is more than just a bakery - it is an energetic chilling out haven with good music and array of European magazines amidst its dim, comfortable decor in the spacious bistro.
We started with one of their signature items - Guinness Stout Bread(SGD$8.00), malt-flavoured, infused beautifully with the bittersweetness of the dark beer we all know so well; this fluffy bread goes perfectly well with butter or marmalade.
Next, we had the Market Fresh Mussels with a hint of Chilli (SGD$25.00), 250grams of French Bouchot mussels are cooked with white wine, Sriracha butter cilantro and garlic and served with crispy baguette on the side. The tiny, sweet mussels were squishy with flavourful gravy, tinged with a little hint of chilli as promised; the gravy was so good, we were still taking turns to consume it long after the mussels were gone.
The Kale Caesar (SGD$17.00) in creamy anchovy dressing, sliced hard-boiled eggs, prosciutto chips, parmesan crumbs and sliced garlic croutons - was something new. It was the first time I ate kale - one of the much-loved superfoods in the western parts of the globe, a very healthy and nutrients-rich vegetable, and I can see why it is being loved. A Caesar without the usual refreshing leaves of lettuce, but replaced by crispy sprigs of kale that gave a good bite and gentle "green" favour; nothing too overpowering - a little like eating the top part of brocooli, only leafier. I loved the prosciutto chips too, so this great-tasting salad made it to my list of "must order" when I revisit.
Moving on, Chilli Crab Pasta (SGD$16.00 for half-sized / SGD$25.00 for full-sized) - jumbo lump crab meat sautéed with own spicy and tangy chilli crab sauce on spaghetti. The springy strands of pasta was good with bite, as is the robustness of the thick sauce - a local delight, infused with sweet crab meat and spiciness. The gravy was so good, I couldn't resist dipping baguette bread into it to soak up the goodness; however I also feel that the pasta can do with less sauce because it was a little "wet", like being drenched in soup.
I really dug this Triple X Chocolate Cake (SGD$9.00) - rich, lavish slice of moist chocolate cake infused beautifully with triple sec, giving it a bittersweet flavour amidst the aroma of chocolate, well executed with a solid base and gentle interior.
Then there was Pear Cheddar Crumble (SGD$11.00) stoking one's immediate passion for its baked pear, gelato scoop and crispy cheese biscuits on the side, satiating the palate in terms of texture and taste.

Ambience at Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar is styled to resemble a medieval European / German tavern, with colourful stained glass windows, globule lamps, large and sturdy oak wood dining tables, and a communal marble counter with beer taps at the end. While there are bright spotlights throughout the interior, these are often kept off, lit by natural lighting during the day, and low, warm ambient lighting at night, lending a feeling of serenity and intimacy, though it makes photography difficult. The buzzing, friendly atmosphere is welcoming, and the aromatic smell of baking perfumes the place. Great!

Service at Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar is decent / average. The relatively young staff are cheerful and friendly, offering greetings / goodbyes, and seating guests quickly. Product knowledge is lacking in the junior staff, they cannot describe dishes, nor make confident recommendations, although they are up-to-date on current promotions. Thumbs up for efficiency, they came around regularly to clear and change empty / dirty plates. Lacking in attention to details, as they did not top up our cutlery, I resorted to taking it from the empty table next to ours after every course.

Food at Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar is modern bistro quality, with primarily French and Italian influences. In particular, their bread and dessert pastries, which are freshly baked / prepared each day, is the speciality here. They also feature a rather extensive menu of appetizers and entrees, with hits and misses. Portions are large, and suitable for sharing. Prices are reflective of a high-end bistro / gastrobar, budget about SGD $50 per person for a proper meal here. If you're just getting cakes / bread / pastries, budget about SGD $8 per person.

The unique Cheddar Cheese Bacon Waffles (SGD $19) is worth ordering, because it combines bacon and waffles. BACON & WAFFLES! With cheddar cheese and bacon bits baked directly into their waffle batter, served with rashers of bacon, and a chive sour cream on the side. The waffle texture is the thin and crisp version, and my only minor complaint is that it's slightly dry, though this is helped by the fragrant chive sour cream. Worth ordering, because... bacon & waffles!

This is among the best Chili Crab Pasta (SGD $25) I've had in Singapore thus far. The spaghetti is done al-dente, with some bite, the chili crab gravy is thick, with alternating notes of sweet, savoury, tangy, and spicy, and there is some lingering heat. The generous portion of fresh, deshelled crab meat, and spicy chili padi complete this dish. Highly recommended!

There is the option of "free" parking (< 10 lots) right in front of the eatery but it's park at your own risk (so scramble if you see a warden) or the tiny carpark at the basement of the building (~10 lots) that leaves you stranded on a steep slope should the barrier refuse to lift when the carpark is full. So take public transport if you can, or park somewhere else.

Once you sort out the transportation issues, getting a seat is relatively easy as there are plenty of tables around. The vibe is rather cafe-ish and the abundance of natural light streaming through the full length windows lent the place a certain cheerfulness.

Chilli Crab Pasta - The chilli crab pasta came in 2 portion sizes; half or full. We opted for the former as the plan was to have waffles (lots of carbohydrates!) as well. And I'm glad we did as the half portion was big enough to feed an average eater. Al dente spaghetti coupled with a relatively rich yet mildly sweet and spicy sauce that featured chunks of crab meat and garlic for that additional kick. Very decent in my humble opinion.

Nassim Hill Double Decker Burger - Nassim Hill's namesake burger wasn't impressive to say the least. Although it featured a double patty, both patties lacked a firm texture, a discernible beefy taste and relied on the seasoning and herbs to give it flavour (onion rings added a mild sweetness as well). The bread, all soft and slathered in mayonnaise, could do with time on the griddle whilst the accompanying shoestring fries were a tad hard but pretty decent. Average at best.

Banana Chocolate Waffles - This was meant to be dessert but somehow got served together with our burger and pasta with no offer to take it back and re-serve it later. A bit of a boo boo I must say but seeing that most of the wait staff seemed to be rather green (mostly students I assume), I guess I don't really blame them. But it did prove to be rather annoying as the ice cream was melting rapidly and we had to alternate between mouthfuls of sweet cold dessert and warm burger/pasta at an accelerated pace (we certainly didn't want the waffles swimming in an ice cream puddle).

Grievances aside, I personally liked the waffles quite a fair bit. Lightly crisp along the edges with a rather chewy center and topped with banana slices, sweet chocolate sauce and a huge scoop of real vanilla bean ice cream (as evidenced by the black spots). It's rather pricey at $18+ though, especially with only four small waffle rectangles to show for it.

A somewhat decent brunch for the both of us cost almost $59, which is still somewhat acceptable considering the overall quality of food and location of the eatery. Service needs a little polishing and I'll probably drop by again if I'm in the vicinity to try out some other items on the menu.

wife, son & i went to have a drink & some makan at nassim hill bakery on 1.1.2015.

earlier we had a homecooked 20pax family new year day lunch. i was full & we had some leftover food. wife ordered crab spaghetti arrabiata (spicy tomatoes) & bruschetta & a drink. i did not take any.

iced water was free so we had 3 water.

spicy crab spaghetti was very good, same as what we had last time on 5.10.2014 but w/o the 1 for 1 discounts. there were lots of crab meat & a good arrabiata (spicy tomatoes) sauce.

wife liked the bruschetta with melted cheese, cherry tomatoes, parsley (or basil) & good bread. we can make this at home.

this a good place to chill, not cramped & crowded like assembly coffee, and parking was free. we had nice, relax chat & good time together.

Artisan Bread Basket with marmalade, jam and butter.

The breads here are provided by head baker Audrey Tan from Freshly Baked at Killiney Road (which I have yet to but will visit one day). You can never go wrong with the simple bread and butter, but the marmalade and jam here provides an alternative if you want a different taste. Me being the carbs-lover me, I tried the bread with a bit of each. The rustic quality of the breads also appealed to me. For those with a smaller appetite though, it is best to share with a friend so that you have space for the entrees and dessert.

The restaurant's Hot Reuben is one of the highly-recommended items on the menu from my research. For the uninitiated, Hot Reuben is apparently a sandwich consisting of the 'standard' make-up of corned beef, swiss cheese, Russian dressing and sauerkraut (fermented cabbage). The saltiness of the corned beef coupled with the melted cheese makes it a very savory dish and very filling as the portion size was big. The bread used here is the Asahi Kuronama beer bread.

Hot Reuben - $18

My friend ordered their Spicy Huevos Benedict. What differentiated this from your usual Eggs Benedict is the inclusion of spanish jalapenos peppers and Spanish chorizo (pork sausage smoked with red peppers), which added a zing of spicy to the dish. The eggs were poached rightly, with the yolks flowing out smoothly when cut. The flavor of the chorizo added a different dimension to the dish, though I must say the taste of the chorizo may need to be acquired for some people who haven't tried it before. The texture of the chorizo came across as rubbery and took us a little more effort chewing.

Our choices for dessert were the Pear Cheddar Crumble and Brownie Parfait. The Pear Cheddar crumble is a good blend of sweet (pear) and salty (cheddar crumble) that was made all the better by the warmth of the crumble contrasted with the cold of the ice-cream.The dessert could do with a little less pear though. This is my preferred out of the 2 desserts.

The Brownie Parfait came with a salted caramel sauce, caramelised cornflakes and peanuts. A choice that would go with chocolate and salted caramel lovers.

I had a wonderful dinner with my wife at nassim hill bakery last evening on 5.10.2014.
last came here for an ok not-too-bad average family afternoon tea on 6.4.2014.
they have an ongoing 1 for 1 promotion for DBS cards from 6pm onwards, until end nov2014.
we ordered a D-I-Y steak sandwich (menu price S$22) and a crab spaghetti arrabiata (spicy tomatoes) main course portion (menu price S$24). also added a white for S$10 happy hour price (till 8pm).
the D-I-Y steak sandwich – S$22 was fabulous, much better quality than we expected from a cafe, very much good restaurant standard & quite worthy of S$22 full price.
it was sweet, tender, nicely medium rare. the toasted baguette was great & the english & french mustards dip made the whole experience even better. it was truly a D-I-Y steak sandwich! kudos to the chef!
the crab spaghetti arrabiata (spicy tomatoes) was very good too. a good portion, quite spicy which i loved & loads of crab meat. good canned crab meat is very expensive & fresh ones too. so the dish was fairly priced at S$24 even at full price. for me of course a good steak sandwich always prime a good pasta.
with the 1 for 1 discounts, the 2 items were just S$24++ excluding the S$10++ white. incredible deal really!
service was kind of below par – polite & not unfriendly, but kind of inattentive & untrained. small disadvantage c/w with the food deal.

Turned out that the sandwich was massive (for me at least) and my friend actually betted that I couldn't finish it by myself. So to prove him wrong (I'm a fighter), I ate slowly to savour and also to not overkill myself in the start of the meal. The sandwich was rich in flavour and I can't break it down to the individual tastes but it all came together very nicely.
I opted for the set and they had cauliflower soup then. It was smooth and good and flavourful! Nice!
The ambience was very chillaxing and a beautiful way to start the morning. The interior is clean and bright, plus it sure doesn't hurt to have the whole place smell of fresh bread to hit you (nicely) in the face as you walk in.
Will bring hubby here to share the beautiful experience.

daughter wanted to try nassim hill bakery for afternoon tea. we bought stamps at the tanglin post office next door a month back but did not try out this place.
all day breakfast, egg bens, burgers & sandwiches & hip cafes do not hold any particular attraction for me though i do agree that some are pretty ok & a good departure from the usual stuff i take, and i am quite able to enjoy them if good even if not my preferred. :-)
the hot reuben was a favourite here. though for me it was more like what else was there to order here? i could just see perhaps a grilled chicken salad or grilled chicken sandwich…pizzas not our favourite, & pasta sorry to think this way but i probably do them better myself. in any case probably wouldn’t order these items in a cafe unless some close friends really vouched for them.
turned out that the hot reuben sandwich was really quite good
, and quite a good helping for S$18. corn beef (which i always associate with luncheon meat, a favourite to steam on top of the cooked rice in a rice cooker when i was studying abroad 30++years ago) was good & the sauerkraut was not sour & went well with the meat & bread. not something i could finish by myself. we shared among 4pax.

good thing here was that when you ordered a main, you could order a soup (usual S$6), coffee/tea (usual S$5/S$6) or soft drink (we were not interested) for S$3. so we added a flat white, a mint tea & a soup (carrot soup, above photo) for S$3 for each item.
the ambience was great! parking was limited but we were able to park right outside the cafe on a sunday afternoon.

we added an apple crumble (carrot cake was a favourite here but we look at the cake tray & it did not excite us). this was good – crumb was good, apple was not too sweet, the cake layer was a bit large. reminded me of my jam crumb cake, a recipe i picked up recently rather successfully. :-)
service was a bit sloppy – forgot our soup order completely, and after waited long after we finished the hot reuben & coffee, took another inordinately long time to make right & service recovery, and did not make effort to offer a smile or friendly apology though overall the staff were quite polite but NOT attentive! after soup was finally served, took another long time to serve the apple crumble saying they thought we had canceled the cake (why make such assumptions on behalf of customer? if not, why use it as an excuse? better to just say sorry & make good). i guess it was quite ok, average, could be worse in some places.
the orders for 4pax was S$38nett so it was pretty ok though we ordered not so many items.
maybe once in a while, i might do this with some one who like the ambience & share the pretty ok food.

With the bakery section helmed by Head Baker Audrey Tan of Freshly Baked by Le Bijoux, you know that you are definitely in for a treat where the breads and baked goods are concerned. Order an Artisan Bread Basket from the menu for $5 and you can thank me later.

Alternatively, go for any of their breakfast sets and it comes with a basket of breads as well. Our server voluntarily offered to change our Grimbergen Ambrée beer bread to a variety of breads instead so we could have a sample of everything.

The Almond Brioche, White Ciabatta, Cranberry Bread and Raisin Bread were 4 of which we tried and they were good. Simply good. Top marks to the Almond Brioche which was light, fluffy and sweet, almost like eating a sponge cake. Spread a little strawberry or orange peel jam which they provide in round glass jars, it feels almost like home as you dip a serving spoon in and load a wobbleful onto your bread and eat it with your hands. Contentment!

And ladies and gentlemen, I will now introduce to you The BEST Eggs Benedict in Singapore $18, agreed among the consensus of 4 Eggs Ben fanatics at the table. And we think that it might even beat those at Choupinette hands down. Beautifully poached eggs on white fluffy ciabatta with thick and creamy hollandaise sauce and thinly cured ham in between. This was truly a perfect Eggs Ben. All you Eggs Ben fans out there, you would not want to miss this.

Could not resist taking an egg yolk flow shot. Do not worry about the tiny size of the muffins, this dish fills you up quite easily once you have polished it off. And trust me, you will be very satisfied.

The Cajun Grilled Chicken in White Ciabatta $15 on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. Though the cibatta was crisp on the outside, soft, porous and light in the middle, there was much too little chicken meat in the sandwich for a full enjoyment of the sandwich.

But apart from that chicken sandwich, Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar is definitely a place worth checking out this weekend. It is actually not that far off the main road and just next door to the Tanglin Post Office so if you are taking public transport, it is just a little walk for great food.

I will be back in the evenings to check out their dinner menu.

Nassim Hill Bakery, Bistro and Bar has been opened for a few months already, so it's not exactly new. But it still seems a little foreign to my friends and foodie lovers on instagram. I guess that's because many would think that Nassim Hill Bakery would be very expensive as it's situated at Nassim Hill (duh..), which is a high end private residential estate in town. But I thought that the prices were pretty affordable!

The bakery seems to be very popular amongst the expatriates. But the place was really spacious and huge, so I didn't have any problem finding a seat.

The Eggs Benedict ($18) had some hits and misses. I really liked the white ciabatta that was used instead of the usual muffins. The bread was crispy on the outside, yet soft inside. The eggs were kinda small and the hollandaise sauce didn't match well with the eggs. Like the egg just tasted like plain poached eggs, without any sauce.

The eggs ben came with a complimentary bread basket which includes 4 kinds of artisan bread, butter and jam. I thought that the bread were really good, though I didn't quite enjoy some of them as there were nuts in it.

Overall, I think their selection of bread was really good. The rest are just passable. But I personally liked the environment there. Really spacious and it's perfect for those who would like some private space while dining alone. Prices are inclusive of GST and there's no service charge. For a place like this situated at Nassim Hill, I think the prices are pretty reasonable.
