Tonight I am attending the PAYM Youth Awards Dinner which is held at the grand ballroom in Orchid Country Club. The event is attended by members of over 100 youth clubs in Singapore. Just for my club alone, we have 2 tables full of people, spread over 3-4 tables. The Guest of Honour for the event is Deputy Prime Minister Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam.Chinese Cold Dish CombinationSalad Prawn, Deep Fried Scallop, Lobster Ball, Scrambled Eggs Shark's FinThe dinner finally starts at 8.30pm with this dish. Most of us are too hungry by then and we just attack the food.Braised Shark's Fin with CrabmeatCan barely see any shark's fin in the soup.Crispy Roast ChickenMost of us just attack the crispy and tasty prawn crackers first.Steamed Seabass "Teochew Style"Nice of the staff to cut the fish up and serves individually on plates.Stuffed Yam Ring with Shrimps and Cashew NutsThe staff cuts up the yam ring so that we can pick up the pieces easily. Thoughtful. Like that the yam ring is crispy outside and soft inside.Braised Black Mushroom with SpinachBraised Ee Fu Noodle with Yellow ChivesIt is quite a well braised dish, while looking simple.Mango PuddingIt is more like yellow coloured jelly topped with sweeten canned fruit cocktail. Barely any mango flavour in the pudding.Overall the food is ok. Service is not bad, with drinks refilled and cutlery changes regularly.…查看更多

Located just above the carpark in the country club, one can easily reach the place by taking the free shuttle bus from Yishun MRT station provided by the country club. The restaurant is not crowded on a Sunday but mostly filled with small family groups having dim sum brunch. Upon seeing our group with a baby, we are advised on a baby chair for the baby and plastic bowl, spoon and cup of water is provided for the baby. While deciding on what to order, I feel the staff tends to push for the more expensive dim sum. Steamed Siew Mai with Fish Roe ($4.50++)It tasted of fresh and crunchy prawns. Simple and delicious.Steamed Xiao Long Bao with Crab Roe ($4.80++)I am surprised that each Xiao long bao is placed on each spoon, and the skin of the Xiao long bao looks so yellow. It tastes not much of soup inside.Steamed Rice Roll with Char Siew ($4.50++)It tastes not bad but the rice roll is not smooth enough.Century Egg and Pork Porridge ($4.00++)This is little JJ's favourite as the top is filled lots of crispy you tiao. The porridge is very smooth in texture.Steamed Creamy Custard Bun ($4.20++)With a bite, I am quite disappointed as there is no lava flowing of filling. The skin of bao is not think enough too.Deep-fried Bean Skin Roll with Prawn and Seaweed ($5.20++)I have ordered Deep-fried Stuffed Dumpling with Prawn and Goose Liver($4.80++) but is served this dish which is one of the dishes which the staff pushes for. Feel nothing much special except for the fresh crunchy prawns. It is served with vinegar dip.Fried Carrot Cake with X.O. Chilli Sauce ($10++)Comes with lots of bean sprouts. Feel that the dish is too mushy and lack of the wok hei.For dessert, we sharedChilled Avocado Cream with Ice-cream ($9.80++)which tastes quite creamy and not too sweet. Warm Yam Paste with Gingkoo Nut ($8.80++)which tastes quite smooth and not too sweet. Interestingly both are served in coconuts, which still have meaty flesh in them.Overall the meal is great but I would prefer the staff not to be too pushy in promoting their products. For an 8-course meal for a minimum of 2 person, Peach Garden usually caters to wedding guests or large groups of people. It costs $78++ on new year, and only $48 at other timings.The platter comes in a huge portion.. and all the food was tantalising and delicious! We ordered dim sum this time round for our team outing. The quality of the dim sum is really splendid comparable with those in Hong Kong. Prices are more expensive of course. However, it is totally worth it. It cost us about $30 per pax for a varieties of dim sum. My personal favourite is the carrot cake and the chee cheong fun. The carrot cake is not oily and is crispy on the outside. The chee cheong fun is smooth and stuffed with lots of ingredient. It is really money well spent.…查看更多

Food at Peach Garden always taste so good! Wide range of Chinese dishes and desserts to choose from and definitely will satisfy for your craving on Chinese food. We had our Chinese New Year dinner gathering at Peach Garden, it was with my colleagues. We had an 8 course dinner and the dishes included tasted wonderful. We had Yu Sheng, spring chicken, prawns, fish and some others. The best was the dessert, jelly and red bean paste. Overall the entire meal was great and satisfying. The price on average was around $60 per person and I think the price seems quite reasonable. The ambience was good and service provided by the staff was great too. …查看更多
