D'Good Cafe is super easy to miss along Holland V, it's a small establishment that goes up to three storeys. A narrow staircase leads you up to the second level which houses the second-level seating and the ordering counter/coffee bar.
In this photo you'll see the very quaint layout of the cafe (second floor), which has swings and carpet grass overlooking the road outside. The third floor has an al-fresco balcony seating, which I actually would have preferred because the airconditioning in the second level was way too cold for me!

The decor is distinctly cosy with a contemporary touch. There are surprises to be found in every nook and cranny, and I appreciated that thought

The English Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans and (brioche?) toast on the side. While I enjoyed the crusty toast that was perfectly fluffy yet crusty at the same time, I'd have to say that this dish disappointed me a little. The presentation was a tad messy too, and I really go for aesthetics in plating of the dishes. The mushrooms were the best in terms of the seasoning-to-naturalflavour ratio. The scrambled eggs had a consistency I didn't really like and it was a bit bland. The bacon would definitely be better if it were a bit more crisp at the edges (while I definitely appreciate the fact that they used lean bacon

The aglio olio was my favourite main of the night! The noodles weren't too oily and perfect to slurp up. The prawns made up the bulk of the flavour with its slight burnt-garlic flavour. It wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be and the taste is really, really good. Smooth, savoury and not overly salty. Delicious.

The eggs benedict was well-done.The poached egg had the texture that I liked. Served with ham on a muffin, it was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was something different, though. It had isolated flavours of creaminess and sourness. As though lemon juice had been squeezed over the sauce, but not mixed in. It was a bit odd but I suppose it was something different.

The Japanese Curry Set tasted very home-cooked. I suppose if you like your dishes to have a certain home-cooked flavour to it, this will sit extremely well with you. The curry wasn't exactly flavoursome nor tasty, but the flavours were clean and simple. It had chicken, potatoes and carrots inside -a standard Japanese Curry. The rice was also cooked unevenly. D'Good Cafe probably isn't the best place for Japanese Curry though you're better off having western fare.

The coffee art is just too irresistably adorable! I ordered a Caffe Latte, and you can choose a flavour to go with your standard coffee drinks (Mint, Chocolate, Caramel, Vanilla etc.). The coffee was really good. It was a latte but the flavours were strong a robust, albeit a bit too acidic for me. It has a distinct smooth taste when you first sip it, and it ends off with a slightly bitter finish. Don't like the standard coffees? Do a custom blend for only $12, and $5.50 per cup when you have the same blend subsequently.

Custom blends are blends of coffees customised to suit your tastebuds: robustness, flavours and acidicity. All these can be controlled in your custom blend when the baristas will help you to cup and create your perfect coffee through tasting and smelling beans/coffee variations. Definitely a must-try!

D'Good Cafe also offers the Indonesian Kopi Luwak at.. wait for it.. $38 a cup. It's the authentic civet cat coffee where the beans of coffee berries are excreted from selected civet cats in Indonesia. Truly gourmet stuff.

The cheesecakes are absolutely divine. The Trio -a layer of chocolate mousse, cheesecake and an oreo base, is sinfully rich. The texture is smooth and has a slightly savoury aftertaste which is nice to break the ultra-sweet tastes
I particularly liked the chocolate macaron. It wasn't too sweet and the texture wasn't as sugary as those in commercial retail stores.

On the right, we have the Maple & Sea Salt cheesecake -my favourite! Its a huge hit and a definite bestseller. It has a distinct maple syrup flavour even though maple itself is extremely subtle. The balance of the subtle sweetness is harmonised with the savoury sea salt. It reminds me vaguely of a sea salt caramel ice cream, actually. Smooth cake, delightfully rich and tasty. Add this onto your bucket list, it's too good to miss out in life!!!

Service here is actually really good too. The staff is really helpful especially with the custom blends (I was as lost as a sheep with coffee brewing methods), and they're super friendly. The ambience is wonderful for a chillout date, and my only gripe is that the air-con seating area is way way way too cold for me :/ D'Good Cafe is a lovely place and everyone should hang out here whenever they pass by. The mains may not be to-die-for, but the coffee and cakes are excellent, ambience is super and you'd stay for the warm service!
