The FoodThis is my third time trying Texas chicken and this time instead of its chicken, I took away its french fries instead. Even though I did not dine in, the french fries did not disappoint. It was still really hot when I tasted it. Love how it taste like, very "potato" which is a good thing. Even before digging in, I could smell the potato smell already. Thumbs up!!! Good choice when you need to fill your stomach on the go.

Strawberry Shortcake

This is qute a delightable dessert from Texas Chicken. The base is filled with a piece of their in-house fluffy biscuit before topped with generous amount of strawberries and sweet gravy. The strawberry gravy is very tasty and the strawberry fruits are also quite fresh and crunchy too. Lastly added the usual soft vanilla ice cream topped on it that make the appearance really nice and delicious. If you taste the whole thing together, is really appetitizing as well. Ask for fresh food!

I was hungry before a flight and Texas Fried Chicken caught my eye - seemed like the perfect innocuous food before traveling. I ordered the chicken strip set for a bit under $8 which included 3 chicken strips, fries, a biscuit, and a drink. Seems like a pretty good value for the airport.I got the food immediately and went and sat down. I could tell just by looking at them that the fries were not fresh (they look gross in the photo!). I got the food immediately and went and sat down. I could tell just by looking at them that the fries were not fresh (they look gross in the photo!). I took a bite and they were cold and hard - completely inedible. I took a bite of the chicken strips and they were at least warm, but still definitely not hot.

Anyway, I decided to ask for new fries since they were so terrible. I went up to the counter and explained, and they told me to come back in 3 minutes. When I returned I had to explain myself all over again, but I did eventually get new fries that were much better.

I thought this was pretty good for fast food - I liked the spicy chicken strips with all-white meat (though wish there was some sauce for it!) and the sweet, buttery biscuit - but they really need to pay more attention to quality control - what they initially served me was inedible.

The Food:

Let's go straight to the main point. There's basically two kinds of chicken to choose from: original or spicy. The original was bland and tasteless though you have to give them credit for being crunchier than at Popeyes and KFC. The spicy? People with low tolerance beware! Texas Fried Chicken takes its spicy wings more seriously than the other joints.

Overall, the chicken's as fresh as the rest and less salty than those from Popeye. However, the flavouring which is what differentiates the various outlets is fares the worst. We are still with Popeye's and good old KFC.

Now to the sides, the mashed potato was gross and we are almost certain its made from powder. The honey butter biscuits, however, was delightful! Sweet and tasty at the same time. Their fries are great too.

Drinks-wise, there's quite a range at Texas Fried Chicken. Besides the usual soft drinks, there's Sjora juice, iced peach tea, hot chocolate, and a selection of coffee like latte, cappuccino, espresso and cafe mocha. I absolutely loved the coke float with soft serve ice cream.

For an overview, you could go for the Texas Sampler ($7.80), which consists of fried chicken, honey butter biscuits, a side and a drink. Otherwise, you go for the two-piece chicken meal ($7), three-piece chicken meal ($9.60), 3 wings meal ($6.40), 3 tenders meal ($6.40) among others.

The Mood:

Simple, no-frills fast food joint style. Expect no cushy sofas like Starbucks!
