Was supposed to be here for my usual ban mian fix at China Whampoa Ban Mian stall when I saw the long queue at this stall. Operating with just 2 person, the guy chef will cook up the dish and the lady will handle order taking and preparing the trays. Yes its self-service but I was not disappointed at all since it’s well worth the 20min wait. Ordered the $4 mixed fish version (sliced fish and fried fish mixed) and had rice (30cents) instead of the thick white bee hoon. The soup came with toufu, seweed, half a tomato, fried fish, sliced fish, chai sim and fried onions. It was amazingly sweet, it’s not just the fact milk was added, I think the soup base itself is well sweetened, hopefully it’s not becoz of MSG. I would say the fish is average though but the soup taste more than make up for it. I finished the entire bowl and could taste bits of crispy bits which I suspect they added the fried bits for fried fish head to it. Initially I thought it was anchovies/ikan bilis but on close inspection I think it’s the former. Definitely return here again for this nice hawker food.
