There is a long queue of people at this stall when I reach the place. And most have huge orders. For example the guy in front has ordered 12 lotus pasta pau and 12 steamed meat pau. With such long queue, there is only 2 staffs serving the customers and another one busy making the pau at the back.Stewed pork / Bian pau 扁包 ($0.60)It is the first I have a stewed pau that is so small. Can nicely fit into the mouth. The pork is shredded into pulled pork form, very tender and flavourful but I feel it
It is the first I have a stewed pau that is so small. Can nicely fit into the mouth. The pork is shredded into pulled pork form, very tender and flavourful but I feel it is a bit dry. Roasted pork / Char Siew pau 叉烧包 ($0.60)
Unlike the usual red coloured char siew, here it looks a natural brown and in a quite finely chopped texture. Steamed meat (small) / Xiao Rou pau 小肉包 ($0.60)
Steamed meat (big) / Da Rou pau 大肉包 ($1.20)
The meat filling tastes quite lean. A bit disappointed as there is no egg in the big steamed pau. Chicken meat / Ji Rou pau 鸡肉包 ($1.20)
The meat filling is very finely minced, and tastes quite juicy, unlike the usual the fatty filling. Red bean paste / Dou Sha pau 豆沙包 ($0.60)
The red bean paste is not too sweet. Longevity (Lotus paste) / Shou Tao 寿桃 ($0.60)
Lotus paste / Lian Rong pau ($0.60)
Both have lotus paste filling, but must be real good because after grandmother has the lotus paste pau, she also has the Longevity pau, giving some reason that Longevity pau is for old people. Steamed chicken (glutinous) / Luo Mai Kai 糯米鸡 ($1.20)
The rice is quite flavourful, topped with the juicy chicken slices. Pork dumpling / Siew Mai 烧卖 ($0.60)
This tastes quite average.
Overall the pau are delicious and have quite thin skin. Except that the pau are quite small in size, even for the big steamed pau.
