After trying the highly raved crabmeat pasta which I felt was overrated, I had the seared scallop & prawn pasta with prawn bisque sauce ($26). Linguine wasn't done in al dente style which I would very much prefer as the linguine was soaked in the watery prawn bisque sauce. The sauce had a watery texture which resembled that of gravy. There was a distinct prawn taste in the bisque. The scallops were a tad tough and wasn't really easy to chew and swallow. My partner had the beef and red wine ragu pasta ($26). The braised oxtail in it was tender and easily absorbed the gravy. Garlic was added but it was very mild. We couldn't really taste any hint of red wine too. Overall, it tasted average. 繼續閱讀

Full The Marmalade Pantry review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/08/the-marmalade-pantry.htmlThe Marmalade Pantry first opened its city outlet in 2009, enticing diners with its 'modernist larder' concept, which promises fresh, healthy and tasty food that is prepared quickly. Drawing rave reviews, especially for their creative and pretty cupcakes, pastries and cakes, I was left feeling confused when I experienced poor food and poor service at The Marmalade Pantry during a recent visit... perhaps it was a bad day for them.Ambience at The Marmalade Pantry has an elegant colonial charm, with fine tableware and colours of black and white offset by gold and wood trimmings. Love the open concept of the city outlet, perfect for people watching and relaxing. But the cramped floorspace means less privacy, and you can easily listen in on the next table's conversations.During my visit, I received below average service at the The Marmalade Pantry. First, it was difficult to attract staff's attention, even though the restaurant wasn't packed. Second, they forget to serve my dessert after I asked for it, and I had to remind them again. On the plus side, staff did offer greetings when I stepped into The Marmalade Pantry, and food was served quickly.I'm rather ambivalent about the food at The Marmalade Pantry. While I commend the use of fresh ingredients, and the beautiful plating of dishes, the actual execution of the dishes fell flat. For a upper-range cafe with higher than average prices, I expect better quality and skill than what I got, as such, I feel that The Marmalade Pantry is not value for money.Portions sizes are decent enough for one person. I think the desserts at The Marmalade Pantry stood out for me as well, very pretty presentations, with good taste, though some are overly sweet. Overall, I would probably only recommend The Marmalade Pantry for desserts, not for main courses. The aggressive looking Lemon Meringue Sponge Cake (SGD $8) has a sweet, airy, and light meringue that shatters easily, revealing the soft cake within. The cake is somewhat dry, but stands out for its zesty lemon cream that is a burst of flavour in the mouth.I loved the Peony Jade White Tea (SGD $7), with its light body, delicate floral aroma, and sweet fruity taste of lychee and passionfruit, with a slight bitter finish. Excellent choice for an afternoon high tea session! The Bananas And Berries Hotcakes (SGD $16) is served with a medly of berries (blueberries, strawberries) and honeycomb infused butter. The problem was the poorly cooked pancakes, which were limp, dry, and slightly tough in texture. Not satisfiying or tasty at all, in fact, The Marmalade Pantry received several complains about the poor quality of this dish from diners that day. Avoid! The Seared Scallop And Prawn Fettuccine (SGD $24) was actually good. The fettuccine pasta was cooked well, and the seafood of scallops and prawns were plump, meaty, and fresh! However, the tiger prawn bisque sauce tasted similar to the Prawn Noodles soup you'll get from your local coffee shop, making this a fusion style dish, with Italian and Singaporean influence. Also, I felt the stock was too intense, and the aroma of crustacean was so overpowering the table next to ours could smell it. I had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that I was eating something that tastes like a Singaporean Prawn Noodles soup. The Pandan Kaya Cupcake (SGD $4.80) was created to celebrate Singapore's National Day by resident pastry chef Louie Moong, and features a soft, moist, pandan and coconut flavoured cupcake, topped with a swirl of coconut meringue, with a dollop of kaya / pandan coconut egg jam at the center. 繼續閱讀

Marmalade Pantry is easy to spot once you step onto level three from the shopping mall's escalator, because it is in the form of a large circular enclave right in the middle of the other stores / restaurants. Even in the afternoons, this place is packed with happy-looking diners chatting away or enjoying their meals. The ambience is a cosy and elegantly-simple. he moment you enter the cafe / restaurant, you will pass by the counter where rows of delectable-looking pastries greet you. Yes, they all look so good, it makes you wonder which to pick.Got seated, and browsed the menu. The wait staff were rather efficient, constantly checking if we were ready to order. For the first visit, it was really just tea break, so I happily ordered myself a slice of Dark Cherry Tart and an Iced Chocolate with Ice-Cream.The tart, while topped with plenty of dark cherries, is rather barren of ingredients within. It has the texture of a pie - slightly chewy, not crunchily-fluffy like how tarts are supposed to be. The crust is of the right level of hardness - easy to break but retaining the slightly-harder outer layer of a good tart. Nonetheless, I loved the light, buttery fragrance of the tart paired with the sour-sweetness of the juicy cherries. The Iced Chocolate is another story altogether - diluted, Milo-tasting drink which was only made nicer with the scoop of vanilla ice-cream adding flavor to it. Pardon me, or could it be that my tastebuds were blanded by the sweetness of the cake? I doubt so.For more detailed information and photos, do visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2013/12/tea-at-marmalade-pantry.html 繼續閱讀

Had a lovely high tea session with my fellow friends at this high class café. I bought their Blueberry cupcake and fresh brewed coffee. The cupcake is very colourful and the strawberry cream is sweet and smooth. The blueberry filling is full of the fresh fruit topped on it and the butter cake is moist and full of the butter natural flavour. Coffee is bitter but taste great as well. However for nearer $20 for both items, is quite expensive. Environment is very nice and pretty and service is very friendly too. 繼續閱讀

Open dining concept. Has the pork belly and salmon salad. The main dishes weren't as good as I expected but oh boy the desserts were fantastic! Carrot cake had the right amount of cream cheese frosting. Its hard to find the right amount of sweetness for this cake and marmalade pantry nailed it! The pecan pie was not bad - crunchy with a hint of cinnamon but the highlight was the ice cream and caramelised banana that was served on the side with the pie - absolutely delicious! My only After calling my bill, it took about 10 - 15 mins for it to come. This is something they could improve on. Overall, I would definitely come back for the desserts. 繼續閱讀
