the hokkien mee at gluttons bay is really good, totally live up to the name of the street. one mouth and it leaves you craving for more. the gravy of the hokkien mee is go tasty and thick. it is not too salty, just right. the noodles are very smooth, simply glides down your throat. another lips smacker is their sambal. without it, the dish will feel like something is missing. the sambal is the sweetish, spicy kind. it will blow your head off.

Ordered the Hokkien Prawn Mee at $4 plus $2 fresh oysters since we cant finish a plate of ork lua.The prawns were surprisingly fresh ,transparents,big and crunchy but tasteless(they could have added baking soda to the prawns for a long time)For $2 add on oysters,they gave me 4 pieces and they were middle sizes and fresh and cooked just right (medium rare)Overall i love the taste as it's rich in stock and not at all dry

Ordered a plate of Fried Hokkien Mee from Soon Lee Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee stall to share with my friends. Like what the other reviewers mentioned, the hokkien mee here is more wet than dry. I personally prefer drier hokkien mee like the ones in chomp chomp, with the thinner bee hoon as compared to this one.The overall taste was average, and i would still rate chomp chomp's hokkien over this one anytime.

Soon Lee Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is a stall located along Makansutra Gluttons Bay.I ordered a $4 portion, the smallest one available, if I do remember correctly, the servings come in $4, $6 and $8. Their fried hokkien prawn mee are of the soupy based category, not the fried dry ones. The prawns weren't exactly the highlight of the dish, they were crunchy but pale in color and they weren't juicy. The sambal chili added good flavor to the overall though.I would say I'm neutral about this stall, let's just say you'd like it only when you're hungry.

It got me to wonder why such a standard of Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is allowed to be at Makansutra Gluttons Bay, a popular tourist spot. The prawns were obviously not fresh, very stale and emitted a strong fishy odor. The noodle was equally bad, it might be fried and then re-fried, it tasted really funny and with lousy texture. This was indeed the lousiest fried hokkien mee i ever tasted. I walked off without finishing it, leaving behind the noodle, the prawns and sotong. I was there at about 9.45 pm, and it might be part of the reason for so but still, it's absolutely unacceptable.
