Unique ice-cream flavours

This shop was highly recommended by my friend, he told me that the flavours of the ice cream is unique, that's why decided to give it a try today.Nice ambience, the ice cream waffle is very delicious. Have ordered The red velvet and charcoal waffle, recommended by the service personnel. Red velvet waffles is nice, both taste superb. Will definitely visit again!

Cookie and Cream ice cream

I’ve become a huge fan of Oblong Ice Cream shop located at the basement of Balmoral Plaza ever since I tasted their Cookie and Cream ice cream. Oblong’s Cookie and cream ice cream is a right mix of ice cream and milkshake made out of chocolate cookies flavoring. The soft cookies went perfectly well with the ice cream. Every bit of it is rich, creamy and tasty. I just love the fact that it melts on your mouth. It is priced at $3.00 per scoop, is quite reasonably priced as well.

Nestled quietly at the basement of Balmoral Plaza, Oblong Ice Cream is easy to be missed, but venture inside this humble mall and step into this cosy haven - a place ideal for studying or just chilling out with mates. They also provide a small comic/magazine stand for reading pleasure and also delectable selections of chic music playing softly in the background.

Oblong's uniquely named ice cream (Tarik the Teh is an interesting one) is rich in flavour and has a thick creamy texture. Some of my favourites include Milo, Rum & Raisin and their best-seller - Lychee Martini.

It goes for S$3.00 per scoop with additional 60 cents if you ordered the star flavours.

 We also had the Plain Waffle w/ 2 scoops (S$9.00). Rum & Raisin and Chocolate are our choices and boy, they surely do go well with the piping hot waffle. Just a heads up - to ensure only the freshest is served, they make the batter upon ordering. However, the batter was a tad over-mixed and has an overwhelming eggy taste. And.. I would prefer my waffles to be crispier and drizzled with hot fudge though.

 Take a break and slow down the pace of your life. Grab some ice-cream and your favourite comic book. Relax. Oblong Ice Cream is such place to head for.

I love ice cream!

I love ice cream. We heard about this place, so my wife and I went down to check it out. We had a VERY nice time trying each of the many flavours!In the end, we settled for the Rum and Raisins and the good ole Ore's Chocolate Chip. But instead of eating there, we bought an entire tub each! My wife's Rum and Raisin did not survive the night. Somehow, when I woke up the next morning, it was GONE.My Chocolate Chip survived at least 2 TV sessions. I, unlike some others, have self control. I found th

I love ice cream. We heard about this place, so my wife and I went down to check it out. We had a VERY nice time trying each of the many flavours!

In the end, we settled for the Rum and Raisins and the good ole Ore's Chocolate Chip. But instead of eating there, we bought an entire tub each!


My wife's Rum and Raisin did not survive the night. Somehow, when I woke up the next morning, it was GONE.

My Chocolate Chip survived at least 2 TV sessions. I, unlike some others, have self control.

I found the Chocolate Chip a little bland because I personally prefer it to be sweeter. But the overall taste was good. The Rum and Raisin, on the other hand, was really fabulous. I only managed to get two TINY spoons.

We have been topping up on the various flavours, but Rum and Raisin has become a stable food group for us.

Blong Ice Cream Etc.

After having lunch with colleagues, our boss treated us all for dessert! (YAY!) Blong Ice Cream is located at the basement of Balmoral Plaza. It's one of those places which you won't get to notice at first but I loved the artsy fartsy look and ambiance of the place. The place is not really that big but what caught my attention was their walls which are filled with polaroid pictures of their satisfied and happy customers. Blong offers a wide variety of flavors and all of them looked really good!

Blong offers a wide variety of flavors and all of them looked really good! So for a first timer like us, it will really give you a hard time to choose what flavor to pick. Since pistachio nuts are one of my favorite snacks to munch on, I ended up picking the Salted Caramel with Pistachio flavor. I like the sweet and salty taste of the ice cream and how the sweetness of caramel was perfect in every bite of pistachio nuts.


There was nothing really special about their ice cream, but still it wasn't a very bad experience after all!

When I first went to Oblong, I had the Cookies & Cream and Bananas about Hazel. Subsequently, each time I make my way there to get my ice cream fix, I would order different flavours. The following flavours are my current favourites:

1. Milo Dino
This flavour is really good because it tastes exactly like milo! (If not better) I love its richness and 1 scoop is never enough for me. Everyone should take a break from traditional flavours such as Spooky Dark Chocolate or Vanilla Ice once in a while and try the local ones! Their other local flavours include Ho Ho Horlicks, Tarik the Teh and Durian Durian.

2. Madame Mint
People would usually miss this flavour as it's one of the few that isn't on display. With the right amount of creaminess and chocolate chips inside, mint lovers are sure to enjoy it. I have also tried the Madame Mint milkshake and I can assure you, that would never go wrong.

3. White Coffee with Almonds
Honestly, I'm not a fan of coffee and nuts but this flavour is really addictive. The coffee and the almonds really complement each other and....... Enough said.

Never knew there's such a place call Balmoral Plaza. Im a east sider so can't blame me eh! My colleague recommended us this charming ice cream cafe located at the basement of the mall. I love their quirky interior. It's all bricks and you can see their walls filled with Polaroids photos of their customers. It show how much the shop values their fans. My colleague recommended us this charming ice cream cafe located at the basement of the mall. I love their quirky interior. It's all bricks and you can see their walls filled with Polaroids photos of their customers. It show how much the shop values their fans.

Their ice cream flavors varies from Brownies in Vanilla to White Coffee with Almonds to Stout Chocolate and there's even such flavor called Tarik the Teh!! Sounds exotic dont you think? But I played it safe. I choose the Spooky Dark Chocolate!

The dark color and rich smell give little indication of the ride I'm about to take. The dark velvety texture and its rich dark flavour just won my heart. On a hot sunny day, this is all I need!

Oh for those living around this area... Oblong serves ice cream all day long! Yes you saw it right!
ALL DAY LONG!!!

1st impression of the shop, you will definitely be drawn to the multiple polaroid photos pinned on the wall, a sign that the owner values customers. Too bad its not offered as a regular service ;p. I had one scoop of the tarik the teh flavor which cost $3. its pretty refreshing to have such an unusual ice cream flavor yet common drink at coffeeshop. It wasn't overly sweet and definitely satisfy your ice cream fix, especially after lunch or dinner. There were also a couple of interesting flavors

 Service was great and we were given free samples and recommendations before I finally opted for my Durian Durian ice cream. It could have been smoother and creamier, but the taste of durian is just as aromatic as you would get at more common places like Udders.

For just $3 a cup, Oblong offers great value for money for the ice cream enthusiast. Given that it's so very close by, I definitely see a return trip sometime soon.
