It was fresh to max, tender and very smooth in texture. Only few pieces, the platter was concentrated on quality not quantity.

Normal dish ever, it was nothing to scream of. A decent bowl with steamed egg, it was salty enough to consume. Overall was satisfying but price a bit steep.

Chicken set $9.90I was pleasantly surprised by how tender the chicken cubes were! They were also marinated well and were packed with flavours. The set came with a plate of beansprouts which were well-cooked too. Chicken and seafood $24.90this was quite pricey imo but the prawns were fresh and the chicken was good. Overall, if you are around the vicinity and are looking for affordable and decent teppanyaki, try out yaki yaki, it won't be yucky!

I find this slightly expensive but still acceptable. There was sufficient seafood inside and was not covered with flour batter. Not a must get though.

Reasonable price and since it is belonged to the same company group that own Ichiban, you can collect a stamp for every $20 you spent.

The store size of this restaurant is really small... Whatever you see in this photo is really what they have. Probably a few more teppanyaki seats deeper into the restaurant. And due to it's small size, the queue was terribly long, and luckily we both were here before the dinner crowd! The queue started streaming outside by 7pm. I kind of gauged that the average waiting time after that time is around 15-20mins.

Salmon Fried Rice
$4.50

When this was served, it was the fragrance of the smell that caught my first attention. Then that was when I saw the fried rice lavished with cooked salmon. Its portion is just ideal for one-pax portion. In fact, I took a few mouthfuls from his fried rice and it was still enough for him.

It was a pleasant surprise caused by this humble looking bowl of salmon fried rice. I didn't expect a $4.50 bowl of rice could give me bountiful salmon. A perfect dish to pair along with other side dishes.

Salmon
$11.90

Perhaps you would think that two pieces of salmon that comes with no rice are fetching too high a price. That's not the truth. The tender salmon submerged in the broth brings pleasure to your taste buds. Good for pairing with rice, as it'll be a little salty to be consumed alone.

Every main dish comes with a plate of complimentary friend bean sprout.
This came with the salmon.

This complimentary plate of bean sprout faired way beyond my expectation. Personally, I kind of like soft and cooked bean sprout, compared to those raw and slightly tougher ones. This YakiyakiBo has certainly prepared this well enough, with the presence of pepper.

Gyoza
$6.90

It was effortless to sink my teeth into the soft skin of the gyoza. The thickness of the skin was ideal as it was not too thick. Beneath the gyoza skin, you'll be able to see sufficient minced meat with diced spring onion in it.

Unfortunately, no gyoza sauce with garlic was served. When we first requested for the sauce, the waitress gave me the soy sauce. Then I asked for the real gyoza sauce where usual garlic slices are expected. Ended up, they gave me a bottle of marinated garlic. Everything was self-serviced.

Salmon Okonomiyaki
$11.90

After seeing this, you might be thinking am I having a salmon feast or something. Haha I am not! We just love salmon too much.
This has to be consumed fast especially when it is hot .The pleasure of consuming this will diminish as the heat escapes into the air.

The pancake, topped with liberal amount of salty fish flakes, was an appetizing dish at the start. Every bite should be eaten with some fish flakes on top of it in order to maximize the taste of the pancake. If not, the pancake will gradually taste pale or mushy the more you eat it. At least that was what happened to me. I didn't finish this, oops. But it tasted great! Good for sharing ;)

Teppan Banana Ice Cream
$5.90

This dessert is definitely a one-of-a-kind dessert you'll be served. Fried bananas may be very common to most of us, but such commonality is overthrown by the fact that the hot fried banana is paired with ice cream!

Consume them together gives me a "mmmm" feel.
I like the texture and the combination of hot and cold items together. Interesting dish indeed.

Overall, I think this is a great place to have some japanese cuisine besides the commercialized sushi served in for example, Ichiban. However, a thing to note is that Yakiyakibo might be a little bustling and thus you might not be able to enjoy quiet ambience here. In fact, the influx of patrons wouldn't give you the peace to stay here for long either.

Hope you liked my review!

Overall, I enjoyed the food serve here. Portion is decent and enough to fill a big eater (like me) up. The chawamushi took quite a while to serve as they are freshly made after ordering. Instead of boring bowl for the chawanmushi, they creatively uses onion as the bowl!

Definitely going back if I happen to be around the area.

It was nice fragrance of onion and the texture was smooth and really goes well with the onion but the portion was a bit small. Overall, the food was average.

If you enjoy watching the chef cooks your dishes infront of you, then you may want to check out this restaurant at Jurong Point. Love to eat the teppanyaki beef as the beef meat is very tender and juicy. It is not over cooked which is not tough and easy to chewy as well. The salmon fish was quite a lacking, as the fish meat is not tasty and the portion was quite little as well. The chef is very friendly which made our visit a very pleasant one.

I was rather surprised at the creative way they used to present their chawanmushi using the onion to serve as the 'bowl'! As a result, there was a nice fragrance of onion in the chawanmushi
However, the disappointing part was that the serving given was a little small.

Ended off my dinner with an ice cream dessert!

The idea of combining goreng pisang (fried banana) together with a scoop of ice cream is really fresh and innovative! The goreng pisang was really crispy and delicious! However, it causes the scoop of ice cream to melt fast as the goreng pisang was still hot when it was being served.

But to make it better – good food! 7 hours after breakfast today, our stomachs were already on a violent strike – demanding food, or they’ll inflict more pain unto us. Glad to have settled for Yaki Yaki Bo Teppanyaki Restaurant after much contemplations.

So my friends and I sat at the counter. I was just asking my friend – is it that I’ve been living under the rock for the past years if I find the way they cook in front of us fascinating (right Ah Meng lol). But really, I think it’s super stressful on their part, and totally the opposite on our side. I enjoy looking at them flipping, slicing and scratching the iron griddle with their teppanyaki spatula.

Seafood Lunch Set ($18.90++) :: And as always, I have trouble deciding what to have. It was a toss up between the Seafood Lunch Set and the Dory Fish Lunch Set (I love dory fish!). But you know, my stomach was as deep as an abyss that time, I didn’t want to risk not ending up with a full stomach, so I took the former (the latter costs $10.90++ – too good to be true, lol). I’d say it’s much worth it. What’s included in the set
• Salad (lettuces, carrots, apples, cucumbers)
• Miso soup
• 1 plate of beansprout
• 1 bowl of rice
• 2 slices of orange
• Seafood: 1 whole portion of squid; 1 portion of salmon; 2 scallops; 3 prawns – served on top of a rectangular slice of slightly toasted, slightly flavored with garlic bread.
Service was quick, so we got to have our eagerly awaited lunch soon after placing our order. To be honest, I was spoilt for choices; I was lost in the sea of food – I didn’t know which one to begin with – the salmon, no, the squid, no the prawn first, the beansprout. lol. All of them are good to have while it’s hot. Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself thoroughly.
The salmon is oh-so-delectable. It has been quite some time since I’ve tasted some nicely cooked salmon (again, don’t take my words for it – it’s 100% only my opinion). The scallop was great. The prawn, however, was a disappointment. I was looking at it, ever-ready to pop it into my mouth, until I did, and learn that it was overcooked. Other than that, it’s really great and worth the money. I rubbed my stomach in much satisfaction.

Butatama (Pork) Okonomiyaki ($10.90++) :: My friends and I saw the Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes) on the menu while flipping through it. Inside us, we were all silently tempted by it. Only a while later, one of us spoke up, wanting to try it, that we easily succumbed to this temptation. lol. We ordered the Pork-filled one, if I’m not wrong, it’s pork belly in it. I think I’m not a Okonomiyaki person. lol. The cubes of cabbage-y in it makes it not-so-enjoyable for me. But the well-cooked pork belly in it kind of neutralizes it out. If you don’t mind the cabbage, go for it!

There are also other sets I got to try. Salmon Lunch Set ($14.90++) – like aforementioned, the salmon is ever so awesome (likewise for its presentation – it’s placed in a small pre-made aluminum tray), and Sliced Beef Lunch Set ($14.90++). It doesn’t taste too bad for me, for someone who doesn’t usually eat beef (not because I dislike it, but because of religious reason). And the portion is pretty generous too, according to my friend. lol.

Can’t emphasize on how satisfied I am about this meal. Thanks to William for the introduction! This will definitely not be my last trip there.

—-> NOTE #1: You can ask for Counter Seat (in front of the iron griddle) if you’d like, if not – a standard seat is available too.

—-> NOTE #2: They use the ‘take-your-receipt-to-the-front-counter-to-settle-your-bill’ system. So do not embarrassingly ask for the bill when you are done, lol. See, for me, it’s always good to go to a new place with someone who has been there before. lol.

—-> NOTE #3: Lunch sets are only available from 11.30AM – 3PM. Well, at least I hope I didn’t remember wrongly. It’s that or up till 2PM. lol. It should be throughout the week. Because I had mine on a Saturday.

—-> NOTE #4: We asked the manager (was it) if that’s the only outlet, and the answer is positive – the only outlet is at Basement 1, Jurong Point. (Latest update as of 01.01.11, a new outlet is opened at nex, Serangoon.)

Sadly, there was no difference. Like Ichiban Sushi's miso soup, the soup was not sweet enough for my liking. To be fair, miso soup tend to have a light taste and I'm the kind who prefer strong tasting food. Though so, I like drinking a bowl of miso soup to quench my thirst and refresh myself after eating so it was perfect for me.

Yaki Yaki Bo has several dishes that involves bean sprouts and this is the one that is just bean sprouts. Its a perfect inexpensive side dish that's only $2. Before I tried it, I was pretty much joking around with my family about how different can bean sprouts taste. I wouldn't say it tasted different, but it tasted better than most bean sprouts that are in char kway teow, lor mee etc. It was well fried and it has the nice fried taste. Also, there were onions so I didn't get sick of the taste of

Also, there were onions so I didn't get sick of the taste of bean sprouts.

Pretty good in my opinion. Would order for it again if I'm eating rice at the restaurant.
