Before coming to this place, I have no idea that there is something else other than the usual food court styled yong tau foo or similar. It is essentially a Hakka dish and has its roots in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur (kind of duh but I only knew Ampang is a place in KL after Googling it!). They also serve chicken rice and other roasted meat related dishes, but their specialty is their yong tau foo!The Fried Tofu dish is the dish to order in here. The Fried Tofu dish is the dish to order in here. It is really very different from the sort of yong tau foo that I usually eat. It is crispy and the aroma of the fried beancurd skin just permeates around. The skin would be too salty for most people, but that is alleviated by the vegetables. They should put more vegetables to balance the taste a little. While I did not really enjoy the fried tofu due to my considerations on fried food being unhealthy, the sauce really enticed me for a second bowl of rice. I can eat bowls of rice with that sauce everyday!

In general, the wanton was also very salty for me, especially the 'soup'! Not sure if you are supposed to drink the soup, but it's definitely too salty for me to drink it like this. It almost tasted bitter from the overdosage of pure salt in the soup. The wanton itself soaked up the salty soup but they turned out just right.

This place is quite an interesting find - I would never gotten to this place on my own because of how deeply secluded it is. It could be quite an acquired taste sort of place for people who are not used to this sort of dishes. After all some people do love it so much and don't find it salty at all! Well, to each of his own.

The shop behind in green signboard also reads Ampang Yong Tau Fu, a direct competitor with this 928 Ngee Fou Ampang Yong Tau Foo. Not sure which is better, but I took a peek at the competitor's presentation of dishes which looked neater in my opinion. Taste-wise, it could go either way! Wait till I try that too.
