Lobster Bisque
Their lobster bisque was quite unique in taste as it was scented with Kaffir lime with a hint of chili (or perhaps curry spices?). The soup was smooth and mouth-watering and was complemented with a large chunk of lobster meat. I especially like their presentation in the iron-cast bowl which brought about a rustic country feel.

Their turkey was flavourful and tender. The rosemary potatoes were surprisingly delicious too!

Grass Fed Warrnambool Australian Filet Mignon

The beef was a disappointment. The texture was tough and lacked the natural juices of the meat. What totally spoiled this dish was however, the mismatching side dish (peanut kale salad) which tasted somewhat like CNY’s yu sheng. Perhaps it was meant to be a fusion creation which somehow backfired.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Served with Armagnac caramel sauce, the pudding was moist and not overwhelmingly sweet. The vanilla ice cream was light and complemented the dessert well.

Panna Cotta
The soft creamy panna cotta instantly melted in your mouth and burst into full flavours, thanks to the zesty sloe gin infused forest berries. This was definitely the star of the day and a perfect ending to our Christmas feast!

Next to it is the wine storage, where customers can store their wines in the restaurant.
Along the walk way, we are surrounded by wine chillers.

The wall of the dine in area is surrounded by shelves of chopped wood.
We have a table by the window, where we have a great view of the Padang. The table is quite narrow and we seated quite close to the next table. The place is quite noisy with its loud music. I could not hear what is my partner talking about with all the noise.

We start the meal with the famous Onion Focaccia, which is served complimentary with butter on a wooden board. I am surprised that our order has not taken when the bread is served.

Both of us decide to go for the USDA Prime Rib Eye (usual $80++) with a $8++ topup.
I have my piece of meat done middle as recommended by the staff. The meat is quite juicy and smooth to eat, although the centre part is a bit too fatty. The watercess that served with it is quite bitter in taste. After the dish, I realise that we are not served the 4 well known sauces for the meat. I am quite disappointed, especially seeing customers being served with the sauces.

Dessert
Wooloo-Wonker Lollipop
Keep an eye open for the golden ticket
Vanilla ice-cream, caramel, crumbled nuts & crisp chocolate
I die die want to change the dessert. I even told the staff on phone about it when he calls to confirm the reservation. I have seen the next table having it, which looks like something one can get it easily from the supermarket. It is just a chocolate coated vanilla ice cream stick, in a rather thin and cheapo looking paper box. It is something that one definitely wouldn't have expected from an atas restaurant. The only good thing about it is that one may win a $50 voucher. In the end we have to use 2 Wooloo-Wonker Lollipop to exchange for 1 dessert from the Dessert menu. Some may say it is a unbalance exchange, but at least I will be having something I like.

Souffle
($24++)
I have order the passion fruit & Grand Marnier flavour one. It is served hot in a metal pot. One has to cut open in the centre to pour the sauce in. It tastes very light and fluffly, as well as, strong in the liqueur taste.

Overall the food is not bad. The place seem to be unstaffed as we have a hard time getting the attention of the staff. Water is not refilled regularly. Overall it falls flat of my expectation. Total bill is $148.30 for 2 persons.

Before I start on the delicious main course which I had, we shall start with the bread first! It has onions in it which i like and they gave a generous portion with the butter too! Super love!

Now the main course - Beef Wellington ( Australian filet mignon with mushroom duxelle, wrapped in Parma ham, topped with Foie Gras & wrapped with puff pastry. Served with red wine Madeira sauce ).

I was viewing the online menu first and when i saw the deescription, i knew i'm going to have this! All my favorite stuff in one! Shiok is the word to describe. Imagine my happiness when i opened up the puff pastry to reveal what's inside! I asked for medium for the filet mignon and i was satisfied with it. Foie gras is of a decent size and parma ham add a nice bit of saltiness to the whole dish.

For $69, i thought it was quite worthwhile for the goodies i get within one dish. Service was nice and attentive too. Quiet environment too on a weekday night.

We came this time to have a go at their desserts, and we got the bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice cream, which I think costs $16, and the passionfruit souffle which costs about $20. Quite steep for desserts but you pay for the ambience and service, service was very good. The vanilla ice cream was rich and creamy, and the bread and butter pudding dense and moist, not a fan of it though. I like the passionfruit souffle which was fluffy and a little sour.

The caramelized onions focaccia bread was very fragrant and good to start a meal, loved it. For mains I decided to try the highly recommended Beef Wellington - beef fillet wrapped with parma ham with some foie gras; everything was encased in a puff pastry. The red wine sauce that comes with it also complements the whole dish well. It is very pricey though, but the beef was juicy and tender.

The main hero of the day - the ribeye steak! Wooloomooloo has many different cuts of steak but I usually like to go for the Ribeye. I ordered mine medium rare and it was still a touch overcooked but just a touch. I can still forgive it
. The meat was delicious and it comes with 4 sauce - Red wine Madeira, Au jus, mushroom and peppercorn. I like the Au Just and Red Wine Madeira surprisingly. But since you get all 4 sauces, just dip away!

I'd heard of the service being legendary here. But somehow, I didn't get that feel immediately because the main counter was pretty far in. There's no one to greet you right at the entrance, which I found kinda weird...

Anyway, the place was super crowded that evening, I thought it was a bit too noisy for a place like that but eh whatever. We got a nice spot in the pop-up function room in the middle of the restaurant, right by the massive windows that show you a pretty view of the CBD area.

Our server for the evening was Kat (Cat?). We found her to be really pleasant, albeit a bit too busy to fully pay attention to us that evening. Like I mentioned, it was seriously super crowded! She brought us our complimentary bread (no pictures too hungry sorry!), (a very large) freshly baked focaccia bread topped with caramelised onions. This came with a side of salted butter. The bread was absolutely phenomenal! I've never tasted anything so darn fluffy before... We gobbled it right up.

Now, for our mains. They took some time to be prepared, and the manager was walking around checking in with everyone and I assume at one point, he went into the kitchen to ask what's the hold up with our orders. If I pay good money, honestly, I don't mind the wait for amazing food and you shouldn't either.

I ordered the Beef Wellington which was about $66+. Recognised as Gordon Ramsay's specialty, this was steak about the size of a fist, topped with foie gras and finally wrapped in puff pastry. I was blown away by this dish. It was prepared so well, everything was perfect from the steak to the puff pastry. The combo was too good to be true... but yeah, IT WAS!

My boy ordered the steak ($70+) and a side of fries ($12+). I can't remember exactly which cut of steak he had, but it was the Australian one (always choose the Australian cut!) and it came with 4 different kinds of sauces. Once again, brilliant! Oh, portions for everything (including fries) were toooo big for us - and I eat like a dude - so what do you think? All I can say is: be prepared to overeat!

For dessert, we ordered the (also) legendary $25 chocolate lava cake. Rated as one of the best in SG, I was eager to try this - even more so than the steak actually. We waited quite a while for this, and eventually, it was sitting right in front of us. I dug my fork in, letting the choc ooze out for a bit, before finally taking a bite.

Verdict?

Disappointing.

The base of the cake was overcooked. It was way too hard for a lava cake and you could tell that it sat in the oven for just a bit too long. This was probably the factor that broke it. I am sad to admit that Max Brenner makes a better choc lava cake for a lower price. I guess they were really busy that night, quality probably went out the window a bit - even for service (not attentive, way too much rushing about, would call for someone 4 times but no response... sigh).

I would return but definitely not during rush hour. And yes, it's the Beef Wellington that stole my heart! <3

Complimentary bread. It was so nice and fluffy and they were so generous to give the whole loaf for just the two of us! We had to take away and they were so kind to pack it nicely in a box and place it in a fabric bag carrier! The waitress reminded me to take the bread when I leave.

Tuna and Crab Tartare. Has a layer of avocado and diced oranges. We don't really know how to appreciate this dish but the oranges gave it a refreshing taste! It was the first time I tasted raw crab. I wonder how they took out the flesh from the shell.

Inside. It was a thick and huge chunk of meat and the consistency in done-ness was throughout the whole piece of meat. Impressive.

We ordered Wooloomooloo steak as well, also in medium rare. The outer rims was slightly more done than medium rare but it was fine. Just a speck of imperfection. The manager insisted on changing for us but rejected because it was really fine.

Warm Chocolate Cake. We didn't want to order cos we were damn full after all the food already. But I insisted, die die must try this. Just nice, we were told that it takes 17minutes to be done. Got time for a breather (:
The picture says it all.. Oozing goodness. It is definitely the best that I've tried and I'm not sure if I can find out that beats this. $25.

The waitresses were on their toes man. Super alert that when my partner accidentally raised his hand, they came over. They constantly topped up our water and checked if the food is ok for us and whether the meat was cooked to our liking.
We ordered a few dishes that were recommended by various food bloggers but we gave the side dishes a miss. To our surprise, the manager (I suppose he is) brought mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms for us to try. Really warm and friendly.
The meal burned a hole in our pockets though. You could say that we've paid for the service. But to be honest, what you pay is what you get. And I've gotten what I paid (:
