Inspired by the France / French phrase 'C'est Bon', or 'It's Good', Saybons was founded in 2007, the first store in Singapore to provide fast, casual French food at affordable prices. Today, Saybons is still pulling in the crowds with its range of wholesome, tasty food, including their signature sweet & savoury crepes, tartines, and hand made soups.Ambience at Saybons, as befitting its concept, is fuss free and clean. Simple furniture is packed into a small seating area, and while functional, is not meant for long, leisurely dining, but on-the-go, quick, eat and leave dining. I like that Saybons is brightly lit though, and that their menu is displayed outside the shops.Saybons is semi self-service. Ordering and payment is done at the counter, but if staff are free, they will serve orders to your table. I like that staff are friendly and able to make recommendations, as well as efficient in clearing empty plates. They also make it a point to repeat your order to you, which is not commonly done at other fast-food kiosks like this.Food at Saybons is generally tasty and wholesome. Ingredients used are fresh, and emphasis is placed on hand-made products, fresh daily. Prices are reasonably affordable for their France / French food, averaging about SGD $15 or so per person for a good meal. Saybons menu is mostly focused on sweet crepes, savoury crepes, soup / broth, tartines, salads and freshly baked breads. The Tartine Tomato, Mozzarella, Basil (SGD $7.50) features fresh crisp bread, made into an open face sandwich with juicy fresh cherry tomatoes, grilled perfectly. Love the burst of juice and rich cherry tomato taste when bit! The mozzarella cheese lends a touch of earthy taste, while the basil lends a hint of freshness. Very good! The Tartine Smoked Salmon, Egg Mayo, Arugula, Dill (SGD $8.50) features soft, savoury smoked salmon on an open face sandwich with crisp bread. The egg mayo has a dash of pepper, livening the flavour, while the arugula and dill lend a fresh, earthy taste, and some crunch. The Soup Wild Mushroom (SGD $4.20 Regular) has a semi-rich, creamy texture, and nice mushroom flavour. But I was slightly let down by the lack of mushroom chunks within, the soup / broth was smooth overall. Still, pretty tasty, and a good choice to have! The Soup Fresh Tomato (SGD $3.80) is definitely fresh, which is important. The richness of the tomato is evident, and the flavour is warm, comforting, and hearty. Very good! Perhaps too much though, as drinking this in large portions makes it rather one-note, would be better if some herbs were added. I added some pepper towards the end to change up the flavour slightly.I loved the Escargot Garlic Herb (SGD $9), with a half dozen, deshelled fresh snails, cooked perfectly, neither too hard or too soft. The garlic herb butter sauce infuses each mouthful with a fragrant, savoury aroma.Full Saybons review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/07/saybons.html 繼續閱讀

There were a few empty tables when we went during lunch time though the tabletops were mostly dirty. Ordered a chicken cheese crepe for mum and a strawberry white chocolate almond crepe for myself. Received a pager to wait for our food to be ready. It is self service so when it beep, just take the pager to the counter to retrieve your order. Chicken cheese was more crispy than my strawberry chocolate maybe because the chocolate had melted and hence made the crepe more soggy at the middle to bottom? The top portion of my sweet crepe was cripsy though. There was quite a number of small slices of strawberries and a sprinkle of crunchy almond slices in the crepe to create different texture which was a plus.  Overall, for its price it was a okay. 繼續閱讀

Walking past the open concept restaurant, I am attracted by the duck rillettes tartine ($9.50), and decide to have my meal here. The place has a fast food like concept, where one orders, pays for one's order and collects drinks and soups at the cashier. There is only one cashier. The queue is quite long too. Just my luck they have ran out of duck rillettes tartine. So I decide on Smoked Salmon, Egg Mayo, Arugula, Dill Tartine ($8.50). It seems that the tartines are pre-made and displayed at the cold shelf for sale. One can select and bring to the cashier for payment. As I am having it dine in, the staff also offers to heat the tartine up. A pagar is given which lights up when the tartine is ready for collection. The food collection counter is behind with salt and pepper next to it.The tartine smells great. The bread is toasted too crispy and difficult to cut through wih the plastic knife, so have to eat using bare hand. The egg mayo is over-seasoned and way too salty. Could barely make myself finish the tartine. More salty than the salmon. There is some raw spinach under the salmon too.I notice the mouth watering looking raisin scones at the cashier and decide on 4 pieces for takeaway. Each costs $2.50. The scone is served with butter and jam. The jam is quite nice and not too sweet. But the scone is quite dry. Also order a can of diet coke which costs $1.50. The cup of ice is given after been asked.Overall the food is average. The turnover of tables is quite fast. Most customers do not clear the tables themselves and the staffs seldom come to do the clean up. Therefore the dine-in area could be a bit messy. 繼續閱讀

Their escargots are affordable and very awesome. The garlic herb escargots cost $8.50 for half a dozen. You have got to wait a little before it's being served to you. Hot. It was very juicy and succulent. The fragrance of the garlic herb complemented with the escargots so nicely that will leave you craving for more. To fill me up a little more, I ordered a wild mushroom soup. I love the taste of their mushroom soup. lightly salted, very thick, rich and creamy. It was just lovely! 繼續閱讀
