I always curious on the standard which this stall have for their signature laksa and decided to give it a try during one of my off day from work. To my surprise, it was not really to my liking at all. The portion is really small even though I have already paid a high price of four dollars for my bowl of laksa. The laksa gravy was not really that thick and I could not taste much of the coconut fragrant in it at all. The ingredients in it are also not that generous and in less than a minute I

Many tell me that I should always go to the East to have the best laksa. One of those stalls in the East is Roxy laksa at east coast. My friend who stays in the east claimed that this is one of the best and it is also suitable for me since I try to avoid eating"hum" and this stall does not add "hum" to their laksa. I ordered the $4 bowl which comes with prawns, fishcake slices, beansprouts as well as the laksa leaves which are very important, in my opinion, in lifting the taste of the laksa. The

The beehoon is cooked just right and the laksa gravy is very full flavoured with with the strong taste of coconut milk and the right amount of spicyness. The prawns are also fresh and tasty. I would recommend it to people who are nearby to try it.

It was a rainy day and we are seeking a place for shelter and we decided to grab something to eat at the same time so we choose to visit East Coast Lagoon Food Village. I went pass Roxy Laksa although it was raining, there are still people queuing at the stall. I decided to order a bowl to try. The laksa does not come with any cockles but is served with prawns instead. The laksa gravy is very fragrant and the prawns taste fresh.

This famous laksa stall is rumored to be one of the original Katong laksa stalls started in the 60s at the Roxy Theatre along East Coast Road. There are the options of $4 or $5 portion available. The pricing is definitely on the high side but it would still be worth it if the food and service are good. I ordered the $4 portion and it came with 3 pieces of half-medium sized prawns and a few slices of fish cake and no cockles. It served with a pinch of chopped laksa leaves and a spoonful of chilli aside. The gravy was infused with an enormous amount of coconut taste hence it tasted rather aromatic with a tinge of lemongrass. The spiciness level is just right but somehow, the oomph factor is lacking to make this experience a memorable one.

Anyway, my first impression of this bowl of laksa was a discounted one. I never really like to have my food served in the disposable wares. No matter how good the food is but by serving it in such a manner, the taste is going to be compromised. It got me to wonder a little why did they served mines in a disposable bowl when they served others in an usual plastic bowl? There were stacks of dirty plastic bowls awaiting to be washed spotted at their stall. Perhaps they were running out of plastic bowl then? Or, perhaps i ordered a $4 portion hence served in a disposable bowl? Anyway, since we paid good money then we deserved to be served properly.

Thus, the hunt for a good laksa is still on.

For laksa connoisseurs like me, finding that perfect bowl is a never ending agenda.

It's such a pity that i only recently came to know of Roxy Laksa, which is a small stall humbly nestled at the corner of East Coast Lagoon Food Village.

To stand out among the other food stalls, you might think bright lights and vibrant colours should do the job. Well, no. Roxy Laksa will prove you wrong.

The store front is so plain and run-down, one would barely even notice its existence. But surprisingly enough, it draws in its own group of loyal customers.

When i first ordered it, i was a little disappointed at the fact that the bowl of laksa doesn't come with cockles (cos we all know, laksa isn't laksa without the cockles).

So i topped up $1 to have cockles added in.

I must admit, i am quite a food critic, especially when it comes to laksa. It is my favourite local dish - can't help it.

Upon my first mouthful, i actually expected to say an immediate, "nah, can't beat my favourite bowl!" But, i didn't. It was a tough choice cos this was really good.

Some of you might beg to differ with me. I don't know, could be the Singaporean mentality of more is better. Though they are not so generous with their portions, the taste and flavor was good enough to win me over.

I personally believe that a good bowl of laksa lies in the laksa gravy. As long as you have awesome gravy (and of course, the cockles), you have a chance of me visiting you again.

The uncle at this stall for some reason, gave me spoons full of laksa leaves! I think the leaves make the dish even tastier and definitely a whole lot more yummy!

Try it out! Laksa lovers should not miss this!
