Wish for authentic Hong Kong dim sum in Singapore where you don't have to purchase an air ticket to savour it? Victor's Kitchen @ Bencoolen Street is the joint to visit! Do not be fool by the setup of the outlet as it will take your breathe away just like Tom Cruise did in Top Gun!

Situated within the Sunshine Plaze, this heart warming dim sum joint will make your heart pounced not once, not twice but throughout the time as they will wow you on their simple but yet authentic Hong Kong style dim sum that will glued any gluttons to their seat. A usual sightings of packed house of patron is what Victor's Kitchen is capable of!

Always remember there is one "sacred" procedure that you have to abide to, which is to request and place and order of XO sauce! A heavenly sauce that will conjoin any dim sum dishes and translate into angelic greatness. The all time personal favourite of mine, the Custard Bun with its grainy fillings oozed with great personality that is just pure enchantment to lay my hands on. The usual local favourite of Siew Mai and Har Gao are packed with total freshness that streamline from the meat fillings and the prawn equating in it. The Phoenix Porridge is light in texture and warm for all glutton's stomach with the right composition of ingredients nothing too empowering nor strong. Last to finish off the meal, their recent hot seller on the menu and the must have, the Summer Ice Tea that is served in a bowl of ice! A soothing platform that maintain the chilling and refreshing effect which highly compliment the silky smooth ice milk tea less any after taste from the dryness. A big thumbs up!

An "A" list dim sum joint on my recommendation that served absolute authentic Hong Kong dim sum at simply reasonable price. Victor's Kitchen is a must visit joint for all! Lastly if you are lucky, you will be able to experience the "3D blabbering" between its staff and the management personnel at the counter, a scenario that you will usually encounter in a Hong Kong food joint! A real true experience!!!

As we wanted to hae dim sum, we decided to go to Victor's Kitchen as it was quite well known. Some of the items we ordered include the prawn chee cheong fun and the fried prawn dumpling. The cheong fun was quite thin and was semi-translucent. It wraps itself around fresh, succulent prawn. So nice as the tezture of the cheong fun was smooth. The Fried Prawn Dumplings were crunchy on the outside and it was filled with fresh prawn meat in the inside. Delicious. Although it was fried, it was not oil

Of course, the shrimp/prawn dumplings are a must must, which I've written before, but this time i was looking out what else to eat as I was pretty bored with the usuals! The top picks on the table tonight was:

The fried wonton, about $5, was simply the fried wonton with shrimp and mayo. But somehow, their shrimp has always that sweet taste, the best taste ever can get, like the one in the steamed shrimp dumpling. Man, I don't know how to describe. This is just super addictive, in the fried version. Who denies fried stuff? Health conscious only does. The rest of us just get all the trans-fats in yeah!

The chicken wrap (about $6-9) : This was the today's special, which has the crab stick, the fish liver/stomach, chicken meat, corn, wrapped in the thin tofu skin. The taste was a bit bland, so a trickle of soy sauce should do the trick. But the taste and the filling was superb, I must say,
, it was really full with the fish stomach and the wrap, comes in twos, are really a filler. MUST TRY! It gives out a sweet soup/water when you bite, so be careful as it gets messy once you start biting them!

Sticky rice: about ~$5 Different than wrapped in bamboo leaf, this one is wrapped in the lotus leaf, canton style. The sticky rice was really a good companion as the carbo in the table, and they have chopped chicken part of the wrap. It's a big wrap so you can share in twos or threes if you wish to try more dishes.

My uncle was craving dimsum I knew, when he called me up saying let's meet up tomorrow at Victor's Kitchen for lunch. It was public holiday, so be forewarned that this restaurant always has a Q! Must must order, the king prawn dumpling (hakau) which is about $7. The prawns are soft, with the sweet taste and a hint ot saltiness (with a lot of saltiness for me dipping into the soy sauce) and it's just PERFECT. THE BEST SHRIMP DUMPLINGS in the whole Singapore.

The siew mai (should be lower a bit than dumpling price) was also one top thing to try, because not like others where it's hard and quite dry, here's much softer and you can taste a bigger bits of the meat - most places only give a weeeeeny teeny little bits of meat but this one, you can count on it to be oozing with good pork oil and the best greasy chewy taste of what a siew mai can give.

These are the two top things I'd always order, my personal favorites. Drinks would be usually chrysanthemum tea, hot or cold because they make their own tea - not from cans or whatever! Must try!

The prices are comparable to Red Star's and Yan Palace. I always order Siew mai, Chicken claw and Century egg porridge for dim sum. I would say Victor's have the best porridge among the rest, with generous serving of century eggs and chicken chunks. Their glutinous rice is good too. They also have steamed carrot cake (a must try). Total bill was about $19.
