If the stomach's feeling a tad spacious, the Banh Mi combi can be your choice of meal. Though you can't find that local authentic Banh Mi flavours, the combination of pork belly, grilled beef and chicken ham is just as good.

Pho Street is a quick service restaurant with a vibrant dining ambience yet compressed seating arrangement, serving traditional Vietnamese food. Recently, they came up with Vietnamese Caramelised Braised Pork Belly with Rice and Egg Vermicelli - a slow-braised pork belly in sweet coconut juice to reveal the enchanting caramelised flavours, together with a hint of sweetness and spiciness from the chillies and black peppers. The pork belly is so soft and tender that the fats simply melts in one’s mouth.

I would say never judge a book by its cover with Banh Mi. Usually consist of a crusty bread stuffed with meat, followed by mayonnaise, pickled carrot & radish, cucumber, chilli and cilantro. Lastly, quench your thirst or spiciness with the refreshing fizzy Lemon Cooler with Peppermint and Basil. My favourite from the list, although I like lemongrass but I don't think Pho Street's pleases my palette.

Do not miss out on the array of Vietnamese street snacks offered such as Sesame Rice Crackers with Fragrant Minced Meat and Spices Dip, it absolutely taste better than it looks. The combination are heavenly, I wouldn’t mind paring it with a bowl of white rice even.

Knowing that Vietnamese cuisine has increased momentum in Singapore especially to youngsters and family, Pho Street decided to open its 2 outlets at Westgate and Bedok Mall with an emphasis on the healthy, yet tasty nature of Vietnamese cuisine to attract the crowd. On their extensive menu, you can get to see their signature Pho (Vietnamese noodles), Bun (Rice Vermicelli), Com (Fragrant rice) and Banh mi. In addition, they also offer wide variety of Vietnamese street snacks such as famous summer roll and fresh pork spring roll.

Let's not wait furthermore, scroll down and check out the delicious food that I tried.

Lemon Cooler with Peppermint & Basil ($3.50) (Left side) and Passionfruit & Basil Mojito ($3.50) (Right side) was refreshing. If I were to pick my favourite out of these two, I will choose Lemon Cooler with Peppermint & Basil as I like the combination better and is less sweet.

Fresh Summer Roll (2pcs) - $4.90

The ingredients include vegetables, fresh herbs, prawns, pork belly, rice vermicelli wrapped in rice paper accompanied with their specially created peanut sauce by the Pho Street chef. The fresh vegetables are crunchy and is a total perfect when you dipped it into their sauce. Overall, this food is refreshing and appitizing.

Crispy Fried Chicken Mid-Wings served with Caramelised Sweet Dip (3pcs) - $4.90

In Vietnam, the chicken wings are usually tossed with the sauce before they are served. However, in order to satisfy the majority of the Singaporean tastebud, the caramelised sauce is served as a dipping sauce instead. Anyway this crispy fried chicken was yummy- crisps on the outside and tender inside. They will also fried the chicken only when the order was made to ensure the food is warm when served on the table.

The fragrant rice together with the sauce and garlic is superb! However, as for the pork chop, I felt that it's a little tough for me.

Overall, it tasted fine.

My dining partner ordered the Pho Beef Combination ($9.90), which allows one to have both beef balls and beef slices in a single bowl of Pho. The noodles were silken smooth as it slides effortlessly down the throat, and the broth carried a light flavour of beefiness. We loved how the beef balls were bouncy and the beef slices were tender, all without tasting to gamey. My dining partner was not a fan of the broth and noodles though; he found it bland and rather tasteless.

Being the usual “rice bucket” I am, the Roast Pork with Fragrant Rice ($7.90) was the choice I made for dinner. The pork was sliced like Char Siew without retaining the skin. While it was missing on crispiness, it does carry the taste of sio bak but in a more subtle way without the smokiness. The fragrant rice was not particularly fragrant as it was just usual white rice, though it worked well with the preserved vegetables served as a side for a hint of sweet and sour.

Homemade Chrysanthemum with Corn ($3.00) did not really contain much chrysanthemum, but felt more like a concoction of diluted corn syrup.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($3.00) was equally disappointing, which was really diluted and bland.

I went to Pho Street at the newly opened shopping mall, Westgate. Pho Street is now having promotion. A free drink with every Pho purchased. The promotion supposed to end on 15.12.2013 but have extended to an unknown date. For this small restaurant, you have to queue to order and pay first and collect the number back to your table. Cutlery and sauces are also self serviced. So why the service charge? The free drink which I ordered was Lemonglass Tea. Very strong Lemonglass flavour. Quite satisfa

For Appetizer, I have ordered summer roll. The sauce is watery and bland. But the worst thing was the Rice Vermicelli (Mee hoon) in the summer roll was so uncooked that some even were crispy.

I have ordered their Beef Combination Pho, which includes, Beef slices, Beef steak and beef balls.
And remember you have to ask for the so called sides (Bean sprout, lime and basil leave) or they will somehow forget to serve you.

The broth slightly salty not much of the "beef" taste. The beef slices were tough to bit.

The restaurant seatings were quite limited. So be early to avoid huge lunch or dinner crowds.

The Pho Beef Combination meal comes with beef balls, sliced beef and tenderloin. Such combination is the best choice as every type of what they offered was included. The broth was quite tasty, however i find that the noodles were different from what i had eaten from other vietnamese cuisine.

Summer spring rolls were also one of the authentic vietnamese cuisine dishes and not to be missed as a starter. Hand-rolled with shrimp, vermicelli and vegetables complemented with their signature peanut sauce.

This was the amount spend for 2 pax over dinner. Having tried a number of Pho, I find that their standard and quality is not the best thus far. The chilli they provide were those red cut chilli. Normally, the bowls of Pho comes with separated dish for the beansprouts and herbs and it wasnt included in our meal as they dont look really fresh. The beansprouts were oxidised(turned brownish in color) and wasn't appetizing. Perhaps crews were still new and service was not desirable. But still, I had a satisfiable dinner.
