The last time I dined at Trattoria Culina was years back, when 313 @ Somerset just opened. Well, good to know that this authentic Italian restaurant has planted its feet firmly here, despite the changing trends and other restaurants closing down, etc. Hence, it was time to revisit for a good old Italian dinner. For mains, we shared the Baked Lasagna with Bolognese and Bechamel (SGD$19.90) - tender layers of minced beef ragu enclaved between layers of cheese and pasta, a sticky and chewy delight, teasing the palate with rich flavors and texture. Then we also had a Ravioli Al Funghi (SGD$24.90) - pretty, scallop-shaped ravioli bursting with cheese , tossed in a delicious cream sage sauce. There were at least two types of mushrooms spotted, adding to the dish the distinctive sweetness of mushrooms. The ravioli was taut and once bitten in, the melting cheese exploded in the mouth. This was a fabulous selection. For dessert, we shared an Apple Crumble (SGD$9.90) - a delicious bowl of fresh apple cubes, rocks of pastry and a large scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was warm and tasty, not too sweet, with the large rocks of crunchy crusts adding bite and flavor to the whole dessert overall. For full review and more photographs, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/12/dinner-at-trattoria-culina-italian-313.html

Visit http://www.umakemehungry.com/2014/06/trattoria-italian-kitchen.html for more reviewsTrattoria Italian kitchen is located at a strategic place as it is located at the ground floor of 313 Somerset diagonally opposite the MRT exit. Layout and design of the dining place was tailored to an Italian environment whereby Italy flag was seen hanging and the 3 main colors of Italy Flag was also part of Trattoria Business Icon.Alfresco Dining Concept was adopted here and the area was near to the common walkways in the mall, I would say those who visit Somerset 313 will never fail to pass by this corner especially when it is a little distance away from the escalator. For those who enjoy the crowd, this place is bustling. However if you want somewhere quiet for a chat, it's not that ideal as I had to raised my voice in my conversation. The menu of Trattoria was rather creative as they tied a booklet with a white chopping board as it base. The Italian menu was quite understandable as the menu has English elaborations on the dishes available. Though so, it took us quite sometimes to order as I'm still very "green" to italian main dish except for pizzas.Beverages served were relatively fast thus allowing us to make ourselves comfortable and settle down for some good chats while waiting for the mains. While my friend had a cup of coffee. The Calamari rings we had as starters were not too bad just that the color was abit far more than expected. The fresh squid rings were coated in their in-house batter, deep fried and served with tartar sauce, a perfect choice as Antipasti while waiting for the mains.Home made oven baked lasagna layered with beef ragu and bechamel sauce. Passable taste but not to die for.The main was a disaster for me, regretted totally in ordering such dish. I had a "tough" fight with the chicken for the whole meal with my fork and knife. Perhaps the only portion I like was its top in Tomato and Cheese only while the rest was below par. I'm simply shocked with the kind of standard, meat was very tough and some portions were too crispy to be bitten. The experienced we had in terms of service received was not up to standards. Servers were rather rude. Initially we had two tables to ourselves but in the midst of enjoying our conversation and dinner, the server walked up and interrupted mentioning that the table will be taken away in a abrupt manner without any apologies. Attentiveness is also lacking in area. There are alot of room for improvement on their service and food.

One of the familiar hanging out area, it was located at upper level of Somerset MRT. Trattoria Italian was obviously visible at centre of 313, the place was open concept in nature. We were greeted by a polite staff and she guided us to an empty seat. Early stage of dinner hour, the restaurant was not too crowded. Menu featured a wide array of slightly pricey dishes, we asked for recommendations. Finally, I ordered my favourite Pasta. Basically the gravy stirred along was in strong fragrance of garlic and chilli peppers. Notch-top freshness of Salmon when my first taste, it certainly fulfilled all criteria I want. Noodle was bouncy and utterly healthy with the olive oil added, finest luxury enjoyment. Portion wise, it was too delicious thus not enough for me. Overlooking the whole, Trattoria was a gem of Italian Restaurant and everything was satisfied.

Located just diagonally in front of the escalator of Somerset MRT exit is this Italian restaurant. Thus it's very easily access via public transport as beside MRT, there are also bus stops within 5 mins walk. Beside that, there are also ample of parking lots within 313 somerset and the nearby vicinity. The interior deco of the restaurant adopted alfresco concept. However as this is indoor thus you will no worries be it rain or shine. On top of that, as it's near to the exit toward the MRT, it made a very good place for people watching.I ordered linguine vogole ($18.50) and it arrived relatively fast. However although the noodle was meant to be al dente, i find it a little bit too hard. Slightly softer texture would be perfect as the clams serving was generous and the overall taste is rather delicious. Long black( $5.20) is using illy coffee thus the quality of the coffee is being assured here. What's life without dessert right? I ordered tiramisu ($7.50) which come in a ramekin. It was dusted with some chocolate powder and topped with some berry compote. Overall it tasted good as it is creamy but not too rich and best of all it wasn't too sweet.Overall I like the food here and the ambiance here is rather inviting for me. However service here is almost non existence although 10% service charge is payable beside GST. So if you don't mind almost no service and crave for some Italian food, food here is quite decent and affordable.
