The cafe was located under a rather old HDB block. The cafe was quickly filled with young families during a Saturday lunch time. Looking at the 2 single sheets of menu, I realised that the cafe now offered set meals. For $18.90, the set meal included a choice of pasta (Anchovy/Kecap Manis/Zucchini & Feta Cheese), Soup of the Day, and a choice of Coffee or Tea. There was also a $10 cake + coffee/ tea set. Since its lunch time, I decided on the $18.90 set meal. Only cash and NETS payment was accepted here.Irish Latte (ala carte $6.5/ Iced)The drink was milky with chocolaty notes but I could not taste the irish part in here.Soup of the DayThe Soup of the Day turned out to be mushroom soup and it was served quite hot in a cup. The soup was rich but a bit too much black pepper for me.Anchovy (ala carte $15)capers, garlic, slow-cooked egg, fusilliThe capers was in a very fine powder form. Although it looked plain, it tasted quite flavourful.  繼續閱讀

Had a free day to enjoy a leisure lunch with hubby. We had their daily set lunch offers and that included a pasta, a soup of the day and a coffee/tea. We had their Mushroom Soup to start and its served in a large coffee cup - cute. Their mushroom soup certainly tasted homemade and very velvety. Their soup came served with a blob of cream and when you mix it in yourself, it just added another layer of sensation to the soup experience. Haha...Hubby and I had their Anchovy Pasta and their Kecap Manis Pasta. I loved the Kecap Manis Pasta as its really quite a familiar home-y flavour. Almost something my grandma would make and I put pasta in it. Delightful!I thought the Anchovy Pasta a tad too fishy for me. Hubby thought differently as he found the pasta very flavourful. We both thought the serving of pasta is generous and worth every cent of the set pricing. Coffee here definitely doesn't disappoint at all. I always drink my coffee (Ang mo type or kopitiam) with sugar as it is always a tad too bitter for me. I ordered a latte here and I could just drink it without sugar and really fully tasting the coffee in it!! Wonderful way to end a good meal!!A most happy find in the Toa Payoh and my new hangout place!!! 繼續閱讀

Another cafe has opened its door in my hood in toa payoh - The Daily Press. This under the block cafe in the midst of the ageing estate, serves up a good variety of sandwiches with a twist. Coffee's from liberty coffee. The CoffeeFound out that the beans used are from liberty coffee and I liked how the beans are mixed to give that very neutral, non acidic flavour. If you are lucky and imaginative, you can give catch a pokeball shot in the shop. K.F.C (Korean 'Fried' Chicken) sandwich First impression counts and the the sandwich  was a real treat. The bread was a tad tough (due to its nature) but very flavorful. It complements that made from scratch korean fried chicken. Found out that the Daily Press makes their own kimchi, marinates the chicken in it and bakes the chicken with crumbs. All these work just that we can savour this dish on our table.overall reviewictures and full review @ http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2015/01/the-daily-press-lorong-1-toa-payoh.html  or follow me on ig http://instagram.com/shauneeie for more food hunts 繼續閱讀
