A disappointing dinner service, a dull ambiance but there was one dish that managed to sway my humble opinion of the place. The Bún thịt nướng chả giò is a popular Southern Vietnamese dish that really surprised me with it's refreshing flavors and savory grilled meat. Maybe I'll be back for their specialty "Wrap & Roll" dishes, but most definitely not for their Phở.Please leave a like at my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/zacbhl if you find this review useful! I've had their beef noodles before which were great. Though I wanted to order it again, I was tempted to try the Rice Vermicelli with Deep-Fried Soft Shell Crab. I was really glad it turned out equally yummy! This noodle dish is a dry one, with a thin sauce served on the side for you to pour in and mix with the noodles. The portion of the sauce was just right to ensure that all then noodles were nicely coated in the it. The sauce was light, with subtle sweetness and savouriness. I really liked it! Their rice vermicelli is slightly thicker than the thin bee hoon you normally have, and they were really nice and smooth. There were also shredded omelette, sliced cucumbers and pickled veg like carrots and radish, which added a nice crunch to the dish. The 2 deep fried soft shell crabs which were halved were good too, meaty and not really oily. I really loved how everything went really well together and I'll be coming back to order this dish again! 繼續閱讀

While I was shopping at ION, I saw a new vietnamese restaurant called Wrap & Roll. Hence, I went in to have my lunch there. The staff was friendly and service was fast when ordering and serving of food. The menu was quite limited, not many dishes to choose from. I ordered the Green Mango Salad with Caramelized Dried Shrimp and Rice Noodles with Grilled Chicken & Deep Fried Spring Rolls. The Green Mango Salad with Caramelized Dried Shrimp tasted similar to the Thai version of papaya salad. The green mango was raw, crispy and tasted sourish. The sauce was salthy and fishy, I think there was fish sauce added to the salad. The Rice Noodles with Grilled Chicken & Deep Fried Spring Rolls had side ingredients more than the rice noodles. The grilled chicken was good, there was grilled marinated taste on the outside and tender moist meat inside. The spring roll was deep fried, savoury and oil outer, inside filling was slightly bland. 繼續閱讀

Wrap and Roll opened recently at Ion Orchard's level Basement 3 and it deals primarily with Vietnamese Cuisine. Having never really tried any Vietnamese dishes before, I decided to give Wrap and Roll a go.I ordered the 'Com Suon Nuong' which is basically a rice dish with grilled pork chop and salted egg pudding, with some salad. I found the presentation of the food quite amusing especially how they arranged the salad vegetables! The grilled pork chop was well cooked and seasoned - Not too strong a taste and nicely glazed and cooked. The salted egg pudding was a bit salty for my taste but I'm not sure if it was accidentally made too salty or that's how it's supposed to taste like. All in all it was a decent meal although a tad pricey.Although the place is new, the staff were all very courteous and helpful with customers' needs! Thumbs up for the good service! 繼續閱讀

Another impromptu dinner date with Angela and Ivy. Since I'll be arriving late, I got the girls to find a place first while waiting for me and they decided to try out this new Vietnamese restaurant at ION B3. The girls had already placed their order when I reached. Glanced thru the menu and decided to try the Beef Hotpot. The hotpot set consists of 5 thick & long slices of beef, some noodles & vegetables & 4 pcs of rice paper. But how to go about enjoying the hotpot? You're supposed to cook the beef in the soup; wet the rice paper with the water provided; put the cooked beef & the vegetables onto the rice paper & roll it up like a spring roll! Soup for the hotpot is lemongrass vinegar broth. Broth is sour & it feels like drinking vinegar, but it has the refreshing taste cos of the lemongrass. Looks spicy but its not, and I actually finish the whole pot of soup! Don't quite like the raw vegetables thou. We also ordered 3 dishes for sharing. Crispy Crepe with Prawn, Pork, Beansprout & Mushroom. I find it taste like oyster omelette but lots of beansprouts, which I really didn't expect it to be that much! Taste pretty good, but too oilyMustard Lettuce roll with Prawns & Pork. Somehow the prawns & pork taste slightly sweet, probably due to the freshness. Sauce that was served together is very nice. Not quite sure what it is, but it sure taste slightly like sesame sauce. Staffs here are relatively new but are all very friendly & yes, we'll be back to try other dishes on the menu soon! 繼續閱讀
