Old-fashion looking café, it served lots of signatory Malaysia Cuisine. With their marble and wooden furniture inspired, it seemed brought me back to 90s century. Some special dishes photos were visible on the wall, appealing. Menu given was straightforward, in Chinese and English wordings, we ordered without wavering too much. My main course, luckily it was not overly sticky. Slight burnt aroma, Kway Teow was just nice to be eaten. Chilli was horribly red but not spicy at all. With scrumptious ingredients, the portion was filling. Approximately $5.00, the price was shockingly affordable. Big in portion for this, skin was tear-able. Veggies were coordinated nicely to create a harmony texture, soft yet with some crunchy bite. Simplest dish, the chef did a good job and tasted not bad. Roughly $3.00, there was nothing to complain about. 繼續閱讀

My colleagues brought me to the Old Malaya Cafe for some authentic Malaysian cuisine.I entered the small shop that was decorated to resemble a shop from the olden times with items from the past. Looking at the menu, i was spoiled for choice but i chose to get the Melaka chicken ball rice ($5). For the price i got a plate of chicken rice balls (4) and a plate of chicken. I think for the price paid, its quite a reasonable deal with plenty of meat. The chicken meat tastes quite different from the usual chicken rice. It has quite a crispy texture to it. I did not really like the chicken rice balls though. My colleague also ordered this Kueh Pie Tie. It was awesome. This cafe also serves other popular Malaysian dishes. Both authentic and affordable. No need to cross the border when you can easily visit this cafe to satisfy your cravings! 繼續閱讀

Located at 313 @ Somerset, Old Malaya Cafe is rather accessible via all public transport. Once you stepped into the cafe, you will feel as if you have just been transported to some cafe in Malacca. The renovation here is rather vintage and reminded you of the old Malaysia Kampong. We ordered salted plum drink($2), kumquat drink($2), sago gula malacca($2). Over here, there is no service charge and my overall spending is only $6.50. The sago gula malacca was rather simple with a taste of the gula malacca and some coconut milk.Drinks were ok and not too sweet. Both the drinks were rather sourish in taste.Overall, it's just a place for you to sit down, rest a while before you continue the shopping. However for the price, I think it's quite worth it as it's in Orchard road that you are talking about. 繼續閱讀

I went shopping at 313 somerset and decided to go to the basement to have some dessert for tea. As the chendol at old malaya cafe was relatively cheap at around $2.80, I decided to give it a try. It is quite refreshing on a hot day, but the ice melted fast and it became quite diluted after that. The chendol was topped with green jelly and red beans, and it wasn't too sweet. 繼續閱讀

FoodI dont usually like to have Hor Fun, however I have ordered the KL Sau Hor Fun (滑蛋河粉), thinking that it is good and bad choice, I was way disappointed by the food. Food is below par! This hor fun comes with 2 prawns that were not fresh, once you bite on it, it just feels like having the first bite on chewing gum where it tastes powdery. EEk! It comes with 3 pieces of char siew which tastes alright, few pieces of liver and sotongs blend in the gluey graving coated every bite of the food on the plate.I had a plate of KL Sau hor fun and a can of pokka green tea that costs me $7. It saddens me to see that such meal costs me this much.ServiceWhy was a queue created in the first place when the cashier keeps on taking orders from someone behind me? Am I transparent? I'm quite pissed off with poor customer service. The cashier just dont seems to understand the queuing system! Atrocious! They will give you a device during your order at the counter, when your food is ready, the device will light up and you have to take the food from the kitchen counter. During that period of time, it is very obvious that the place is over staff - some are seen idling.AmbienceFull of empty seats, tools are not comfortable to make it worse, the food sucks. PriceOverpriced and small portion, with this pricing, I rather eat in the nearby kopitiam!Recommendation / TipsI will not step into this cafe again, banned! 繼續閱讀
