The ramen here is really quite famous and good you will want to come back again! The soup is authentic and tasty that you will want to drink it until the last drip! Noodles are quite chewy as well and the big seaweed suits the ramen well when you dip it in the soup before eating. Service is still ok since the staff are busy attending to many customers in the shop as well.

Everytime i pass by the area, there is always a long queue. On vesak day, I finally decided to join the queue and ordered a bowl of their ramen to try. I went for the basic one because I am not a fan for spicy red or black soup base. To my disappointment, the soup taste pretty bland. The char siew had no wow factor. The only attraction they have is probably free flow of hard boiled egg and bean sprouts. But seriously, how many eggs can one eat?

Free flow hard boiled eggs and bean sprout! I love the bean sprout, it is so well seasoned that i think i can finish the whole container of it. This ramen place allow u to choose how u would like the noodles, and the amount of oil, which is a point that i like about the shop. I love noodles that are hard to start with, cause i am a slow eater. Those soft noodles usually turn soggy fast, and its not suitable for people like me. I chose the black soup, so flavorful! I chose the black soup, so flavorful! The egg yolk is runny, so yummy!

The bad part is that, the small is extremely small, and a long wait might result.

Black fungus and egg are included in the bowl of ramen. When the ramen was finally served, I was greeted with a typical ramen bowl, and a large piece of seaweed. On first sight, the ramen did not catch my attention. It was plain, all i could see was the flavoured egg, cha shu (single piece only!) and no other garnishing whatsoever.

Noodles, however, was a different story. One bowl was cooked well, and the noodles was soft but not mushy, with a tinge of springiness. The other bowl was unfortunately too hard, though we ordered both to be normal texture.

The next thing that defines all authentic Japanese pork bone based soup ramen, is the cha shu. It came out to be nothing fantastic. The meat did retain it's distinctive porky taste, but the lack of flavour did not help to enhance the ramen either. Also, the cha shu was too lean, without fat to give it a softer texture.
Love the egg, the egg yolk is soft and a little watery like most Japanese ramen egg.

Service
The man who had carried the hot bowl of ramen speaks very local singlish which makes me feel so at home even though it was a Japanese restaurant.
He will say “wait a little while, can?” when someone put on a request.
We make our order over a piece of paper during our queue. Food are served shortly after being seated.

Ambience
A very squeezy shop with about less than 30 seatings. I was offered a seating at one of the extreme corner where which I find that the shop has a very odd shape, there was something protruding out and I can only take half of the available space and had one of my legs raised on top of the curb. They leave little or no space in between the tables and I have to squeeze myself through the narrow aisles.

Price
Relatively average ramen pricing in the market.

Recommendations / Tips
Becareful not to knock over someone in the shop or things will topple. This is my first visit and I don’t see myself making a return visit in near future. With the pricing, one can easily have other options which serve ramen of better quality.

The FoodI ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen Special. The noodle is springy and I like the rich and creamy pork broth which is cooked with pork marrow bones and fat for hoursI was also surprised when I was served with free flow hard-boiled eggs and bean sprouts !! Then there's more.
Crisp crunch of
Nori seaweed.
Fish it out before it soaks through.
Salty.
And so addictive.
Even if it means getting some green on my teeth.
Or go simple.
Red spicy.
With charsiew and black fungus.
Those white cubes of fat?
They simply slide down your throat.
Smooth.
Throw caution to the wind.
And this was my attempt at responsiblity to check off the less oil option.

There are 3 main ramen. Normal, with Black Oil, with Red Oil.
I went for the one with Black Oil.

This egg is AMAZINGGGG just typing this makes me feel so hungry.
The exterior colour is quite light, but it is so well flavoured, even the yolk is tasty. Of course, the consistency is perfect.

Complimentary bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs (not the flavoured ones) are provided. And best of all, they are free flow! Great for people who love eggs (and want that extra protein) I enjoyed the simply-seasoned bean sprouts.
While the black oil does give the soup a different taste, I preferred the original one which my partner ordered. The black oil does not enhance the taste of the ramen as compared to Nantsuttei's . It could be that the oil is not roast garlic oil? I ended up scooping the oil out and I did not finish the soup (which I usually do when I like the ramen). Eventually I drank lots of the original soup.
The cha shu was slightly thicker than normal but not very well marinated.

I was there at the restaurant at 520pm and seeing it only opens at 6pm i decided to go walk around tras street area first. By the time i return at 550pm, there was already a queue formed. We were extremely lucky to be the last 2 to get an available seat (counter seat though). Ramen or

I was there at the restaurant at 520pm and seeing it only opens at 6pm i decided to go walk around tras street area first. By the time i return at 550pm, there was already a queue formed. We were extremely lucky to be the last 2 to get an available seat (counter seat though). Ramen orders are processed speedily. The shop is tended to by just 4 man, one the cashier/kitchen assistant, one chef (japanese, stall manager) and 2 servers. While in the queue outside the shop, you go ahead and fill up an order slip, most diners knew what to do already so i assume they are regulars). You get to choose noodle type, noodle texture, oil level and soup intensity. I chickened out and went for the non spicy version with normal noodle texture, normal oil level and normal soup base...playing it safe
. While waiting, you do the sesame seed grinding, help yourself to the marinated bean sprouts and also hard-boiled egg (white=normal, brown=low cholesterol). The ramen is served with a huge piece of seaweed, 2 slices of tonkotsu pork, green onions and small piece of black fungus. Additional condiments are also available like bonito flakes and chilli flakes. I also saw many ppl asking for what looks like spicy garlic which kinds of add flavor to the soup. i tried eating it with the tonkotsu pork but did not delight. Soup base is thick and tasty but not overkill. i would ask for less oil in future though. The tamago that came with it is amazing, one of the better ones i've tasted. Sat just in front of the small kitchen preparation area, i could see the chef preparing the soup bowls with different paste planted onto the bowl, maybe that's the secret to the delicious soup base but i sure hope that's not msg paste though. Overall a fantastic eat at $18 per bowl, been there, done that, eaten it and will be back here again

The red spicy ramen wasn't actually veryy spicy. It's manageable!
But if you are not into spiciness, opt for the Tonkotsu Ramen will do, but they do taste a little normal. So i suggest just going for something more special since you are here, isn't it?


On your table, you will find some sesame seasonings, spicy marinated bean sprouts and a bowl of hard boiled eggs. The hard boiled eggs and bean sprouts are free flow, yes you are not reading it wrongly, they are free flow. The sesame was provided with grinding equipment. I suppose they bring out stronger aroma after grinding and including into the broth. It tasted really good when you mix the sesame into your broth, and it really makes a difference to the broth. Considering this coming from a person who isn't a fan of sesame (that's me), trust me!

The eatery is really small and there are less than 10 tables inside. So please don't ever do in a group! Four is the maximum quantity you should have if you want to sit together at a same table. To think of it, the place is too small to even be suitable for you to hold a gathering dinner there.


There was a very long queue outside at about 6pm on a weekend, but if you don't mind queueing for about 15-20 mins for a great deal of ramen, go for it. It's worth your wait. You'll be given an order form to write down your order while you are queueing. When you step into the eatery, you pass the order form to the waiter and your ramen will be at your table within 5 mins. That is why although the queue is long, it's fast as well.

I love the ramen, it is by far the best that I've tried. Compared to places like Ajisen, this is so much more authentic and delicious. The broth was especially thick and tasty. I would love to go back again! I don't think they take reservations though, so go early and start queueing for the plausible best ramen you can have, at a very affordable price!

This restaurant got free eggs and bean sprouts on every table, you can eat as many as you can while waiting for food. there is also sesame. very special indeed. The ramen are very nice, large potion! one bad point is the eating area is quite small and can be quite crowded and cramped but its definitely worth the wait and money. the soup is very yummy!

The Flavoured Egg Served together with the Ramen is different from the basket of complimentary hard boiled eggs. The yolk is soft and golden orange in color. Very delicious! Now about the whole bowl of Ramen - 1st taste of the soup, one may find it a bit saltier than the usual Ramen eaten elsewhere. The soup must be simmered for many hours with rich stock as it is milky and rich in taste. Next, tried the pork and it was so well seasoned and tasted good without the pork strong flavour. The texture of the noodle was great!

Spam Omusubi - Saw this item displayed, looks delicious. It is stated that it is made from Japanese Rice.The Ramen shop with a big display of the shop's name "豚骨王”Walked by this shop many times but did not get to try it as it is always with a queue. Noticed the Basket Of Eggs placed on the tables..wondering why? Managed to eat at the shop one day and realized the eggs are complimentary for customers. While waiting to get into the shop, customers are given a piece of paper which is titled "Make your own RAMEN!!" Yes! We can do it..why?..Well, on the slip of paper, besides ticking the Ramen you want, customers can choose to have the Taste of the Soup to be Light/Normal/Strong. Noodle Texture Choice is Hard, Normal or Soft. Overall the whole bowl of Ramen and the ingredients are so delicious, that one tend to forget about the slighty saltier soup and enjoyed it instead.

Just as I got over my Ramen Craze, here I am again at another ramen restaurant. This restaurant has been touted as one of the best ramen restaurants to have arrived on the shore of Singapore. So despite convincing myself that ramen is just like any other noodles, paying $16 for a bowl of pork noodles is not worth it, here I am again. At the supposed one of the BEST!

This is my bowl of noodles, alright, I have to admit I dont really fancy this, maybe I am just not used to the black sesame taste. My friend was trying to convince me to order a more conventional bowl, but me, being too adventurous for my own good just had to order the black bowl of ramen.

This is the generous free flow egg, you can eat as much as you want. And the free flow bean sprout. What a generous restaurant! I applaud you!

Yup this is the more conventional bowl of noodles that my friend had. Certainly much better than mine. I will be back again.

This was my second visit to this ramen place for Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. Though there are free flow of boiled eggs but i still prefer to pay the additional $2 for the fragrant egg. I like the egg yolk soft and runny. This time i opted for a clearer taste to reduce the taste of the black pepper. It was rather overwhelmed the last time. The texture of the ramen was just right. I added in the spicy bean sprouts and chilli flakes to enhance the taste to the way i liked it. I will be back again.
