The popular dish of thin rice vermicelli in spicy, sweet and tangy flavour.
Bought a bowl of Mee Siam from Punggol Nasi Padang at Century Square. The gravy for the Mee Siam was unabashedly bold with a good combination of dried shrimps, taucheo and tamarind juice. There were a generous amount of diced taupok with bean sprouts and a hard boiled egg.
The amount of bee hoon added to the Mee Siam was sufficient enough for a hearty lunch meal. The sambal paste rounded off the dish giving a robust taste to the dish.
Mee Siam literally means Thai noodles in the Malay language.
The sweetness and sourish gravy of the Mee Siam is reminiscent of the flavours of Thailand.
The thinly sliced Chinese chives added flavour to the dish.
