Had a tasting event and tried these few dishes and will give individual dishes review:1) Black Ebi BurgerThis is a very interesting burger as the bun is charcoal black and is due to it being seasoned with squid ink. The deep fried Ebi patty is very crispy and thick and it is a good meat to veg ratio. The prawn in the patty is really succulent and pairs super well with the soft sweet bun. The sauces are likely to be a peppery mayo and squid ink garlic aioli. All in all a very good Jap themed burg

Had a tasting event and tried these few dishes and will give individual dishes review:

1) Black Ebi Burger

This is a very interesting burger as the bun is charcoal black and is due to it being seasoned with squid ink. The deep fried Ebi patty is very crispy and thick and it is a good meat to veg ratio. The prawn in the patty is really succulent and pairs super well with the soft sweet bun. The sauces are likely to be a peppery mayo and squid ink garlic aioli. 
All in all a very good Jap themed burger. (Comes with a good amount of fries - sweet paprika, pepper and salt seasoned)

2) Truffled Mushroom Burger

Easily my favourite dish of the night. Abundant Aragula/rocket leaves and mushrooms (well-seasoned) on top of a thick beef patty. The truffle and truffle oil really lifts the burger to more refined taste level and the garlic aioli really helps to tie in the whole burger (the earthy umami mushroom and truffle taste with the sweetness of the aioli and bun and the peppery Aragula). And to add a richness to the burger, it is topped with gruyre cheese (melts over the burger just oh so nicely).
(Comes with a good amount of fries - sweet paprika, pepper and salt seasoned)

3) Southern Style fried Chicken

This fried chicken is to die for. It is chicken thigh pieces (no bone and the skin oh my!) fried to perfection. It is super tender and crispy at the same time. It was a good portion of about 8-10 pieces and the sauce accompanying, the maple syrup, really tied into the Southern Style and made me wish there were waffles also! (hahah I am greedy)
One of the best fried chicken I ever had (likely due to the well fried buttermilk batter coating)

4) Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken

Same as the fried chicken above but topped with adundant amount of Sriracha. Whoever prefers spicy to go with their fried chicken should order this. (my personal taste tends to lean towards sweet that's why I prefer the above chicken)
The spice level is mild and will not blow your head off. Goes really well with beer. 

5) Curry Fries

Thick cut fries with strong curry taste and topped with deep fried curry leaves, which gives a good flavour kick. The fries are fragant and well balanced in taste. And the fries are really abundant (can share amongst 3 guys over a beer). 

6) Sichuan Fries

Unfortunately the least favourite dish of the night. The sichuan peppercorn aftertaste really numbs the tongue and coupled with the sour after taste, the dish just did not do for me. Novel but not my thing.

7) Chilli Cheese Fries

Abundant amount of beef chilli, good topping of sour cream and scallions on top adds a different flavour dimension. One note, you have to eat this quickly or the fries will start to be soggy due to the beef chilli topping (especially if you want to retain the beautiful crisp that Wildfire Burgers does with their fries).

題外話/補充資料: All in all, it was an amazing tasting experience and the food was amazing. I feel the chef coming out to introduce his dishes and answer any queries was a nice touch. If you are looking for familiar American bold dishes cooked with Asian flair, Wildfire Burgers will not disappoint and I highly recommend this place. And the location is just perfect, you have the feel of dining Alfresco but it is sheltered and so windy and for Singapore's weather, this is an absolute plus plus plus.

I am happy to be given this opportunity to try the burger and french fries. The Ebi buurger is good with juicy meat. However I don't like the charcoal patty whcih should be replaced by another type of patty.The cheese fries should have more cheese and the sichuen fries have a very strong spice taste which lingers on you tongue for 20 minutes, if I am not wrong. Maybe should lower the content of spice to cater to majority taste.

While waiting for the food, I checked out the menu which composed mainly of burgers ($16-$26), fried chicken and a range of alcoholic beverages. Good for those looking for a place to unwind after work I guess?

We got to try 7 dishes that night.

1. Black Ebi Burger
Charcoal brioche buns infused with squid ink aioli, breaded prawn patty, butterhead lettuce, sliced tomatoes, grilled pumpkin shreds with yuzu kosho mayonnaise.

The first mouthful was enjoyable, as the crispy breaded prawn patty paired well with the veggies and black bun. I really liked the bun 'cause it was slightly toasted and had this sweet squid ink taste. I did not know there was squid ink prior to eating the burger, so it was a pleasant surprise. The prawn patty was flavourful too, 'cause it's not minced prawn but more like prawns chopped into bite size (like Mcdonald's ebi burger patty la). However, after a few more chomps, there was this orange-y taste coming from the burger. Upon inspection and confirmation, we realised it was actually grilled pumpkin shreads with yuzu kosho mayo! It was a strange combination in my opinion, but a plus for yuzu lovers I guess? I finished the burger anyways.

Rating: 4/5 for the taste if it came without the grilled pumpkin shreds and yuzu kosho mayonnaise. Priced at $19, I guess it's worth a try if you have the money.

2. Truffled Mushroom Burger
120 day grain fed beef patty, arugula, beer caramelised onions, sauteed mushrooms, gruyere cheese, truffle oil, truffle mayonnaise and signature master sauce.

I could not detect the truffle scent when this dish arrived. The patty tasted pretty dry by itself, and was not as flavourful as expected. Not sure if it's just me, but the mild truffle mayonnaise and signature sauce failed to enhance the taste of the burger. Sure there were cheese and mushrooms, but hmmmm... I didn't finish this burger.

Rating: 2/5 for the taste. Priced at $23.

3. Southern Style Fried Chicken

This dish arrived with maple syrup on the side. The chicken was nicely fried, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. While many raved about this dish because it was really flavourful, I could not really taste the seasoning. Perhaps that's why the chef provided maple syrup?

Rating: 3/5 for the taste. Priced at $13.

4. Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken

What is sriracha? Hot sauce. Is this hot? Yes! The chicken was nicely fried, like the one above. But again, I was let down by the taste. While the sriracha sauce was spicy, it was one-dimensional and did not enhance the flavour. However, this dish was highly praised by a few others. Maybe you can give it a try if you're craving for spicy fried chicken.

Rating: 2/5 for the taste. Priced at $13.

5. Curry Fries

Ok the seasoning tastes like curry fish! Those indian curry fish that I dip with roti prata. But the curry taste kind of dies down as you eat more (not in a bad way). If I compared this to the rest of the fries served that night, this would be my favourite.

Rating: 4/5 for the taste. Priced at $9.

6. Sichuan Fries

This one... first impression: peppery. But the after taste is akin to drinking soda. That carbonated, popping sensation. I think it's the peppers that pop, like popping candy! If you like pepper and coke, you can give this a try. It's a love-hate dish, as this was highly rated by some. Not for me though!

Rating: 1/5 for the taste. Priced at $9.

7. Chili Cheese Fries

My favourite chili cheese fries are those from superdog, but sadly, they have all closed down. Where to find nice chili cheese fries now? Wildfire Burger's rendition of the dish came with sour cream, minced meat, beans, cheese and spring onion. I could not taste the cheese, and felt that the bits of minced meat and beans needed more seasoning. 

Rating: 2/5 for the taste. Priced at $15.

Lastly, I must share that the service was excellent. The chef also took the time to chat with us, and I felt that he was really passionate about his cooking. However, I'm still not a fan of burgers, hence probably wouldn't return, considering the price. Thank you openrice for the invitation!

We had 6 dishes to sample. 1) Truffle BurgerThe beef was 100% beef. It was juicy and succulent. The beef was a big generous patty. It was not spicy but the after taste numbs the tongue. It was kinda weird taste. 
7) Cheesy chilli Fries
I could taste the cheese or the chilli. Don't know what it is. 
The burgers and fried chicken was delicious but the fries ruined it all. There should change the Fries menu.

1. Black Ebi Burger $19I would rate this dish 5/5. The patty of ebi has alot of prawn in it and when I bit down on the burger, I could feel the patty being very juicy and yummy. The chef used yuzu mayo as the sauce of the burger and it made the burger even more yummy. The texture of the bun was very soft and spongy. I would strongly reccomend this if you went there to eat.2. The sauce used for the burger was very tasty, I would strongly reccomend this burger if the beef patty was not dry and hard. If the patty was soft and juicy, this burger would be a must try dish when you visit this restaurant.

3. Southern Style Fried Chicken $13

I would rate this dish 5/5. The chicken is coated with a layer of honey from what I tasted. The best part about this dish was that they used chicken tigh meat and it was boneless, which allowed me to enjoy the chicken without having to fear about biting on bones. They also provided maple syrup as a dipper to enhance the taste of the chicken. The chicken was also not as oily as you would imagine a deep fried chicken to be. If you were to compare to KFC chicken in oiliness, KFC would be a 10/10 whereas Wildfire's one would be 2/10. I would strongly reccomend this dish to go with the above two dishes when there is still room in your tummy.

4. Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken $13

I would rate this dish 3/5. The chicken was very tender and everything was perfect as the southern style fried chicken except for that the sauce used was not as appealing as I imagined. To me, it was not spicy as I love to eat chilli, and therefore the taste was not up to expectation. To those who cannot handle spicy food, I would not reccomend you to try this dish as it was spicy for many other people who tried this and could not take spicy food. Overall, try this dish if you are curious
.

5. Curry Fries $9

I would rate this dish 4/5. The curry powder used was just nice as the fries were not too rich in the taste of curry and not too blend. It was like just the perfect amount used. The reason why it did not get 5/5 was that I myself am not a fries lover. If you are a fried lover, I would reccomend this dish to go along with your burger as you can choose what kind of fries you want to accompany it with.

6. Sichuan Fries $9

I would rate this dish 1/5. The taste was unique, and subjected to the taste of one person to another. The fries first taste was pepperish, and after taste was a tingling sensation to your tongue which would be numbing feeling. It really lives up to the name of sichuan mala but there is no taste of spicy in it, I would not reccomend you to eat this dish if you are drinker alcohol as it made the numbing feeling worst. Overall please TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.


7. Chilli Cheese Fries $9

I would rate this dish 2.5/5. The taste was soso as the cheese taste was not strong, and the chilli was not strong either. If they had used a different kind of cheese, the outcome might be much better. For this dish, it varies to one person to another as I am not a fries lover, so if you are the adventurous kind, you should try it.

I would reccomend my friends to try out this restaurant as it is really worth to try their burgers as they are really delicious, it might be an understatement though
.

Black ebi burger

Truffled mushroom burger
The burger was pretty average as compared to another that I ate. The truffle smell was not that strong to me and the 120 day grain fed beef patty was quite dry. For a truffle lover like me, the lack of truffled taste and smell has already put the burger at a lower place in my heart.
The fries that come with it was good too. The portion of the burger together with the fries would be too much for a small eater like me.

Southern style fried chicken
One of the better fried chickens i have tried so far as compared to other fried chicken speciality shop outside. The fried chicken was tender and not too oily and it goes perfect with the maple syrup that comes along with it.

Siriracha glazed fried chicken
Wow! The level of spicyness is comparable to the buffalo wings! My tongue was almost “catching on fire” after a bite into the chicken without pre-hand warning. I would recommend to the spicy eaters and daredevils.

Curry fries
Curry fries was one of the better fries out of the 4 we tried (including the original one that came as a side with the burger). However, the curry taste was not that obvious to me and i wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from the usual fries without the curry leaves on it.

Sichuan fries
The initial bite of the fries has a peppery taste and following on, there is a numbing sensation on the tongue. The flavour was quite unique as I have not experience it elsewhere before. I would say is a one-of-a-kind experience for the more adventurous goers.

Chilli cheese fries
4 different kinds of chilli was topped on the fries together with cheese. It would probably be a good choice for those who wanted to have a taste of chilli and cheese for those who are not a fan of spicy and/or cheesy food. The cheese and chilli taste was a little too subtle for my tongue.

The restaurant itself was qite easy to find, just outside of 313 Somerset. However, the lighting there wasn't really suitable for food photography, and we had to use some spotlight to light-up our food in order to take a good shot. Nonetheless, the ambience was quite good for a relax meal after work with your friends.

We tried a total of 7 dishes and my personal favourite are their Southern Style Fried Chicken & Sichuan Fries. The fried chickens are very crispy and juicy, and dipping them in maple syrup is indeed an unique way to eat fried chicken. Surprisingly they tasted a lot better than expected, as the syrup was not too sweet and cover the oilyness of the chicken. As for the Sichuan Fries, there wasn't really any taste until the after-effect kicks in. Our tongue started feeling numb with tingling feeling, and we attributed it to the Sichuan pepper in the dish. Not a lot of people like it, but strangely it was my favourite. My tolerance for spicy food is quite high, and this was something i have never tried before (unlike any other Sichuan Food where the spiciness kicks in immediately).

There was also the Black Ebi Burger & Truffled Mushroom Burger. The prawn patty in the Black Ebi Burger was extremely fresh and juicy, however i did not really like the squid ink injected into the burger (not a big fan). The Truffled Mushroom Burger includes truffle oil and truffled mushroom with a thick and juicy beef patty.

We tried their Curry Fries, Chili Cheese Fries & Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken as well. Curry Fries was flavourful but a little salty; Chili Cheese Fries wasn't too spicy at all while Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken was a little too oily and not spicy for my likings.

Overall it was quite a pleasant dining experience and i would certainly bring my friends back to try some of their unique menu. For those who like burgers, fries & fried chicken, this is definitely a place not to miss out! =)

On 13th January 2016, my husband and I were honored to be invited for a free food-tasting session at Wildfire Burgers, a restaurant located at 313 Somerset, Orchard Road. The restaurant itself was in a prominent spot, a breeze to find, and the overall ambience was pretty pleasant. We got to try a total of seven dishes: Black Ebi Burger, Truffled Mushroom Burger, Southern Style Fried Chicken, Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken, Curry Fries, Sichuan Fries and Chilli-Cheese Fries.

The Black Ebi Burger was the first dish tasted. It is very flavorful and the shrimp has a nice bite to it. The Truffled Mushroom Burger, however, was far more outstanding to me and easily became one of my favourite and most memorable dishes of the night. This burger consisted of a bread bun, a beef patty, mushrooms and rocket leaves. I must mention that the mushrooms, in particular, were cooked to a very nice texture - very smooth and aromatic with a soft bite to it. Its flavor blends beautifully and harmoniously with the texture and taste of the rocket leaves. The beef patty was a tad too hard and dry for me - however, that was my only disappointment with the burger. The bun is soft and sweet, and the overall taste of the burger is cohesive and well thought out. A must try especially for mushroom lovers!


The two chicken dishes which followed are a joy to eat. We got to try the Southern Style Fried Chicken and the Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken. In both dishes, the chicken thigh meat is smooth, succulent, juicy, glistening and tender. Both items were very tasty, and the best part is that the meat is boneless for easy eating and maximum enjoyment. The Southern Style Fried Chicken features a dip of maple syrup, which makes for a nice and palatable blend of sweet and salty. The Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken featured a bright red-colored sauce that was delightfully spicy, refreshing without going too overboard on the "hotness" factor. 

The last three dishes featured in the night's menu were Curry Fries, Sichuan Fries and Chilli-Cheese Fries. I was greeted with a delightful burst of fresh curry flavor with the Curry Fries, yet happy to note that the curry taste itself was not overdone. Deep-fried curry leaves added a unique fragrance twist to the dish, enahncing the taste and making it more memorable. The Sichuan Fries, however, was a dish that I would probably not be eating very frequently, as the taste did not appeal to me personally, plus there was a strong tingling sensation which numbs the tongue and can get overwhelming when eaten in abundance. I guess the sensation gotten from eating the Sichuan Fries can be described as somewhat interesting, but this was my least memorable part of the meal. The Chilli-Cheese Fries were far more enjoyable for my taste buds. A wonderful blend of both texture and flavor of the ingredients, the taste of both the beef chilli and cheese intermingled together, with the dollops of sour cream on top being a nice finishing touch.

Overall, it was a memorable evening, the organisers of the event were pleasant, easy going and natural in their interaction with guests. The restaurant staff were excellent and accomodating, and service was good. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

1. Black Ebi Burger

I rate this 5/5. This burger is made of breaded prawn patty with butterhead lettuce, sliced tomatoes, grilled pumpkin, Yuzu kosho mayonnaise and squid ink between charcoal brioche buns. The prawns inside the patty is full size big prawns and every bite is crispy, juicy and crunchy. The Yuzu kosho mayonnaise blend extremely well with the prawn patty. For the sides we have the french fries and they are hot, crispy, delicious and mildly seasoned with some spice on it as well. The chief told us we can change the default mildy spiced fries to other flavours like the Curry Fries or the Sichuan Fries at no extra cost.

2. Truffled Mushroom Burger

I rate this 4/5. This burger is made of beef patty, beer caramelised onions, sauteed mushrooms, cheese, truffle oil, truffle mayonnaise and their signature master sauce. The beef is big and juicy and the mixture of various forest mushrooms and rocket leaves combination create a nice delicious taste to it. For the sides we have the french fries and they are crispy and seasoned with some spice on it as well. However the burger overall is quite oily. Maybe they can do something to absorb the oil from the patty and the bun itself.

3. Southern Style Fried Chicken

I rate this 4/5. The fried chickens are extremely crispy, juicy and fresh. The dish is topped with pickled cucumbers and cabbage below. It is recommended that you dip the chicken into the maple syrup that comes with it as the chicken taste good with it. Overall it taste good but nothing special to it and it is a bit oily as well.

4. Sriracha Glazed Fried Chicken

I rate this 2/5. I personally cannot eat chilly hot stuff and this fried chicken is too hot for me. The fried chickens are extremely crispy, juicy and oily as well. This dish is suitable for those who like hot chilliy stuff.

5. Curry Fries

I rate this 4/5. The curry power sprinkle onto the hot crispy fries make it taste good and delicious and the fries are topped with curry leaves as well. Crispy and yummy is how I describe this dish.

6. Sichuan Fries

I rate this 1/5. After I eat the Sichuan fries my tongue feels numb and the feeling is not very good. The taste is weird and it left an unpleasant after effect taste in your mouth and I attribute it to the Sichuan seasoning sprinkle onto the fries. Overall nothing special and I recommend you all to avoid eating it at all cost.

7. Chilly Cheese Fries

I rate this 2/5. The Chilly Cheese Fries are sprinkle with spring onions, melted cheese, mayonnaise and chilly paste. The cheese taste very mild compare to the KFC cheese fries. Even though I am those who cannot eat chilly hot stuff, the hotness of the chilly cannot be felt by me at all. The title of this dish does not match the taste and for the steep price of $15, I would rather go to KFC to eat their cheese fries instead.

To conclude this restaurant give me a feeling it is trying to compete with Mcdonald, KFC, Burgerking, EWF etc. I would have rate this place higher if the price comes down a bit more and they should try to remove the oil from their burgers and fried chicken as I am quit health conscious about it.

great overall though the pricing is abit too high as the Black Ebi Burger cost $19 and Truffled Mushroom Burger cost $23. Definitely worth it to try the sichuan fries to experience the tingling taste and the curry fries which is delicious! Great restaurant and nice ambience in the restaurant though the restaurant is a bit too dark. $101 dollar for 7 dish is a bit expensive but its definitely great experience as the portion is huge!

Definitely worth it to try the sichuan fries to experience the tingling taste and the curry fries which is delicious!

Great restaurant and nice ambience in the restaurant though the restaurant is a bit too dark.

$101 dollar for 7 dish is a bit expensive but its definitely great experience as the portion is huge!
