it seems that the laksa soup base is the same laksa gravy at the 328 katong laksa. It was a drizzly wet evening so what better than a steaming hot bowl of laksa soup to dip my ingredients in! Met my buddy for dinner walking over to st james at 5pm was entirely strange. and we took a bus over, it's about 2 stops away? thankfully there wasn't much of a dinner crowd yet. amazingly thin slices of meat at pretty expensive prices.this is probably one chicken fillet worth or was it just half a fillet? and paying about $4.80 for a plate. We didn't bother with chicken stock cos he says that once i've had the laksa, i wouldn't want any of the chicken stock. And the laksa chilli?! that's seriously good stuff. good times buddy!

Went there for lunch on a weekday. It is located at a place where parking is really difficult. Outside the shop, I think there's only space for a few cars to park? We had the laksa soup base and clear soup base. They charge by ala carte so you order whatever you want and you pay for that. Our total bill was $65 for 3 people. Most of the items we ordered were cheap items though so it is kind of expensive since it is not a buffet. But it is worth a try! Didn't get jelat after a while. Soup got really salty toward the end though.

Laksa Steamboat for the true blue Singaporean! You can try to walk from Habourfront MRT, quite near – maybe 15 minutes walk.San Laksa is worth travelling for be it rain or shine – it will never disappoint you! Good service and the food serve is constantly fresh with standard of quality. Be sure to come early to miss out on their signature dishes like the fish paste – sold out pretty fast. At San Laksa, you pay for what you order so it is quite steep if you come in a pair. Tips: only order 1 plate for the fish meat at it is $10 per plate!You can choose to have the half and half or solely the laksa soup base.

San Katong Laksa Steamboat is located along Telok Blangah Road. You can take the MRT to Harbour Front station and then transfer to bus number 10, 30, 57, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145 and 166. The restaurant is only 3 bus stops away.The must try of course is the laksa broth. The laksa broth was savory yet not thick. I preferred it to be more spicy so I added some of their self made laksa chilli. Surprising the food went well with the laksa broth and it was quite yummy. I also ordered the kiddy fish cake which is quite cute that looked like little piglets.

TGIS....aka Thank God Its Saturday!!! Well....my weekend starts on a Saturday and its always blissful to spend my time with my gF and to source for our next destination of attaining satisfaction with our ever demanding stomachs!Came up with this idea of visiting this steamboat restaurant when me and her pals are stuck after the initial place that we wanted to visit are fully booked! On reaching a consensus to source for another steamboat restaurant, San Katong just struck a cord on my mind and with no further hesitation i called in and make a reservation for 4 pax and viola....we got our table booked! Upon reaching...the restaurant is about 50 % packed and we were seated nicely @ one corner of the premises in less than 1 min. Service are prompt with no delay and was shown with their ala carte order chit immediately. With my "adrenalin" pumping within me, we ordered the yuan yang steamboat that consist their house special which is the laksa stock by clear stock and packed our list of order with prawns, mushroom, veggies and the usual suspects to build up on the ultimate soup stock ! However, i must raise the awareness of their fish paste as its a big thumbs up from me. The paste is fishy but the taste and texture with the correct touch of freshnes blending it into the stock equates to the relaxation by the sea so the fish paste is a must have for all! The laksa stock to my surprise is clean and light, less the rough touch of the "hAir bee hiang" and its not spicy in any bits but not forsaking on the basic instinct of the usual laksa stock that are readily available in Katong which is the sacred ground of laksa. For spicy lovers, do not that there are 3 kind of chillis that are specially prepared by the owners so for anybody that are keen to play with "FIRE" you will not be disappointed.The clear stock is nicely blend with a strong touch of the "wang dou" and all the food ingredients are all freshly prepared and the prawns just stand out from the list! The only complain that i have are the meat which are too thinly sliced and lacked the robust feel that the meat should have. Overall, the steamboat experience is all well in place and highly recommended for group gatherings for any occasions. Ups for it!
