The only Tonkatsu specialty chained restaurant in Singapore, Tonkichi bills itself as a cosy restaurant in reminiscent of the causal eateries in Japan. With the soft yellow lighting, the restaurant is a stark contrast from the nearby brightly-lit Japanese department store, Isetan. Feeling excited to try it again, I went Tonkichi for my lunch. The interior was a typical Japanese-style, fairly decent with simple furnishing. If you love to eat Japanese curry, the version here at Tonkichi will not disappoint you. The curry gravy is more towards the sweeter version and it is not as spicy as compare to those normal Chinese or Indian curries out there. The texture is more towards the thicker version and goes really well with their fragrant japanese rice served here. Lots of soft and moist potato and carrot cubes can be found inside it as well.

Mixed seafood katsu set consist of 2 fried prawns, oyster, fish fillet and crab croquette. This place is very packed especially on the peak hours during dinner time. I love their prawns and crab croquette. Fish fillet was okay and oyster there's a smell. Don't really like it. I find it all over fried as it is very hard and crunchy to bite. Overall, soso.. Don't think i'll go back again!
