We were in the area and decided to drop by for lunch as I remembered that I could enjoy 50% discount with AMEX credit card when dining for 2 persons. The staff took down my name before showing us to a table. After placing our orders, we were served bread with cream cheese in a wooden box and iced water. One could also enjoy the bread with vinegar or olive oil which was available in a bottle on the table.Prego Pizza ($38++)Mozzarella, Ham, Mushroom, Parmesan, Sundried Tomato, Fresh CreamThe pizza crust was thin and crispy, and cut easily. Although it looked thin, the filling was just nice.Agnolotti di Vitello al Sugo d' Arrosto ($36++)Confit Veal Ravioli, Veal Glace, Whipped Truffle CreamThe dish smelt quite nice of truffle. The ravioli was a tab hard. The filling was meaty and went quite well with the sauce. The place was packed during lunch. We did not wait long for the food to be served, although I wish that the water was refilled more often. 繼續閱讀

Last night was my fifth visit, with yet another different group of girlfriends.. for a sumptuous dinner. Prego's Italian Restaurant is located at 2 Stamford Road, Level One Fairmont Singapore, Swissotel the Stamford, Singapore 189560 and the number for reservations is 6431 6156.The service is still good and friendly, and the ambience is still laid-back and non-pretentious for a good-class Italian restaurant serving decent Italian fare. Hearty diners crowd the cosy, brightly-lit classic family-style trattoria. The three of us shared three mains - the first being the Tagliolini Al Nero - squid ink tagliolini, roasted tiger prawns, garlic and chilli in tomato sauce. The tagliolini was very springy in texture, and the sapid flavor of sour-sweet tomato was prominent. There were at least five very succulent and fresh tiger prawns, shelled and sweet for us to savor. This was truly a keeper.Next, we had the Penne Tartufate - wild mushrooms and truffle cream sauce. Do not be fooled by the seemingly plain-looking pasta dish - the cream sauce was very delicious and rich, and of course the salient flavor of mushrooms was duly noted. The penne was cooked to a perfect texture that was neither too hard nor soft, as well. For more detailed information and photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/04/dinner-at-pregos-fairmont-hotel.html 繼續閱讀

Decided to give Prego another chance after a less than desirable lunch a couple of months back. It also helped that there was a 50% reduction in the bill courtesy of the FAR card. The interior hasn't changed much, with the decor revolving around the use of wood. Whilst I like the abundant sunlight peering in from the floor to ceiling windows and the space the place affords, I can't help but compare it to a buffet/mass market restaurant - hardly befitting an Italian outfit in my humble opinion. But I digress.Complimentary Bread -This was probably one of the worst complimentary bread I've ever had in an Italian restaurant. 4 trips to Prego in 6 months and I'm still unable to consume more than a mouthful. Capesante in Crosta - This sounded really good on paper - Scallops coated with cheese and baked till golden brown and served with a mildly sweet pumpkin puree. Unfortunately the combination didn't quite work out. The scallops were smallish and the fishiness didn't quite jell with the cheesiness of the Parmesan nor the sweetness from the pumpkin. Nauseating to say the least, especially if you consume more than 1 piece. Well, at least the earthy taste from the truffle oil was noticeable.Strozzapreti - The Strozzapreti was akin to a rounder version of the Chinese board noodles (板面); all clumped together with a rather soft texture. Served in a very rich tomato sauce with mushrooms and minced Italian pork sausages. Palatable but probably not something I would order again. Risotto Frutti Di Mare - The hands down, best dish of the afternoon - the seafood risotto. Al dente with a nice creamy consistency. Only issue I had was with the seafood, which was quite generous but lacked taste (probably frozen). Prawns were crunchy though. After a 50% discount, lunch for the both of us came up to about $58, which isn't exactly value for money, considering how pedestrian the food was. Food quality seems to have dipped over the years and unless it picks up, this will be my 10th (though I only blogged about 5) and last visit. Impromptu lunch with my friend and we headed to Prego for it since both of us craving Italian food! We ordered 3 main dishes to ease our craving. We were shown to our seats immediately and was served Foccacia bread and bread stick with cream cheese while we waiting for our food. We ordered Strozzapreti ($34) it is mixed mushroom, Italian Pork Sausage and spiced tomato sauce. The spicy sauce is not spicy but it is more of tangy and sour taste. Sausage is in form of small bites pieces and the pasta itself is chewy. Overall very refreshing and appetizing dish! Next we have Risotto Frutti di Mare ($36) it is a mixture of sauteed seafood. Strong seafood smell with fresh seafood being served in creamy sauce. For people whom like cream base will be perfect as it is a love it or hate it dish to be consume while is hot! Lastly we have Anatra ($38) it is roasted duck with, Cilantro. duck gravy, red onion and ricotta cheese combination pizza. Generous duck meat is found and it tasted just like peking duck and it is unique in a way which is different from the usual pizza that we always had like tomato sauce on it as the gravy is replace instead and the gravy is sweet! Awesome! 繼續閱讀

The service is impolite. The door host is suspected to be a non local (from accent) and does not look at you in the eye when she bothered replying you, at all. that is unacceptable in the service industry IMO. Now for this dish. I should have loved it for it was filled with mushrooms. But I cannot and do not. What was interesting though, was that the pasta used here would be easily mistaken to be the familiar japanese udon via the naked eye. When you bite into it, you will find that this is less chewy and mildly sticky. The sauce is spicy tomato but I tasted only tomato and no spiciness. 繼續閱讀
