After hearing about the many great reviews on TV and social media, I decided to make reservations for a box of 9 lava cakes as a unique cake to celebrate my sis's birthday. I called them 2 days in advance to make the order and providing my preferred choice of flavours and they returned the call indicating that they have noted my preferences.On the day itself, I went to collect the cakes but apparently there were only 5 flavours and I had no choice but to choose from the flavours I initially did not wanted. I was quite disappointed with regards to this incident. After writing in to them, the Smoulders Team was very kind to provide me with a complimentary box of lava cakes and even advised me when I should collect the cakes in order to have the most flavours. (Psst, that day would be Wednesday - Thursday)Really kudos and thumbs up to their service recovery.With regards to the cake, it will make you go "Mmm!" The freshness of the cake, the richness of the ingredients really shapes up how gorgeous this cake is. I really like how creative the chefs are, constantly coming up with new, colourful cakes to add on to their line of lava cakes. This is definitely a 'will-return' experience that I am looking forward to!

We ordered the intense dark chocolate and white chocolate pistachio! The staff are very friendly, helpful and patient with my hesitation. The intense dark chocolate was as described - thick gooey chocolate that melts in my mouth, it was really good and puts a smile on my face. White chocolate pistachio was interesting as it was nutty and the combination with white chocolate made it all good. I seldom come to this area as there's not much to walk and it's more for the working individuals around the area.

We went around savoring pastries and cakes today and discovered many small and nice cafe and bakeries with wide selections at this area. We spotted Smoulder and the kids were excited to see the petite size of the lava cake, so I bought some for them to try. Per piece was at $3.20 and if purchased 3 pieces then it would be at $9. I got the signature chocolate, the rum & raisins and the intense chocolate flavor, the kids loved it and agreed that it was nice and the quality was of good grade but I did think it was a bit dear as the size of the cake was half of the size of a muffin cake case.
